To die faster remove all armor and equip the -20 divine symbol quest reward from that one quest. (or buy one from someone who just completed the quest)
now moa birds kill me in slightly less time!

I think you start with the moa and/or the skale then when your a higher level go on to the charr

letting somthing kill u on a res shrine over and over so the thing gets Exp. then u respawn and kill it when its a higher lvl.. this means u can eventually reah lvl 20 in pre-seering

Yup, it was easlier done back when GW first came to be, but that time has come to pass. You just let the enemy kill you, then when it gets to a decent enough level to where you can defeat it, do it. Rinse and Repeat. :)

I've seen people say that death leveling no longer works, or no longer works as well, why is that? Obviously the monsters still level when they kill you, and there is still no death penalty in pre, so what made it easier some time ago? Did the monsters level faster?

Before the Charr would follow you to the Rez Shrine, and when you dye you rez and let them kill and so on. Til you felt the need to fight again. Now the Charr doesn't follow you that far, or they didn't when I tried it a monthish ago. Might have changed since the October 25th update.

No, when you die, you don't gain exp. Your Pet does however. :)

No you don't gain experience the whole purpose is for the enemies to get experience. Then you kill them at their higher level allowing you to get experience. The reason you have to do this is that if you want level 20 in presearing you have to kill enemies within 5 levels of you to gaine experience. Since there are no high level foes you must make them. To do this you lure them to the Rez shrine allow them to kill you over and over again, they gain experience, then level and when there are a high enough level you kill them for experience.
Personally I can't imagin how long it would take to do this but to each his own.

The basic principle of "Death Leveling" is this:
Once you have reached the highest atainable level in Pre-Searing (16-17 i think) you lure the enemie of your choice (Charr FTW) to a Res Shrine and let it kill you over and over again untill it is the same level as you or higher, so that when you kill it you gain XP from it so you can eventually reach level 20 in Pre-Searing.
The reason people want to do this is becuase of the new title added top the game "Legendary Protector of Ascalon" You get it by reaching level 20 in Pre-Searing.

you can't do charr, they don't pull to the res shrine anymore.
moa birds and pre searing spiders are the death leveling things of choice.

anyway, if this is true then i might have to stop playing nightfall for a while, hard as that may be.

Well wiki claims that there is a title called Defender of Ascalon I think, or something like that, which you get when you reach level 20 in Pre. I've not heard of 1 person to get it though, and I haven't seen a single pic of the title...

soo much for a survivor title on that character LOL, actually. .... if you did it with 2 people, one could die all the time, and then you could kill them without dying ... hence you could be lvl 20 in pre-searing and have survivor title! :D LOL .... that would be sooo sad to see LOL

yup, but you'd end up with 2 lvl 20's and one with a survivor title LOL ... it would take double as long though.

It's impossible to get both survivor title and the pre-Ascalon title if you use rez shrines, regardless of the number of players in your group. To rez at a rez shrine, all players have to die.

Good Point so the actual way you would have to do it is by rezzing the person each time they die which would even be sadder because they would not be able to do any of this AFK.
Been a while since I was at pre seering is there a rez skill other than rez sig? If not, I think this would be impossible.

Bringing a second person along is still pointless as the only non-monk rez skill available in Pre- is the single-use Rez Signet.
Even if your partner was a Monk who kept resurrecting you, as long as a member of your team is alive, the monster won't level up - thereby defeating the purpose.
To me, it looks like the single-player rez shrine strategy is still the best way to go.
BTW, do deaths in Pre-Searing get counted against the title?

Yes, according to guildwiki, the way to do it to kill foes until you are level 16, doing absolutely no quests. There are level 10 charr beyond the wall that will still give you xp up through level 15. At level 16, there is no monster that will give you xp upon killing it. So then you do all the quests in presearing. This should, according to guildwiki, get you to level 18. At level 18, the only thing to do is the deathleveling described above.

Oh, you have edited it. I saw you saying that they didn't and had to go check. So I changed my PvP char into a presearing char for now, went out and died.
So yes, they most certainly do count.

I knew that the Cartographer titles don't depend on mapping Pre-Ascalon, but wasn't sure about the Survivor titles.

Actually thats not entirely true, if the other person doesnt have rez equiped and is far enough away they automatically rez at the shrine.
