OK I know there have been topics on what ATs everyone likes, but I want to know is there an archtype you don't prefer to play as. Not hate or dislike, just something you tried, didn't like, and dedicated your game life to something else.
I tried scrappers and stalkers, and just never got into them.

I tried scrappers and stalkers and couldn't get into them either. Im going to give scrapps one more try with regeneration, I love having a scrap on my team though. As a tanker it's great to have that big damage guy right up front next to you.

Maybe not AT, but I know that I just can't get into Spines Scrappers...even with the nice dark evil costume pieces with points all over them its just wierd seeing them pop outta of me, spurting poison when they do. I also have to wonder, like most every weapon animation in the game, where they go when they disappear...ouch!

I can now hurl Boulders....omfg no he didn't :) I look so pimp in my newest power...its brown and bumpy all over..can you guess?... Thats right is Stone Armor and it is kick butt. Fifty on 12-10-2005 at 12:35am after 400hrs of hard labor Wanna throw a special shout out to Illusion Mastor, CBail, Mudpuppy, Jupiter Sweets, Dark Hollow, Lethal Fury, Pan, Majin Tank, Lotus of Death, and all the others i know I am forgetting for their help. And also to all the gameampers here at gameamp whom without I would never have made it.

I would have to go with tankers. I played for a year and a half before I even made one, and my highest is only like 10.

I have to agree with the blaster thing. I'm trying to give mine a chance, but he ends up in the hospital way too much (I'm probably too used to playing tanks and scrappers).
I love my dark/dark scrapper. Not many characters are so diverse.

Well...since I've only ever actually played scrapper and tanker, I don't have a whole lot of experience, so I'll just go by the sound of the jobs.
Every job sounds interesting to me, but from what I gather about all the jobs, Defender and Stalker are my least favorite. I enjoy more straight-forward jobs, though in MM's case it's just so different from all the other jobs that it sounds like fun.
But hey, for all I know I might change my mind drastically when I have more actual experience, though I know I'll always love being Brutes, Tankers, and Scrappers.

Well if you don't like to die then don't be a fire/any because youll die. If you wan't to live you might want to try being a blapper. My two favorite builds so far are Eletric/Enery(Blap)
or my blaster Archery/Devices.

Heh, I know some of you are ganna HATE me for this... but I don't like to play (emphasis on PLAY) any tanks other than fire or stone.
Stone is toughest by far, and Fire has better resistance to energy attacks, and stacked with tough and weave it's great.
So ya, I think all the others are too wimpy and they have to have some kinda mez in thier secondary to be good.

Corruptors, Doms, and PBs. Dom mezzes and damage are too low, and for damage first AT's, Corrs and PBs just don't do enough damage to make up for lack of solid defense.

I can't really get into playing a healer. I just can't handle not being a part of the damage of battle. Also with Corrupters its just too boring to play.

Finally decided to put a post up Titan? Welcome!!!
Just want everyone to know that bold-lightning is the reason Warron got through the first respec trial in one piece. He is probably the best Tanker I have ever played with, and was present when Warron hit 50. I'm just glad he finally decided to post something, as he's been lurking for ages now, lol.

controllers are my bane to play. I'm way too much a front line fighter. I prefer tanks myself but i have had some success with a dark/spine scrapper (pbaoe monster) and blapper type blasters.

I always had problem playing controllers and blasters. Though I really like some of the powers controllers have, just could never play them.
I dont hate any archetype just more or less having problems playing them.

Although I have tried and tried, I can't play controllers. I guess I just need to do damage. I am always impressed the the great controllers out there, and would like to be one, but alas, it is not meant to be.
And I really really can't play empathy defenders. I know from previous MMORPG's that I can't be the healer. I started feeling bad in the stomach when I a team member died. I walked around with a guilt complex that took me days to clear. Ever since those experiences I know that I simply can't do it.

It is not that I dislike Tankers, I just can't seem to play them very well. Every other toon I can handle and play rather well. It is the tanker that gives me trouble.

Well I haven't played all the ATs up to a high level yet, but so far, my most disliked ones are probably the dominators and the controllers. I just want to deal raw damage, not hold some enemies and just stand there waiting until they die.
I love having a controller on my team, but I just can't seem to play them well, or like to play them.
My favourite AT is the Scrapper btw ;)

An all-human PB. I got my GAA PB to level 35 and then had the idea to use a freespec to change from tri-form to all-human. Big mistake. I even tested the build in the training room before doing it, but I found I really didn't enjoy playing him after the change. Now he is on the shelf until Vet's Rewards goes live and I can use another freespec to change back to my beloved tri-form.

