| WHO HATES ME? or am I wrong here? |
|
|

Well I posted something here (click) and I also said that I could use some creds. After a few hours I got punished and was having -23 creds. I had a few replies and someone was kind enough to give me 10 creds to raise it a liltle...
AND NOW I SUDDENLY HAVE -46 CREDIT!!
If you read this and you think you were the one, please post why. I just wanna know what I did wrong so I won't do it again in the future.
Thnx in advance (I think)

Something tells me that is why.
Its just cred, if you ask for credibility it makes people feel that you dont care as much about helping people than that little number that appears below your posts thing. BTW on that 'guide' a bone horror is the nooby m'c nooberson of minions, its not the factions elite.
Generally when i see people asking for creds when i think they dont deserve any i give a 0 as i dont think they should get any, it took me about 6 months to get to lvl 2 and tbh i dont care because the first 6 months were probably the most fun 6 months i had on amp as so may people were sharing such cool stuff with me.

to be honest I agree..the first post I read of his had a neagtive sign in front of it, and it completely distracted me from his post :( I have got negative posts quite a bit actually...so I can understand with that. For future reference dont ask for credit thats the bad way to do it. post screens, guides, tips, or articles that can benefit everyone! thats the best way to do it always!

If you are gonna act like this I'm gonna dislike you. Maybe you should grow up and stop worrying about what everyone else thinks. Just do what you think is right.

You earn the right to give negative credit when your credit reaches a certain level. I asked this question before and someone told me this, but they were unsure what that threshhold was. I would guess it's pretty high (1000+) but that is just a guess.

I believe its around 2,500.....I have over 1k and I cant do it, but I do remember someone with over 2k credit not being able to do it, yet someone with like 2800 was able to give neg cred.
And yes, I know this doesnt have much to do with the main topic, but i figured I would pop-in and awnser that so you can get an idea of how small of a number of people can actually neg-cred you.

I can completely understand what you are saying there, but try to understand also that new members see the credit thing and some of them (myself included) think or though that it was a more important issue than it is. I for one thought that having more credit meant that people would be more likely to listen to your opinion. I have been around for a while and realize that staying active is what makes a difference and gets people to listen not the number under your name.
I am not able to pass out negative credit and probably won't any time soon (i'm fine with that) because my posting habits are different. I post at work and don't have access to GW here so screen shots and guildes are a bit much for the time I have available. When I started I made a mistake and posted something a few didn't like and it appeared that someone wenth through my post list and gave me all the negative credit they could even if it wasn't related to the topic. Looking at his posts it appears that someone (maybe more than one) gave him negative on posts that had nothing negative in them.
I agree that he should just drop the subject and move on but I also think someone is being unfair with the way negative credit is handed out. This can be particularly frustrating especially with a new member that has very little to base their opinion of this site on.
Again just my observation and opinion.

Seriously, I agree with the people who say just to ignore it. Just keep posting stuff that you think is right and good, and eventually someone will agree with you enough to give you some positive credit. But for now, don't expect to go up, because I bet everyone knows you are the one whining about having negative credit, and whining doesn't make anyone want to give you any more than you already have.

yeah, n i dont really care about creds myself, i know they can prove someone knows what there talking about when guildwars is in the topic when someones got like 1000+, but you dont really ASK for credit you earn it. just like "respect" in GT san andreas lol, but in gameAMP helping people, will earn you credit and respect =P

Thx for the info.
If it really is over 2500 then in my opinion the bar is set WAY TOO HIGH!!!!!! Seriously what percentage of people on this site are over 2500. If it is over 2% I would be shocked and that is way too much power for those select few. It should be set to a lower level, but to stop abuse you should have to give a reason if you give negative credit. Just my opinion though.

