| Annoying pop-ups at gameamp site |

I get these really annoying "pop-ups" at this site. It's not realy a pop-up, but just when you want to click something, you get re-directed to some site that want's to scan your computer for spyware for free. [this is fake, cus it find's 100,000 spyware items and to delete them you need to buy the full program]
You have click cancel immediately if you don't want to have something bad happen to your computer.
Is this something that makes money so gameap stay's alive, or is it just very annoying for no reason?
P.S. I get this most when going trough the topic's and skill section.
Admin?? anywhere?

That is wierd it could be ad-aware or a trojan becasue I never get anything like that on my screen and I use IE7 (not lame firefox) but click here and check out thier downloadable anti spyware adware virus or w/e. Hope it helps

Well, I have recently just experienced this problem actually, just when I'm on this site. I put it down to a piece of spyware running on my computer, as it's happened more than once and I've not seen anyone else complain about it until now. I have run 2 different spyware programs and not found anything, but I'll make sure they are updated, run them again and see what I come up with and get back to you.

i been getting the same problem
i have IE 6.0 Firefox and IE 7.0
off topic:
one website actually said my version of firefox was corrupted.. when i was actually using IE 7.0 lol stupid website shows how alike the 2 are now.

I use firefox and I only got it on this site so far. Very weird.

Exact same thing happening with me, only on this site... never happened untill about 2-3 days ago, spyware scan came up empty... im usin firefox aswell.

Was about to post this problem myself tonight. I get the check register add as well. Kinda annoying when you just want to view anotehr page and that thing gets loaded. The real problem occurrs when you dont cancel it asap,
-Your 'pc' gets checked
- suddenly you have more spyware then programs running on your computer according to that program (which is NOT true)
- Then it gets reloaded constantly which has forced me to shut FF down the hard way.
When it happens again, ill make a SH and inform the powers

Ive been having the same problem.. I'll pass this on to the person that passes on to the Devs..

Dumdumdumdummmmmm..
They are probably the only ones that can fix this for everyone. Lets hope it will be easy to do.
DONT press yes or whatever on this pop-up or any other pop ups.. You will end up with a lot of spyware and spyware is a pain in the ***. Just click it away.

That makes us special together. :-P
Euhm, I've not yet experienced this but Iwould like to point out that it would unlikely help to "click it away very quickly" because I have yet to see human reflexes beat a modern CPUs instruction processing speed.
If I any script would be running in that popup it is certainly not going to be a 500MB script that takes a second to execute, neither would it be likely to have a delay in it.
So if anything happens there, it will either way - you can just take it easy and get a cup of coffee instead.

if u click it off and go back quickly it saves you the hassle of having it pop up loads of boxes and keep refreshing itself, i think thats what he meant by click it away quickly. as if u leave it a few secs then u end up doing a hard restard of ure browser.

Ok, I need some info about this. And a screenshot would be wonderfully helpful. I have not had this happen to me at all yet.
I can say it is not the person that was spreading the trojan on the site. That person had posted on forum posts, and posted comments on items that you can place a comment on, and had a VERY distinctive look to his posts (which made him easy to track down and get rid of the posts). Also, he had a very specific purpose.
This sounds like ad-ware, or maybe some ad gone wrong. I need to know the name of the site that is doing the "scan". And if someone can get a picture it would help out greatly.
And for those it has happened to, are there any particular pages it happens on? Can everyone list the pages that it happened to them on so we can get a comparison going to see if it is just happens for a few pages, or if it happens all over the site.

Also please note, that I'm moving this topic to the Site Feedback forum, so I can check it easily to see if there are replies.

Well the site isn't supposed to have any pop ups at all. That is one thing that we have made clear to google. And when I hear word that there is one (and a very annoying one at that), I need to get info so we can get rid of it.
I HATE pop ups myself (one of the reasons I love Opera is the pop up blocker). And I don't want GameAmp to have them.

I have the same thing aswell , yesterday i had a weird pop up , bleh , something about my laptop saved things and that i would be good to dowload the stuff , it also says something about creditcards :s

Just use Opera Web browser. hehe, no popups allowed is an amazing option :D

This has also happened to me, although very little of it. I get the same site as everyone (if "everyone" else get the site on Trib's pic), but it haven't always happened here on amp, I rather think it's happening at random sites.. Dunno how I got it...
And yeah, it's not a popup, it just redirect your whole internet site.. you have to close the whole thingie down to make it go away...
UGH, really annoying... >_<

Firefox 2.0, no popups (not even a "there was a popup, I halted it" sign).
Flock 0.7.7, no popups.
I recommend a good firewall and a good antivirus. (And no, norton antivirus is not good, and the built-in microsoft firewall is not a firewall.)

I had it with firefox 2 too, z couple off days ago. The site that was loading (a gameamp topic) suddenly changed in a window with the message that my pc was infected with the trojan Win-blabla. That sounded very familiar with the trojan that we last had in the maps section. SO I looked at it and suddenly a 'virus scanner' started downloading. I didn't trust it and aborted it, and then did a full pc scan with my Lavasoft Ad-Aware. He found two trojans with the name of the virus scanner... I deleted them, no problems since then.
