RE: USB Headset - take a gander

Try to install the drivers for it. :) Normally if your PC doesn't see it, then it is missing the drivers. :)

*edit*
Here is a link to their download page. :)

Plantronics

RE: USB Headset - take a gander

Since it is Plug and Play, I'm guessing it didn't come with any software. Have you tried plugging it into all usb ports, Restart the machine while it is plugged in?

Hmm, I really don't know what to tell you mate. Plantronics seems to have a few support options. You might wanna try to contact them. x.x I've exhausted my options. xD

Do you perhaps have any sound-device programs installed that might keep the PC from seeing the Headset? Sound card software perhaps? I really can't think of anything else, other than a faulty headset. Have you tried taking the headset to a different computer to see if it is seeable there?

RE: USB Headset - take a gander

I'm thinking you need to install motherboard drivers for the USB. Do other devices work on them?

RE: USB Headset - take a gander

My brother's new computer doesn't read USB things plugged into the front but it does in the back.
The motherboard wasn't hooked up to the USB plugs at the front or somehting, i forget...

Anyway, maybe you should just try it in every port (Like Kanna suggested) and restart it with the thing still plugged in..

EDIT: Things do happen, if it still doesn't work take it back to the shop with your reciept and get a new one.
There's a good chance the one you have is faulty.

EDIT AGAIN: I found THIS

Question
Where can I download the drivers for my DSP headset?

Answer
You can download the drivers from the website.

The newer versions of our computer USB headsets are plug and play and do not require any drivers.

The headsets use the Microsoft Windows drivers.

If you are unsure if you need drivers, simply connect the headset and see if the computer recognizes the headset as a default device.  If it does no drivers are needed from Plantronics.

The link to the drivers is on the page on the link I just posted. (The one that says "THIS".)
Although it may say you don't need drivers you probably do :P

RE: USB Headset - take a gander

Here's a suggestion too, but you may have tried it:

Go to Start>Settings>Control Panel>Sounds and Audio Devices

Under the Audio tab, make sure that your Headset is selected, not your speakers. Do the same for the Recording Device.

I've had this problem with a couple of sets of USB headphones.

Good luck!

See, there is a slight problem. There is no drivers for his headset. It is Plug and Play, I hunted al over that site last night x.x Though the updating the Mobo drivers, could fix it. Does the ports see anything else, or just not the headset?

Right click on my comp--> properties--> HArdware--> HArdware devices:

1) look for recently changed devices

2) if it is already in the list but with a "?" delete it and do step 1

3) Clean out your USB ports

4) google "type"+"problem" =)

RE: USB Headset - take a gander

Every headset has drivers.
If it's plug-and-play then it'll either install the drivers automatically from a ROM memory in the actual hardware upon connecting it or it'll use Windows Drivers.

As someone mentioned the latter is the case I'll assume that is indeed so in which case it all depends on your software.
The problem can be in a wide variety of things, included your Windows version, service packs, updates, patches or even any software program you installed that may have corrupted the files needed for the device to install.

In addition there are of course other possible causes which can be a problem with nearly any hardware you connect, such as an IRQ conflict or something similar.

For starters, I'd try to connect it, wait for it to fail installing and then check for any possible errors in your Event Viewer (Start -> Run -> "eventvwr").
If there's anything in there of which you're not sure if it could relate to the problem feel free to post the error details.

RE: USB Headset - take a gander

Well, you say it doesn't work after you installed the new harddrive...

well, the hard drive shouldn't really inflict anything with the USB devices, so that would be a mystery.

Does your heaadset work with other computers?

It rather sounds to me the headset is broken...

So, try the headset on other comp first.

PS: All USB devices don't necessarily have drivers, and even if they do, they still would be usable, as the Windows installs default drivers for them.

I guess you didn't read what I said very well, plus you're contradicting yourself by confirming what I said after saying otherwise.
Default drivers / Windows drivers are drivers too.
