I was thinking about this last night and was wondering what was life like before video games. What was there to do with all your free time? Then I started thinking about the games and...outdoor activities I used to enjoy before such things called video games sucked me into the house for good.
For me, I used to like playing any all types of football; tag football, tackle football and my all time favorite was kill the man with the ball. You versus 30 other people was always fun. No one ever scored a single touchdown in that game, but it was still fun none the less.
What was your favorite childhood, pre-video games, game?

Mine had to be football. Every day in school whenever we got a chance, we would play tackle football. And before that we played dodgeball. Ahhh the great game of dodgeball.
A game wheere you get a chance to peg somebody in the head. Man I loved those games.

When I was much younger my friends and I would always make movies with my video camera. I had hundreds of masks and props that we would always use for them. I still have about 50 tapes that I find myself watching often. It's funny how what we thought was action back then has turned into comedy. Just watching us when we were 12 running around and shooting cap guns at each other is so hilarious.

I know it's not a game but when I was younger I spent all my free time riding my bike. No matter what, if I was bored I always had my bike. I got in trouble once when I was 9 because I went to far one day. I when to go see my aunt cause I was bored and I never thought to myself that it was a long trip. It's only a hour and half by car and I made there in just under five hours. Oh to be young and in shape again, these days I don't even like walking to the fridge because its too far away.

Everyday I was on my bike riding, I swear I lived on bikes. All my friends rode as well, I can't remember a summer day when we were not going somewhere or building a half pipe behind the local grocery store, hitting the dirt jumps on the tracks or wreaking havoc on Main Street. Heheh, we got chased by the cops a ton of times, Ahh... the good old days.

I was a little monkey as a child. If you wanted to figure out where I was, you just needed to look up, because I was in a tree somewhere. I loved the woods and played in them constantly. My neighbors, my sister and I build dozens of forts throughout the woods near our house. I probably spent more time in the forest than I did indoors during those summers. The sad part of this is that forest I used to play in has since been logged to make way for a housing development.

Hmm. Flashlight tag was awesome. Not to mention legos. (Before the Pre-made set stuff that they make today. Those aren't legos. They're models!) I was also big into model rockets, my chemistry set, ("I blowed it up! I blowed it up gooood!") Then of course, there was the "Home Autopsy Kit." But, didn't we ALL love that one?
Really?
C'mon!
Like I was the only one?!?
I had a bad childhood.

Man, to be a kid again...let's see...
* Castle Legos were fun for a few years.
* G.I. Joes (I still have em in a box in my closet, haha)
* "Pins" in gym (phys. ed) class - like dodgeball but with some small wooden pins set up in the back of each half. Knock over a pin and you score a point and get everyone eliminated on your team back in. That game ruled.
* Street hockey & basketball with my cousin (lived next door to me) up through high school.
I gotta say though, I'm only 23, so I've been playing video games for almost my whole life (Atari, Commadore 64, Sega Master System, Sega Genesis...up till the new stuff).
