Need virus help

It seems that i have a virus called "Jeefo". I havent noticed any real effects on my system, but it attempts to spread to other computers (which is why i dont use IRC anymore for your safety) and youve gotta figure it has to do something to you. I downloaded software to remove it, but it infected hundreds of files, including essentials like svchost. A good half of the files cant be cured, and the only alternitive would be to delete tham, but that isnt an option as many of them are incredibly important W32 files. Any suggestions on how to get rid of this evil evil thing?

Pizza...BrokenClaw is working on allowing you to get back into the IRC so we can help you fix this problem. We'll get in touch when BC has that done and get you back on.

You really need to follow the link Van gave you and see if that can fix it. Hopefully it will. If it can't then you really should look at doing whatever is needed to remove that virus as it is very evil and you may be iffecting hundreds of people on other networks without realising it.

We have however made it so that the files it tried to send should be blocked. So you can now join the IRC network again, but please try and clean the virus off your system for your own good, and those of other people you chat with on the Internet.

Re: Need virus help

Trying to remove a virus after Windows is already infected and the virus involves such critical files as svchost.exe can be very difficult. You need a way to be able to boot into Windows cleanly, which can mean installing a second copy of Windows to an alternate directory such as c:\win2 with a dual-boot configuration, or onto a spare hard drive temporarily added to the system as the master.

Once you have a clean install of Windows running alongside the original infected but dormant version, you need to install your anti-virus software and then scan and repair the entire system. The anti-virus software may end up deleting some files such as the aforementioned svchost.exe. There are several ways to restore the files, but one way is to just copy over their counterparts from the clean install.

Good luck.

AAAARRGH! my pc's been infected by Jeefo. It's not showing up on virus scans but it fits the description that URL gives. Is it possible that I got it by listening to the MMO Radio stream?

I doubt it Canada Man, my computer has no symptoms of Jeefo, so I think we can rule out the stream as a possible source.
