Did you know that one person died cuz of over gaming? lol it was some time ago and cant remember where but a kid played without eating, peeing, pooping, drinking for i think 24 hours and then died. Its kinda funny how ppl can be dumb like that. "oh my gosh im SOO hungy and i have to pee but i cant stop playing, its too good....too good... i cant.. ahh *dies*" lol

I don't consider the fact that someone died, whatever the circumstance, funny. How would you feel if that was someone you knew?
Gaming addiction is an increasingly common problem all over the world. There are even specific clinics set up to help people with these problems, when it starts to take over their lives.
I find your comment quite insensitive, even if you are trying to point out something "funny".
Edit: follup to above post:
| QUOTE | | Hmmm yes. That happened to a person in WOW (aka) World Of Warcrat if u didnt know. And that had a funeral in WOW and like everyone went it was masive. |
Erm, sadly none of that is true o.O
Firstly anet have nothing to do with WoW.
Secondly, although I may be wrong, but I believed it to be a Korean gamer, therefore most likely to be something like Lineage.
And the funeral you are probably referring to is an event that occurred in wow some time ago now. A person died in real life, and his guild friends found out about it and held a funeral for him, in game. A lot of people turned up to the even, and so did a lot of Hoard people who gatecrashed and ganked on everyone. They were protesting that the in-game funeral was disrespectful to the families involved in the death, and no matter which side of the fence you sit on, they made an interesting point.
Lastly, I'm watching this topic closely. There is a possibility for this topic to easily go out of proportion, so please, if you are going to comment, think about what you are going to say first.

It was televised and everything, all over the news, that was when there was the huge anti-video game thing.

indeed, for some reason about 90% of all the WoW gamers i've ever met in real life appear to be on Heroin or some other distorting drug.
a cashier i used to work with dumped her BF and he played WoW. i found this out when i jokingly said, 'what'd you dump him for, did he play WoW or something?' thinking she'd have no idea what i was talking about.
she replied... 'omg, i hate that game so much, he plays it none stop and tried to quit but can't... but that's not the reason, it's just really annoying...'
edit: i'm not immplying they're on drugs, they just remind me of Tweak from southpark mixed with the professor from the simpsons and a bit of stewie from family guy... that pretty much sums it up...

lol, yep, it seems when you start playing WoW, your appearance changes, because your always sitting in a chair, in the dark, eating food drinking soda/beer/water its really not a good mix, I can Play GW a little bit every day and be fine, i dont have to slave over it. Ive been at the beach all day, and i beat like nightfall today...

also a few years back, some kid commited suicide from everquest cause he let his friend use his account, and the friend ended up jacking everything off his account...the owner of the account took this so hard from the loss of work and "pain" he put into it (there was a suicide letter on why he felt he had to "off" himself) and he couldnt live thinking about doing it all over again...its very sad these addictions that some people get by not being able to grasp reality..my cousin got that way for quiet some time because his parents never wanted to deal with him so they stuck him in a room with video games...hes now 21 and socially inept(spelling)..he cant hold a conversation and has a lot of aggressions...but hes in college, one of the top of his graduating class, and on his way to becomming a pastor...but the addiction to games caused by his parents has screwed him up in some ways unrepairable..

Your not a victim if your doing it to yourself, he didnt have to stay in that room and do nothing but play video games. Chose what you do, dont let other people make decisons for you :/

Should just leave it, let their families do it, no need to cause a huge controversey over someones death, its already bad enough.

Theres a couple of ways that you can look at this. One way you can look at it as "Its amazing how people can care about someone they've never met in real life and actually want to pay their respects to the person" or "This should be left up to the survivors of the family.
I could imagine in like 3 years as the addiction of gaming continues to grow and people suffer casualties from extreme addiction or neglect of their own body this may come common. Maybe they'll change the EULA hm?
[ ] Check here if you wish for an ingame funeral to take place at the death of your real body.
[ ] Check here if you wish not to have an ingame funeral.
I could see it ^_^

| QUOTE | Online gamer killed over cybertheft
Chinese player stabbed to death after virtual weapon sold
Updated: 9:49 p.m. ET March 30, 2005
BEIJING - A Shanghai online game player stabbed to death a competitor who sold his cyber-sword, the China Daily said on Wednesday, creating a dilemma in China where no law exists for the ownership of virtual weapons.
Qiu Chengwei, 41, stabbed competitor Zhu Caoyuan repeatedly in the chest after he was told Zhu had sold his "dragon sabre," used in the popular online game, "Legend of Mir 3", the newspaper said a Shanghai court was told on Tuesday.
"Legend of Mir 3" features heroes and villains, sorcerers and warriors, many of whom wield enormous swords.
Qiu and a friend jointly won their weapon last February, and lent it to Zhu who then sold it for 7,200 yuan (US$870), the newspaper said.
Qui went to the police to report the "theft" but was told the weapon was not real property protected by law.
"Zhu promised to hand over the cash but an angry Qui lost patience and attacked Zhu at his home, stabbing him in the left chest with great force and killing him," the court was told.
The newspaper did not specify the charge against Qiu but said he had given himself up to police and already pleaded guilty to "intentional injury".
No verdict has been announced.
More and more online gamers were seeking justice through the courts over stolen weapons and credits, the newspaper said.
"The armor and swords in games should be deemed as private property as players have to spend money and time for them," Wang Zongyu, an associate law professor at Beijing's Renmin University of China, was quoted as saying.
But other experts are calling for caution. "The 'assets' of one player could mean nothing to others as they are by nature just data created by game providers," a lawyer for a Shanghai-based Internet game company was quoted as saying.

Becareful of who you scam!!
| QUOTE | S Korean dies after games session
A South Korean man has died after reportedly playing an online computer game for 50 hours with few breaks.
The 28-year-old man collapsed after playing the game Starcraft at an internet cafe in the city of Taegu, according to South Korean authorities.
The man had not slept properly, and had eaten very little during his marathon session, said police.
Multi-player gaming in South Korea is extremely popular thanks to its fast and widespread broadband network.
Games are televised and professional players are treated, as well as paid, like sports stars.
Professional gamers there attract huge sums in sponsorship and can make more than $100,000 a year.
The man, identified by his family name, Lee, started playing Starcraft on 3 August. He only paused playing to go to the toilet and for short periods of sleep, said the police.
"We presume the cause of death was heart failure stemming from exhaustion," a Taegu provincial police official told the Reuters news agency.
He was taken to hospital following his collapse, but died shortly after, according to the police. It is not known whether he suffered from any previous health conditions.
They added that he had recently been fired from his job because he kept missing work to play computer games.