I'm fairly certain the ability to give negative cred is unlocked between levels 10 and 12, but I'm not really sure. (admin confirmation please?)
anyway, if you stick around and post helpful things, credit goes up. Also, check out submitting screenshots, guides, articles and tips to get you started.
good luck ^^

Just for the general idea; credit was meant to try to encourage people to think about their posts, trying to be as helpfull as possible and keeping this a friendly and helpfull community. As an addition they made the levels; in order to make people curious about what title they would get next.
Credit wasnt meant to make people look more 'credible', 'knowlagable' or more 'trustworthy'. It is meant to provide people the opportunity to compliment people when they have made a good post which the credit giver could use or when it was the answer he/she needed.
Credit is and never was intented as a site-item that people should live by; it is a mere tool for people to compliment others on their helpfullness.

uhmmmm someone? cant really tell tbh. As a admin i have the possibility (never used it; not planning on using it ever), but im certain level 9 has not the opportunity. I thought it was 1500 credit points, but im not sure.

Aw snap, I'm on a personal mission to be able to give out negative credit. I thought I was getting close...
| QUOTE | | Credit wasnt meant to make people look more 'credible', 'knowlagable' or more 'trustworthy'. |
I don't mean to offend or anything, but I would have to disagree. I would say that is exactly what it is for. People with higher credibility are seen as more credible, knowledgable, and trustworthy, and their opinions are regarded higher than that of someone with negative cred. For example, I would imagine UCCat's price checks are considered more reliable than anyone else's, I know I consider them so. Having a higher credibility shows that you have helped out more people, and therefore are more likely to know what you are talking about.

I actually agree with the bar being set so high. Giving negative credit is a privaedge and requires a bit of responsibility. It should take a lot of time for you to gain this right in order to help ensure you don't abuse it. If the site gave it out at a lower level you risk abuse. Plus once gwen didn't own me I was content with my credit level.
As far as the post goes I have seen it many times if you ask for credit you almost always get negative credit. Most people get annoyed when people post asking for credit, I am sure you did it as a joke but beggin for credit is like those lvl 4 cahracters in droks begging for money so they can get their armor. Just go out kill some stuff and you will get it eventually. Same goes here just keep posting the credit will come eventually.
**note**
I do feel bad that you have a negative rating so here is +10 to get you back in the positives. Also not a bad guide, they were a little rough on you about the bone horror (instead of flesh golem) thing but you should double check everything before you post it.
The true test of any technology is its ability to obtain porn.

I agree with the first part 100% but If the last two paragraphs are true then people should not be rewarded by giving them the ability to give negative credit to others at a certain point. Or giving them names to strive for (i am always curious to see what the next level is and don't want to cheat to find out) I really thing it was always intended to be a bit more.
The funny thing is the ones that are usually the most vocal about saying credit is not that important are those that have alot of it.

Honestly asking for credit is not the way to go about earning it, as it does tend to be looked down upon by a lot of members. If you want to earn credit, don't rely on getting it from the forums, submit something. If you submit things you'll get the credit. And then if one or two people rate your posts negativly, it isn't as big of a deal.
| QUOTE | | If it really is over 2500 then in my opinion the bar is set WAY TOO HIGH!!!!!! Seriously what percentage of people on this site are over 2500. It used to be that anyone could rate posts w/ negative numbers. This changed a while back due to new members coming here just to cause trouble. People who would go through and rate everyone with negative numbers just because they could. So we raised the bar a lot. I honestly don't know what level of credit you have to be to rate negatively, all staff has the power to do that with the staff powers. I do know that I wouldn't want it to be something that was easily reached either. Only those members who really contribute to the site have this power.
And It really wouldn't be right to make people state why they rated negatively. That would just cause problems, and I have no doubt hurt feelings. They rate because that is how they felt about the post. They shouldn't have to explain themselves to anyone.
And on a side note, we do pay attention to how people are rating. We can look up members and see what every post was that they rated. That way if someone is abusing the system (wether to raises someone's credit or lower it) we can catch it and put an end to it.

Hmm.. no offense, but... is there a negative level? I mean, is your level title "Gwen Owns You" as level1 members, or is that different?
Won't say anthing about your neg cred problem, since I didn't read your posts.

What makes me a little worried is the fact that some of those select few that have 2500+ cred on this site just give away negative cred to a new player that asks for his first few credits... This isn't the first time this happend!!
The moment I read this thread's title, I though ZOMG, they did it again?? Giving Negative cred should be reserved to admins only and in my opinion u shouldn't be able to give neg cred at all!!
What's the use of neg cred anyway? if some1 says something I don't like, I'll send him a pm, but don't give him neg cred, no use for that!
