| Anyone get a next gen console? |

Hey,
I was just wondering if any of you bought/plan to buy a next gen console. I happened to get a Wii this weekend, and its great!
Anyone pick up the Wii? What games did you get with it? Did you get enough controllers?
What about the other consoles (X360/PS3). What do you guys plan on getting?

my brother got a wii, so im going to have to get a controller and a nunchuck for xmas (60 dollars wtf!) and we got twilight princess,and of course wii sports, if you havent tryed out bowling on it its really fun, and also on mii, customize your character its really fun :-p

I am thinking about getting a x360 or a wii I can't decide. I would get a ps3 but it is too exspencive. Is the wii acually worth it? it seems like somthing that would only be fun for a short time. like you would want a friend to buy one and play it his house for a day.

I will be getting the PS3, but not for a while. The first generation of consoles is always full of bugs, so waiting for a while saves me money and headache.
And since I don't really plan on doing everything from my console, I'll just get the 20gb one.

I got an xbox360 last year and was pleased and was thinking about getting the wii this year. I think it will be neat with the movement control it has. I would love to get a ps3 but thats just a bit to much for my wallet if ya know what I mean.

I stick to my self-build Rig. Im not much of a console player, and i like to be able to do multiple things on such a machine. And most games come out in PC eventually ^^. Since im not much of a shooter and more into games like strategy, rpg and fantasy. A console wouldnt expand the amount of games for me since 90% is sports and shoot'em ups and the other 10% are also on PC.

I got Xbox360 and if your not sure if you wanna buy 1..buy 1 !!
I mean there r some good(maybe even Great) games on it but the best Xbox360 game is coming...soon...very very soon.
Gears of War ;) I tell you that game will blow you away ;)
If i get it i hope i will still play GW ... Let Cristmas come !

I've just bought a used sega megadrive 2 with some games. That's enough for my consolithis. :D I don't have enough money to just buy a new console... :-/

I'm planning on getting the Wii when i have got out of this fiscalally limited time period, and getting the new Zelda game along with it.

I shall buy a Wii 3 months after release. It's not out in the UK yet. But i'll probably get a US import one as us European gamers are once more getting shafted. Paying more for less as is always the case.
Might get a 360 a little bit after that too. Only way i'm going to play a PS3 is by testing. I'd rather buy one of those tickets to space from Richard Branson. They're cheaper.

i have had gears of war for a week now and omg...amazing. The playing style is absolutly amazing and the cover movement its abs. amazing. I say you should def get it cause it is one of my favorite games. A little short tho =( but online...O MAMA!

i think I'm sticking to my pc for a while. if i do get a next-gen console it's going to be the wii, because it seems more fun too play, and it's cheaper. I'm at least waiting for a while after they come out. this way, i'll avoid many problems like bugs, game range and getting trampled on like so many of the people that wanted a ps3.

I used to play a lot of console games but I just don't have the time anymore. Trying to manage real life stuff and guild wars at the saem time is already hard enough. Halo 2 was awesome, and I have beat all the final fantasy games (except the online one and the newest ones) including the one on gameboy and final fantasy tactics, but I think the PC is just so much more versatile then the console (although they are getting pretty advanced). I mean for the proce of the PS3 plus 2 or 3 games I could upgrade my computer.
I saw the people standing in line for weeks for the PS3, the only thing i can hope is that they are either: 1 getting paid to do it for soeone else, 2 Going to sell it outright for a couple grand. Otherwise IMO they need to get a life. I mean it is only a game and it will come out in larger numbers soon enough, to each their own I guess.
Well enough rambling and enjoy to all those who got one.

