No way jlucido7 is going to pay that. Over a $1000 is already sad and sick. But $30K is nonsense. The winner will be in trouble.

This kind of thing and people paying to have there toons leveled are two things I may never be able to understand. If they have that much money I would be pleased just to have the interest of the transaction redirected to my monthly gaming fee. :P

That's what you call the "bleeding edge" of technology.
As far as I'm concerned, paying anything more than stanadard retail for a PS3 is something only retards would do. It will have very few games, and by next X-mas it'll be selling for 2/3 what retail is now.
On top of that, the first shipment is always rushed and under tested. They are paying all that extra to help Sony Beta Test the hardware under stress. So the models sold next year will have upgraded hardware and/or drivers.
I'll admit, I am a gaming junkie but that's just ridiculous. Proof positive that common sense isn't all that common for some :P

A guy from nashville TN bought a ps3 from the gamestop that I used to work at and he sold his for $10,000 on ebay and actually got the money....heh I know because I contacted him lol, I just had to see lol.

I think its sad that on the first day the ps3 has already gotten so high in price on ebay i found this which is a crazy amount of ps3 sold on ebay http://search.ebay.com/ps3_W0QQssPageNameZWLRS
People who are doing that should be ashame if you ask me. It's taking advantage of others who couldnt either preorder or get there on time. People are greedy lol! I mean come on it's a 100% profit on that console.
I really do belive that Sony got what they were asking for. I mean come on like 400 000 for the entire north america is like crazy small. All stores here were sold out way before they have even given a release date. It's all marketing but geez gimme a break lol
i just needed to vent ig uess :D
I love playstation btw just a lil annoyed by the them over pricing it. I feel taht there is not much of a difference between the ps2 and the ps3. Im happy with my ps2 right now XD

hmmm deadgirl have you seen some of the games actually being played or played them for the ps3.....alot of them are absolutely sick...while others are the sorriest excuse for a game I've ever seen but well it's launch and that's what you expect....like I played this dirt car racing type game earlier in Walmart when I went to pick up a copy of FFXII earlier this evening and it was like well watching a movie I felt as if I could jump up in the screen and walk around.....then I saw some of the launch releases on Xplay earlier and that Gundam game in particular wtf were they thinking with those lame ass graphics......looked like something you would have seen on computer back in the day.

I can understand why sony are charging like £420, its because of the blu-ray disk reader thingy ma-bob...i heard it costs something around (in USA money, cant be bothered converting to the great english pounds) $1000, for a single unit disk reader...then again, the only reason im getting PS3 is for MGS4 and resistance: fall of men (which is like gears of war just in the 1920's i think)

Yea ive seen the game in action and all. But im more old school ill trade graphix for gameplay and story line :) I was just a bit mad that ppl were selling it for ever 2k while Sony are losing money just selling them at 600 so that they are somewaht affordable. Greedy ppl grrr!!! lol

I think people aren't buying the PS3 to play it, they are buying it to sell it on eBay to chumps who will pay thousands of dollars for it. This is ridiculous.

Well, when you only have 400,000 consoles to sell, and you've got 40,000 stores to send them to, that makes 10 consoles per store. Those aren't exact numbers, but it illustrates why they only got 7.

They made so few b/c
1. they're a loss-leader (economic term for something you sell at a loss so you can sell something else at a profit)
2. they're having major supply-side problems
3. the release was already delayed around 6 months, so they decided to ship to market in time for holidays, supply-be-damned. That's why the internet-enabled PS3's require an immediate 5-10 minute update out of the box to update firmware for future backward-compatible updates.

I wanna welcome her with some credibility. :) Thanks for bringing up the loss leader issue. The PS3 is being sold for less than what ic costs to make right now to help establish the Blu Ray format and in hopes of making money from software and video sales later. Pretty brave consider what happened with the PSP video standard. Nice lively discourse and welcome new people and lurkers exposed alike.
