Hello, I'm wondering how you take a screenshot from windows Media Player. It somehow dont work the usual way(Print Scrn, Paste to paint for example, save).
Instead of me seeing the pic i took a screenshot of, i only see black image, but i can see the corners of it;
I got a clip with a picture of Gaile Gray in real(!) that i wanted to post here.
Thanks!

I don't think you can capture screens in Windows Media player, or I have yet to figure out how. YOu can however capture screens in Quicktime. :)

Tools > Options > Performance > Advanced > in the Video Acceleration section Uncheck Use Overlays.

So here is the free and simple way to capture Images from Windows Media Player
* Open Window Media Player
* Then go to Tools | Options
* In Options, select the Performance Tab
* Way below you click on the Advanced Button
* Uncheck “Use Overlays’
* Click Ok
* And you are ready.

JW, does that change the picture quality of movies at all - well a noticable difference?

Dont think so, I remember reading some long-winded article on why the Overlay did that. If I remember correctly its basically un-needed....all it does is instead of putting the video in the WMP screen, it kinda creates a layer that the video plays in. So when you take a screenshot, it is taking a picture of the WMP screen, which is underneath the overlay, and is just plain black.
And, correction, you dont need to uncheck the high-quality mode.

try pressing ctrl+i before fiddling around with settings, f its a supported movie format then you'll be fine, if not, turn off overlays

Thanks for the info, never knew that before. The 1 bad thing is that takes the screenshot at the default resolution instead of what you have yours set to. I usually watch stuff on 2x size, as long as they at least have decent quality. Therefore using that method took screenshots at half the size i was used to.
Again, thanks for the info, always good to learn something new. :P

another example of microsoft not bothering to tell anyone how to use their products properly. not alot i can say about the resolution issues, only thing that i can think of is a proper screen cap program
