Maxing Sunspear and Lightbringer titles

I am still not too far in the game but have been reading about issues obtaining the max lightbringer and sunspear titles. Gaille grey and others have said right not there is no direct way to do it but it can be done. As I dont want to get too far to take advantage of this what is the secret to maxing out the titles? Thanks for the help.

Also I found a great way to get Sunspear points is to bring a friend and each take your 3 heros (MM Healer and ELE) you can break into 2 groups and clear almost all enemies from the first couple zone in the area, you get points for their kills whether you are in range or not. I am at 3.5K now on my way to 7.5K for the next rank.

I run a P/Mo mending refrain build. Basically use anthem of flames to keep mending refrain up for +3 health regen. The monk can deal with the rest.

I'm not sure but the sunspear can probably be maxed just clearing area's over and over again. I'm at 8K now just from clearing marga coast a couple of times with just me and my 3 heroes (MM, healer and W or R)... I'm hoping there are some better areas a bit further in the game otherwise it'll take forever to max the title.

As for sunspear... I don't even know how to get them :P

I know right around there you can get some lightbringer points. There is a REZ shrine around there with some whispers guy instead of a priest. Talk to him and he will give you a blessing for lightbringer points for killing those lvl 24 elemental demons thingies

As far as I know now you don't get bounties when you hit Castellan (7'500 points) and you need another 7'500 for the max title.

My suggestion is:
- Go outside an area, get bounty and farm your way to Castellan.
- Don't take and complete any quests.
When you hit Castellan:
- Take and complete quests.

Be careful though. Once you reach Sunspear Castellan (Rank 8 - 7,500 Sunspear Points), the Priests stop giving you the bonuses to kill plants, insects, etc. I'm probably not that far ahead of you, but that's what I've noticed. The Whispers Informants also stop giving you the Lightbringer Bonuses too....until you get a little farther in the game. I think the only way to max out the Sunspear Title, unless they start giving bonuses again later, would be to treat it like leveling in Pre-Searing. You would want to farm as many Sunspear points using the bonuses given by the priests BEFORE you turn in ANY quests that give Sunspear Points. Basically, after you reach 1,000 points on Newb Island, do all the quests, except don't turn in any of the Istan quests that have points. Do the Primary quests until you get to the mainland, then farm Sunspear Points using bonuses. Once you get just a few points away from 7,500....resign and farm that area again so that you can max out how many points you get. Make sure you go get all the bonuses in the area BEFORE you start killing stuff though. If you get more than 7,500 points while in an area, the priest will stop giving you the bonuses. After you clear that area again, you should be a bit higher than 7,500 points. Then go back to Newb Island and turn in all your quests and do as many quests as you can.

That's the only way I can think of to max out the Sunspear Title. I'm sure the Lightbringer Title would work the same way.

I just looked back up at that huge paragraph....I hope you can make sense of it. If not...at least I tried to help.

Sooo that's why I didn't get the plant-bounty the last time I was in there...

Hmmmm... that might complicate things a bit :S

Still have a couple of hopes left:
* Maybe the bounties will work in areas I've not yet been to
* Maybe I get 7500 sunspear by doing quests from now on
* Maybe I can buy them titles on the black market - j/k

Damn wish i knew that before. I have actually done all but one quest on Newb island. Oh well guess I wont comlete anymore until I get to 7500. Hope they fix this soon.

Heheh.. my char is tyrian born... so no quests on NewB-Island... luckily I haven't completed a lot of quests on the main land yet.

Maybe you can get points for kills when a friend has the bounty... I'll check that out this evening.

On wiki I read explicitly the bounty-issue when you're at lvl 7 of sunspear track. But it didn't say something like that at the lightbringer track... maybe it don't work that way for lightbringer... I'll test that this evening too...

Farm Sunspear points until you have just under 7500 points... (No-one anywhere in the game will give Bountys to a Castellan).

Then, and be prepared to grind, find a Bounty for a Mob with a Monk (that resses). Kill everything except the Monk, put your Heroes on passive. Then stay in that area farming the other 7500. Kill the thing the Monk resses over and over again, in an area where you get 7 points per kill, you're gonna have to kill it 1000+ times.

Total quest points only adds up to about 2k, so you could probably farm 5k points this way.

Alternatively, you could wait and see if the unfinished areas of Elona offer higher bounties.