Well, I now own both the Wii and the Xbox 360...both of which I would highly reccomend getting.
The 360 was pointless to buy last year, but they are actually coming out with games this year and it looks to be doing very well. It also a very effective multi-media player, used by families everywhere, it's definitely not just a gaming console. Gears of War is fantastic, beat it on the medium and hard difficulty settings, and played some 3 vs 3 deathmatch (must have).
The Wii...one reason I got it...ZELDA, phenomenal, about 10 hours in. SUGGESTION: If you friend has a Wii and you plan on getting a controller to play with him, make sure you know what games you're gonna play, that will determine if you need certain things. I.E. if you play just Wii sports (lots of fun), no Nunchuck req....if Smash Bros Brawl, you'll need the classic controller I assume.
Wii is my definite choice over any of the new systems. Always nice to see what everyone else has to say about the new systems too.

I have a 360 with four games, and about 10 old X-Box games. Its a great system and still reasonably priced. I really want a Wii, it seems like the best deal in years. The PS3 i can't be bothered with, kinda hope Sony crashes and burns with that system, because if it is a huge success, it will set a trend for future consoles, "bigger and more expensive". No one wants that. I am glad to see the Wii recieving alot of possitive feedback. Maybe Nintendo will bring back reasonably priced systems with a game included back into the main stream. Hope they hit gold.

Mom don't let me buy anything before Christmas.
But i want the Wii machine,,, I NEED Super Smash Brothers,,, again,, it's so cool on gamecube.
Must have it to my collection too. Have the Nintendo 64 and SUper Nintendo, Sega, 5 gameboys shared with brother and more..:D
(then i will save some money, everything is cheaper after Christmas :D)

An update for all you Wii owners/potential buyers I bought Call of Duty 3 and its really great. The graphics are only a little better than Xbox, but the controls are amazing. It really has revolutionized the way FPS's are played.
I also got Marvel Ultimate Alliance which is good too, but I am short a nunchuck for my spare Wii-mote so my friends can't play yet.
If you see spare Wii-motes/nunchucks you should buy them up, because they are becomming near impossible to find.
I had Zelda since day one, and that game is fricking awesome. Nintendo really struck gold on this one. As much of a Playstation fan I formerly was (PS2 still lives on for me!) I'm pulling for the Wii in this race.

I own a 360, I love it! xbox live kicks arse, and the marketplace has tons of free demos and game add-ons to download (and a few things for a nominal fee)
I want a wii, should get one by the end of the week. my brother played it and said it rocked!
PS3? I am not gonna spend $600 to play resistance fall of man on a console that only has a 5 in 8 chance of working...
of course, guildwars is still the best bang for your buck...if only there was GW: wii edition...

that's quite insane... considering i built mine for just a little over 2,000 and it can run any current game (PREY, FEAR, whatever @ max without saccing gameplay)
when it does start to become "slow" i'll just add another 7900gtx and up the ram to 4gb instead of the 2gb that i'm currently at. the 4200X2 isnt the latest and i know that a 750W PSU isn't super high, but it's still vastly upgradable =) 23000 for a comp is insane.
on topic,
i was there chatting with the chaps waiting for their PS3's and Wii's when they were waiting overnight at the doors of the store i work at. =) quite funny watching them in -20 (likely under -30 with windchill) weather all huddled together...

A custom paint will never worth that much money for me.
Currently I have a quite "crappy" PC (socket478, can you imagine?) but it still runs all games I want it to run.

I have a teac DVD-rom, a pioneer DVD-rw, a SATA and two IDE drives and an nv6600xt, and my 350W PSU handles them well alltogether.
Usin a PSU which isn't used at least 75-85% is a waste. Not just money-wise, but performance-wise too.
And if I have to look forward, I'd buy either an 1950XTX or wait until the G80 will be at a considerable price.
About the 300+ gig of storage: as it seems, my good old 400MB harddrive got full far more slowly than my 160GB SATA+2x40GB IDE... but I can always buy DVD-R disks for archiving my data. (Which is photos taken by me or my friends, pictures drawn by my friends, programs I wrote, free documents I downloaded, so only legal stuff. ;) )
About consoles: wish I ever had so much spare money that my biggest problem would be which one to buy. :S Those consoles are not too expensive compared to UK or US or other purses, but compared to hungarian wages... /sigh
Well, I'll always be able to buy the new GW chapters about one week before it's released, so I'm not really complaining. :P
