| First adventure , the choosing process.... |

Just curious if anyone else has created and recreated their class/race, in their heads of course, in the last few weeks. Also, what thoughts you have had in doing so, the choosing process that is.
We, here at the Artagus home for game junkies, have put some thought in who, where and why. Things are always subject to change since we have 2 more betas to struggle through.
Since every race cannot be any class the first adventure is choosing.
We started to look first at the lands themselves and the themes that they are based on.
Qalia: a Middle-Eastern/Arabian Nights theme
“The continent is one of extremes. Fierce sandstorms. Harsh sun-blasted deserts. Titanic mountain ranges that loom over the deserts. These define the landscape of Qalia.”
A nice place to visit I am sure, for the EQ and EQII fans, this reminds me of The Oasis and Desert of Flames. We decided that if we have to live here and spend a lot of time in this region, This was not a choice for us. It was a hard one since the Dark Elf has been in our family for a long time.
Thestra: Thestra is modeled on a Northern European high fantasy theme reminiscent of classic Dungeons and Dragons and Tolkien-esque lore.
The occasional survivors of expeditions into the depths of Thestra return with stories of jagged mountains, sheer cliffs, dense forests, stagnant swamps teeming with untold perils, and even islands rumored to hold precious resources and hidden treasures.”
This seemed to be a smorgasboard of scenery. That was appealing to us, a little variety. A picnic with the Clan in the forest, or a trip to the mountains. We seem to be leaning toward this area.
Kojan: an Asian-themed flavor, with architecture resembling that found in the Far East.
“Explore two large continents and an archipelago riddled with dungeons and adventures.”
This was also a consideration. The thought of an area that is a small grouping of islands(unless I am missing the “archipelago” part of this description.) We are still considering this region. Of course, I am sure the wife will make up our minds soon.
The class choice of course is a semi easy one. Do to the fact that we are always facing the adventures together, Healer/Fighter combo seems to be the best scenario.
As we continue the who, what and where, the choice of race is delegated by our previous choices and of course, which one seems fitting.
This is how we are spending our time(besides the periodic romp through Norrath) and I am sure as we get closer to launch, we will do it all over again.

I would really love to play in Qalia. It is a whole new kind of world. And anything slightly related to Africa got me hyped. But since I don't want to wander all by myself, I might change my mind. Or create an alt :)

I'm leaning more towards Thestra, but Qalia is still a very strong possibility. I'm sure to make a character on all three continents at first before I decide where I want my main to be.
That is another factor we need to consider. If we are planning on hooking up in game. We need to not only decide on a server, but a continent as well. With travel being such an obstacle in this game. I think after everyone get acquainted with everything, we should have a vote on the continent to begin the guild on.
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.