Anything that doesn't have mez protection. Oddly enough though, my first 50 is a defender and my second most likely will be my controller. Blasters are fun to dabble with but I haven't taken one past 20 yet.

Try an Illusion/Trick Arrow controller.
Use that Webby Arrow immobilize to start out your fight (at low levels) and then tag the baddie with the Spectral Wounds thingy...you'd be AMAZED at how much damamage you do. The Webby Arrow thingy makes your Containment kick into gear, so you do LOTS of damage with the Spectral Wounds...and it's PSI damage, which is rarely resisted.

On the heroes' side: for some obscure reason, I get bored with blasters after doing 4 or 5 levels... except the ice one. The variety of effects appeal to my versatility preference in a toon, and because of the sound effects, the feel is great, especially during those cold Canadian winter nights. As for the other types of blaster, well... somehow, the scranker side of me have no feel for them. Being a sniper or an artillery man would not have been my military career of choice! So even with Ice blasters, I never got over level 12. I may get back at it, one day...
On the villains' side: I don't like pets because it's too passive playing for my taste, so no masterminds for me; corruptors and dominators, although different, give me the same boring feel that blasters do. But the one I really dislike is the stalker: it's to me the most well done of the villainous archetypes of the game, the most inherently evil of them all, tailor-made for traitorous, cowardly play par excellence... so definitely not my cup of tea! But i've tried... up to level 24... and it was like drinking castor oil every time!

I do SO agree with you on this one. I've tried building up an all human PB and it was a nightmare, especially because of those quantum gunners and void stalkers popping inevitably in your way, in and out of missions; on my last mission before getting to level 16, I was confronted with a 1-level-higher void stalker, an even-leveled quantum gunner AND a Fortunata Seer base commander 1 level higher, all in the same final room... and I died 13 times in a row before I could finally dispose of them and finish it!
As soon as I got level 16, I took the bypassed nova form and, what do you know, the same trio confronted me again on the very next mission... Then, although with inspirations, I blasted them out to kingdomcome, using the best of both forms to prevail!
Now at level 34, and after a full respec, I play support role (healing pool, leadership pool, grant invisibility etc) in human form, blapper in nova form (fully slotted) and scranker in dwarf form (also fully slotted), using the vast array of powers of the 3 forms to fulfill the needs of any group... and solo with ease.
I know that many claim that, at higher levels, the human form is Uber, but I have yet to see one of those ''humanoids'' do better than a tri-form BP. In fact, I played a couple of times with other high-level Kheldians and, although they always started on the ''humanoid only'' style of play, they sooner or later started to switch forms seeing how well I handled myself using all 3.
The same goes with my level 24 Warshade. Human form only? What a waste...

I have tried the emp thing, becasue my faves are dark miasma and kinetics defenders with tankers coming in a close second, and i cant do it. emps require almost no powers from your secondary set, and i like dark and kin because they allow me to be an auxiliary blaster, or Deflaster. also, the built in travel powers in kinetics and the acc debuff in dark are good too :)

Can't figure it out, but Blasters and Scrappers befuddle me. It's not that I don't understand what I should do, it's that I just can't figure out how to do it. Tank at heart I am, but I managed to "GET" Trollers, Defenders, Khelds, Masterminds, Brutes, Corruptors, and even my old nemesis Stalkers.

controllers for the loss.
not being able to solo a troller is absolutely killing me, it takes forever to kill anything unless you are on a team, i love being able to lock everything down in a big team, but i like the occational street hunt to pass the time and its jut not possible with a troller, atleast for me, but i also havent played a blaster or defender up too high yet, but probably because i'm pushing to 50 and think i might of caught a nasty case of altitis from some other ampers, now thats a lesson for you kids, always bundle up, and i just made one entirely too long run on sentence without realizing it so i'm going to stop now.

I love trying different ATs/powerset. but the 1 I can never get past 10-15 or so is any kind of blaster. Feel like I should keep full set of wakies in inspiration slots. Are blasters the easiest to get debt badges? I would think so.
Give me a scrapper or brute anytime.