Right now the system has been designed so you cannot get anymore points after you reach Castellan. This is not a design flaw it is on purpose. The only way you can advance after that is if before you hit the 7500 points mark, and then get no more bountys, is to go into an area where the monk monsters can rez and get your bounty from the priest. Then you have to stay there and farm for a long time, of course making sure not to kill the monks or they stop rezing. If you zone out you will lose the bounty and therefore your only chance to hit the 15000 points mark. This is kind of a neat work around that some people found to get around the way the game was designed and get your max Lightbringer and Sunspear titles.

A conversation with Galie Gray hints at this but also mentions that there will be a more direct route in the future to be able to max your titles. Most likely when they add the elite missions in the future. It is also my guess that you will need max Lightbringer and or Sunspear to get to the elite missions.

It may also be possible to save all optional Sunspear quests till after you hit the 7500 mark so you can max your title but I am not sure.

I have spent a good amount of time researching this since I want those max titles. It looks like once you get to Vabi(not the correct spelling) you start to get 7 points per kill and my guess is that is also where monsters can rez but I do not know exactly where yet.

i've read a message of Anet somewhere (don't know where anymore, srry) that they are going to update in in a few months with new stuff, which would make it possible to reach the highest rank. Until then, we'll just have to wait.

im currently a mighty lightbringer, i farm points just outside the mission where u have to defend the fort, (to right of "mirror of lyss")

what i do is leave the the portal with a group of heros/henchies and talk to the whispers informant at the res shrine, then i go off farming DJinn and Ethers, trick is the ethers have res signet, once u kill one they will res him,

Kill the one who just used his res as unlike EXP u still get the points for killing a resed foe. this will increase ure points u farm, and as they are easier to kill with 15% DP will decrese ure farming time + increase ure profit in total.

just farm down the map to the southern portal where there is always a chest around which is 80% of the time max gold weapons, and repeat, there is a mesmer boss on the way which i have dropped 3 greens from so far.(he ccan be trickey most of the time hes no probs but every now and then i get wiped out for no reason, probs cuz im tired)

each run takes me about 5-7 mins and i get anywhere between 50-100 lightbringer points in the run.

other thing i do as this gets boring.. is i go up north and hop in a wurm, take all the Sunspear Hunts and Lightinger hunts i can find and go farming with ure 8 wurm party.. everything dies in a couple of hits giving u 1 lightbringer points per kill and 7 sunspear points per kill. i just farm the whole area and figure out best route (via res shrines) so that i can get maximum points per run :) drops and cash aint too bad either :) its always a bonus! :)

**EDIT**i would just like to add i am Mighty Lightbringer (4) (one more rank to go) and i can STILL take the hunts for lightbringer, however the sunspear ones, im rank (8) and cannot take the hunts anymore

Hope this helps people needing the info / or wanting max lightbringer ;) as lightbringer acctually does somthing to help you in the game :) extra dmg bonus vs deamons never went amiss! :)

**this may be viewed as a kind of spoiler or guide.**

i would like to add to this topic as its kinda related, the more lightbringer titles you go up then u start getting skills,

Lightbringers Gaze when ure rank 2 is so good.

example i had to do the bonus on Grand Court mission (in mirror of Lyss) and you have to do it in under 6 mins for masters

i made a team of lightbringers rank 2 and above and made them bring Lightbringers Gaze which does

100 Dmg to foe and interupts current skill, it also hits additional foes per rank or lightbringer,

so a team of 8 with this is minimum of 800dmg and to multiple foes (if used in a spike)

one hit of this and the unbound energies take 250 dmg and die instantly which stops them spiking your team.. but if u can split into 2 groups of 4 u can spike kill the torment gates and finish it quickly. u can basically run up to the torment claw and 3,2,1 spike and kill the entire group of morganites. (if they together) NOTE: U can even use this skill on a monk morganite with spell breaker on him/her.

so i advise to get lightbringer points whenever poss as they come in handy!!

As far as I'm concered as soon as you reach The Desolation you can get your Sunspear Rank higher.They give you 7 promo points a kill and my friend is Castellan and farms em up. So when you reach The Desolation they can go up.

You can't get anymore sunspear points once you reach castellan. I'm at teh desolation now and a castellan and the scouts etc won't give me anymore bounty.
