Skinning a Noob question

Okay I took Skinning and Tailoring as my skills I figured out you have to earn experience points in your trade before moving up to the next one (is that right tell me if I'm wrong) I figured out how to use my tailoring and I'm guessing that you have to make things to earn this experience. Skinning I'm having a problem I know how to skin a creature but how do I earn the experience on that one?

RE: Skinning a Noob question

You level up your skinning just by doing it. However, beasts you skin are only good up to a certain level. You can tell this by mouseing over the animal and looking at the color of the word "skinnable". If it's grey, the beast was too low level and you won't gain any points in skinning for skinning it. If it's green, most likely you won't gain any points, but it's possible you will. Yellow and orange will give you points in skinning almost all the time and red means it's too high for you to be able to skin it. It works the same way for all professions.

RE: Skinning a Noob question

Yep, yep. You level all your professions by doing them. It is quite nice. Just be sure to keep an eye on what you have compared to what you can get, so you can train up (you purchase the higher skill at the same place you purchased the origional skill).

Skinning will level up quite quickly, as you don't really have to go out of your way to level it. Just keep on skinning everything you can. And there is no shame in following someone around who isn't skinning, skinning their kills. I always make sure they aren't skinning before I skin, but it can really help raise the skill if you get in the right area.

I've also taken up tailoring, but what at what level can I start making my own items?

RE: Skinning a Noob question

As you skill up your tailoring check in with your nearest tailoring trainer and you will learn how to make new items.

Oh btw, enchanting is a better prof to go with tailoring imo. Because as you make the items and your tailoring skill goes up you can d/e (disenchant it) and raise your enchanting skill, in turn you will be able to give your own items enchants and all that good stuff.

idk just a thought

You can get basic tailoring at level 5 and make things that will be wearable, then level it up as you go you should stay pretty close to your level in gear.

At level 35 you can start making level 225-300 tailoring gear which is level 35-60 gear.

At level 55 you can start making level 60+ gear (Level 300-375 tailoring).

To skin a noob, you first need to take your knife and... ...what? Whaddya mean that's not what Villainess... ...ah, okay... *pushes captured noob into closet*

That wording of the title made me smile.

RE: Skinning a Noob question

Thanks to all for the quick reply. I finally got my Druid to Lvl 10 last night, and I ventured to Undercity to get some skill w/ other lands. The Tristiful Farm out there gives out tons of copper.. Thx for the advice on disenchanting. I'll definately look into that.
