When will AMP become an Elite GW site?

Well i have been here a while, experienced all the nice ampers out there and have seen all the fast, accurate and helpful posts to peoples questions. I was just wondering when if ever you will become a guild wars elite fansite? or wont they let you because you are a subdivision of a bigger website?

the reason is most more than likely be because of the Gold Selling ads at the top of the page

This topic has been posted before.

Somebody (kanna maybe?) said that GW.GA couldnt become an Elite site because its a multigame network.

Of course, imo, GA is much better than guru as a community and for expressing ideas.

I think it should be an Elite Fansite, 'cause it's better than any I've been to, very helpful, and has a good community. But I agree with Travis, it's probably 'cause there's gold advertising on the site. And the multi-network thing, imo, shouldn't really matter.

Well, IMHO the multi-network community thingy shouldn't matter, as ANet wants to promote sites by their content, not by who they are affiliated to.

And I can understand ANet being picky because of the gold ads, but what can you do...I guess it's a lose-lose situation on it...

Maybe we all cna keep our eyes open to promote this site so that it can be kept up without the Google ads :)

He, you are elite fan site to me... Most people who come here daily/weekly probably feel this is an official website. Isn't that more important then the actual title itself ???

This site should be an elite site because 1)everyone is nice here 2)i hate the way guru is set up. It seems awkward to me. 3)Lot less flaming than other sites.

I looked too and thought this was a topic in the last week or two myself. Maybe it was a spinoff of something with another title cause I can't find it either. Either that or we are both imagining it.

Heres whats required of an Elite site, we are meeting the requirements as much as we possibly can, we can expect to move forward with this but how long we don't know, just rest assured we are really trying!

im pretty sure its the multi site thing and i know that guru has different sites but they got it cause of some minor .com domain loop hole...at least thats what kanna or was it ED....w.e told me lol

From what I've always understood, the reason GW@GA isn't an elite fansite because of one reason:

That's just my understanding of things, but I think that I am at least mostly right. Basically, because the web adress is guildwars.gameamp.com instead of, say, guildwarsgameamp.com, we don't qualify.

The reason is the gold ads, if you read the expectations on their website, it says the removal of links that promote trading real items for ingame currency (thats not word for word but same meaning). This site is doing the opposite by promoting it. I see why gwguru is an elite website and I am a member there too. I use it for all my trading needs as I find it far superior to gameamp in that way. I prefer gameamp for builds and guides though. I think that once the gold ads are removed from here, there will be a much higher chance of amp becoming an elite website. Keep up the good work and please don't talk negativly about other sites, i'm sure a lot of people use multiple sites for guildwars info. I dont know exactly how the whole amp vs guru rivalry thing got started but I must admit I see it here alot more than i do there.

And it isn't like we aren't trying to become an elite fansite. I think mainly it is the ads that Google is suppling. We once went on a MASSIVE search and destory for these ads, but for each one we take out 10 more come in its place.

I read the requirements, and we actually do meet the requirements for an "Official Fansite", but not an "Elite Fansite" yet. All we have to do is apply i think.

So what's the possibility of the GameAmpers removing the gold advertisements?

I mean, I understand that there is a cost requirement for running such a large site. (ie- administration, bandwith, etc.) But there's got to be other ads that you can fill in it's place, isn't there?

I know that it's only a title and such, but even us non-AMP players really enjoy this site and feel that it deserves a little bit more recognition.

GuildWars.Gameamp focusses exclusively on Guild Wars and I think that's all that matters.

We have tried before. Gotten rid of hundreds of them. But for each one we block 10 more spawn in its place.
