So, I should have never gotten out of bed this morning. Called in sick, or maybe just kept driving till I felt like stopping, be it half way across the state, or maybe even half way across the country. Or maybe...
On days like this, I get urges. Sometimes I'll get the urge to go buy something. A little bit of a present for myself to confort my weary nerves. Usually I don't though as money doesn't grow on trees for me. Or I'll go eat something. I like chocolate and I like hamburgers. Not at the same time though. Sometimes I'll eat. A fully tummy always makes me feel a little better. Of course ranting helps too, but I try to suppress the amount of ranting I do as it tend to get other people upset, or just makes me look like a fool. :) So anyway...
I dunno, what does everyone else feel like doing then they have a bad day?
I go break things....or read a book if I'm feeling non violent.
Artistic Expressions, My new shop, purchase various items featuring original work and ideas from your's truly! Hell...It's about time. The early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.
When I am having a bad day, I turn on my computer, get on line and open the World of Warcraft. I can without any legal repercussions kill as many spiders, magots, skeletons, mages, thieves, and even other online players as I want. That usually settles me down as I wipe the blood off the newest blade I looted from these villians.
That or eat about 1 1/2 dozen chocolate chip cookies with milk. (I like to dunk)
That's my number one thing I like to do when I'm in a bad mood is get myself lost in a game and just forget about the world. Unfortunatly for me, I can't really do that at work. So, on days like that I'm stuck suppressing my bad mood so that I can deal with all the PEBKAC errors. Occasionaly I'll get something that really works my grey matter. That usually helps to brighten my day too, when I fix a legitimate problem that was more than just point and click a setting. I especially enjoy gettin down and dirty with the command line, but I don't get to do that much.
Chocolate has to be one of the best things for culling one of my bad moods but a little physical labor usually relieves the tension a little better.
Funny, the worse my mood, the better my yard looks! Weed eating the edges of the gardens and cutting a nice clean edge on the driveway gives me a sense of accomplisment and order in a normally caotic life.
World of Warcraft Don't hate Raza because she's beautiful......
Because she's not......
Chocolate always helps on bad days for me. But I have other things to. There are some things I will watch that help. I'll take a break from the computer to play with the puppies (they always make me laugh). And if it is a really, really bad day I write poetry to get all the bad thoughts out of my head an on to paper (no my poetry is not happy stuff).
And if none of those work, I force the boyfriend to cuddle with me.
I'm on day 2 of not smoking, so I'm having a VERY bad day. It's hard to stop a 20 year habbit. I just get on the PC or pop in a movie and zone out...and I unplug the phone so nobody can bother me.
Deep into that darkness peering, long I stood there, wondering, fearing, doubting, dreaming dreams no mortal ever dared to dream before.

RE: I'm having a bad day...
You can do it, my mum quit 3 years ago after smoking since she was 18.
She said sucking regular lollipops helped alot.
I have a flannel to wash my face
if it gets mucky i feel disgraced.
Do you like horlicks, do you like chips.
I'v got 100 pairs of lips - Gotta love the Warlock forums xD

And gum. And um... breathmints? And well any other thing that will keep you not so focused on the craving.
You should play the video I linked. It will help *grin*
Talk about having a bad day, Cillion, you can pass you your left over ciggys. I think I'm going to need them.
Found out I've got myself in a bit of a fix financially. Nothing real serious, but it seems part of the viable solution (in addition to a second job) is going to be to have to give up the mmogs and the internet access for a while. I had been thinking for a while not that it might come to this and it seems like I was right all along. As the saying goes, "When the going gets tough, the tough get going."
On a lighter note, when you go to cancel wow, next to the link it says this:

Before you do so, we would love to hear from you by telephone. There are many steps that our representatives can take to address any problems you may be experiencing.
Hmm...I wonder if one of those steps they can take includes a free wow account and free internet access? :)

Ouch! That is a bad day. I agree, Cillion, you should pass BP your ciggies.
Don't you hate when you are right about the bad stuff? I would suggest grabbing the closest person/animal and settling down for a nice long cuddle.
Not that I'm going anywhere (didn't think ya could get rid of me that easily did ya? Muah ha ha ha!!!).
I've still got a nice internet connection and a bit of free time at work. :) Now to just figure out how I can play while I'm here. Hmm...
On second thought, I may have to go back to dial up as opposed to none at all. My wife needs it for her business. I've still got Guild Wars so I guess I could just go suffer my way through prophecies and and factions again, for the umpteenthousandth time. Or maybe I'll just go give some of those single player games I've got some attention. They are getting quite dusty.
I feel your pain dude. I'm always running the ragged edge on my finances and having 2 MMO's to support is $30 a month for me. I always wonder if I should have these hobbies.
On the plus side I can guarantee you that playing WoW on a dial up connection is possible. I've been playing CoH and WoW on dial up for the last 2+ years. I go to the big raids too, so the increased data flow to track those characters is possible. I can't use any of my voice over internet programs like Ventrillo because of the limited bandwidth, and sometimes it does get a little laggy in IF or other big cities. But bumping up my RAM last year stabilized that a little.
/e hands blackphoenix a cig.....
It's OK, I don't smoke anyhow. You can have the pack.

Sorry man, but I fell off the wagon. This is proving to be one of the hardest things I've done...and I was a Marine. I'll try to stop again another time.

Great topic and one that many of us have no doubt dealt with. I think especially if you have an inside office type job and may the greater powers be of special help to the computer techs in this bunch one of the best things to do to counter this is physical activity. Granted, before MMORPG's I worked out 3 times a week and have barely managed to stay in passable shape since but despite the joy these games bring to us they also take an often unrecognized toll on our minds and bodies. Now I am not saying you have to run or lift weights but just do some cleaning around the house and take care of the little things we let slip by while engrossed in our shared addiction or at least hobby out of hand.
I have only been here a short time but have seen lots of posts across the boards from BlackPhoenix and Cillion and feel some ability to relate to them and probably have a few things in common so I fully understand some of the things you are having to deal with as I originally gave up Shadowbane due to a financial crunch and did manage to get buy on dial up and free games and trials for awhile. At least you have good assurance that in most cases when you deactivate your account you can find your characters waiting for you when things improve on the monetary side.
Cillion keep trying hardly anyone quits the first, second, or third try but there are more good reasons for quitting smoking than to keep smoking. Ok I have babbled enough but this community continues to inspire me to post. :)
Oh besides the physical activities thing, I will add play with your pet, child, or significant other a non computer game or activity, watch a favorite movie, go to a park or rec. center, try a new restaraunt a dive someplace hardly anyone knows about but you can be the first in your circle of friends to discover or find a little mom and pop store you like. Oh and of course CHOCOLATE or break into that special reserve beverage.
Thanks for the encouragement MikesterBrau. I will try the patch and/or the gum next time. 20 years is a hard habbit to break, but either way I will stop.

Good luck with the quitting thing....I should probably quit too ....yea....later.
