I'm trying to get survior on my monk. Does anyone have any tips on how to get it.

Take it slow and play with henchies. :) If you are playing Factions or Nightfall, it is easy to level up on those two campaigns. It is kinda slow in Prophecies. But Henchway is key. :)

Skill capping is the best way to do it, most people seem to have found. One of my guildies got Level3 Survivor on his Paragon in Nightfall purely using hench, and purely from skill capping. He refrained from taking it too far into the game and was generally very cautious when venturing out into new areas. It took him quite a while, but everytime I logged in he was doing it, got it a week or two after nightfall release, roughly 150 hours or something.

I have to agree with Kanna. If you are going for survivor, you are going to be quitting quickly when things start to get bad. This tends to tick people off. If you are ok with really ticking people off, go ahead and play with real people. If you really want to make people made, try leaching. Take an Assassin secondary and bring recall, just cast it on a monk or something, and stand still, let them go through the mission without you, since they can't kick you, and just keep removing recall and casting it again after the team isn't in any danger.
I am in no way condoning these actions, it's something some dang sin going for survivor did to me when I was monking. Made me so mad, because we knew he wasn't afk, and I couldn't remove recall myself, and he was staying too far back for us to pull enemies on him to get him killed.
But seriously, play with hench, make sure if things even start to look bad you quit. Other than that, just kill things and do quests to level normally. If you are good enough, once you hit 20 and get the first rank, you can try farming places for more xp, but that is much more dangerous, because if you die, you will likely die a lot faster, and so won't have time to quit. If you are really going for Legendary, you will probably have to farm to get the xp in a decent amount of time. I have only one character above 1.337 mil xp, and all of mine have done a good deal of quests and all missions in two campaigns, and some of them in three.

Edit: Doh! Forgot about skill capping. I'd still say just play to level 20 very carefully to get rank one, then start capping so you get the full 5000xp from each skill. If you do that, it means you only have to cap 240 of the 291 elites currently in game, so you could eliminate 50 of the hardest ones, which would be helpful. However you do it though, it's going to take a really really long time to get rank 3.

I'm surprised nobody mentioned using Rare scrolls to help you along the way. Getting an extra 150% XP (and more) per kill should help immensely.

Tip #2 from me:
Don't be MY warrior...over 500 deaths. I'm STILL trying to figure out how I got over 250 deaths since the last time I looked....

if u have factions, make it to lutgardis alive and just ff doorman the majority of your way to legendary. gets boring every now and then so you could cap/do missions also, but it is def the safest way to get legendary, fast too.

I am taking it super safe, because on factions, my minion master is lvl 16 and still hasnt left the mainland. i still have like 4 4000 xp quests to do and then im off. i have don the zen daijun mission at least 3 times and cap son at least 5. I also use a ton of xp scrolls bought for about 200g apiece.

I think my warrior should win the Grim Reaper Food title since he has 800 or so deaths...but yea just bring tons of self heals incase worst comes to worst. And like Brynden said since u get ur own survivor skill set to save urself it really pisses ppl off.
P.S. The title isn't real and 100 posts!! woot!

Not calling you a lier,but I find this very hard to believe seeing as I am currently seeking rank 3 survivor.I started the char in prophecies and I am level 2 now.I have done almost all of prophecies,all the quests that are given in Kaineng and the surrounding area,and I just finished the CrossRoads mission in nightfall.I have capped 94 elites,and Im still not to level 3 yet.I am currently at 1,226,985 exp,and you need 1,337,500 for legendary.For now I have ran out of bosses to cap skills due the factor of possibly dying.Ive done all but a couple of elites in nightfall up to the point I am now in game.And the hours I am around 200 or more.(didnt look)I also started this char about 2 to 3 weeks before nightfall was released.
p.s I am not new to amp,I have been coming here for about a year now.Just didnt register till about a month or so ago.

I didnt really worry about working towards the title, but my lvl 6 MM is on her way to it. I'm kinda suprised that i've made it this far without dying, though I guess spike healing yourself for 260 helps a good bit.(taste of death :P)
Since i've gotten the title track, i've decided to try for the title anyway. So I plan to just hench/hero my way to the title, though I only plan on going after (1) so I can say I at least made lvl 20 without dying.
I've actually found the MM to be the best for staying alive, on my ele, paragon and dervish. On all 3 of the other characters, I got killed at least once by the time i was level 5, closest i was on my MM so far was about 30 health, and thats from degen, not attacks. A quick Taste of Death at that time put me up to full health. :D

Well, welcome to Gameamp. :)
I find it hard to understand why you would choose to not believe me, being a long term forum member and also staff, but that is your perogative. I'm not prone to lieing...much :P
The guy in question is in my guild, of which I am an officer. He was on every time I logged in for a good couple of weeks after the release of nightfall. He used xp scrolls and skillcapping, and not much else, to my knowledge. Oh, and a lot of time and patience. No idea how many skills he has capped now, but I'd guess at roughly lots :P

Edit: Bear in mind this guy started in Elona, which is much easier than Tyria to get the title, due to the large number of bosses available quite early on in the game, and the ability to use customised heroes effectively.

lol yea I see how that would confuse others,but it was for the level of survivor.So meaning level 2 survivor.
After alittle more capping and playing after first post,I am now at 1,264,694 exp.Just 72806 exp more to go.
And I think Im at 98 elites now also.

damn this title is scary to get. my first try was with a rit and i only made it to 320k exp b4 i got warden stomped doing quests in arborstone. i died in less than 2 seconds. churning earth with charge on (knocked down with a nice brambles laceration effect) then warden of the tree hammered by 2 lvl 24 ones with a nice conjure phantasm from something in the area. i wasnt happy.
currently im still alive with my assasin and i just got lvl 2 survivor. henchies and questing and capping are the best way to do it. henchies and heros are smart now and u can make groups with heroes that totally help eachother. i use an orders necro hero with 2 barrage hereoes. order of the vamp works great with double strikes.
i almost died yesterday doing the battle of turai's procession. triple invoke lightning and down to 2hp! so lucky i survived.
anyhoo if your not capping i suggest that u use assasin as your secondary (or primary). dark escape + frightened neutrality is amazing for dmg absorption. dark escape makes u run fast and take 1/2 dmg and frightened neutrality gives u +80 armour and +7 health regen for a few seconds.

lol you think 800 deaths is alot! i have 1350+ deaths on one of my characters (My first one since august 2005) then i need Superior Grim Reaper Food title
