Paragon/Ranger

Hey all, very silly question but can the paragon use alot of ranger skils to its advantage since its ranged piercing dmg? Im not talking about bow attacks but anything else?

RE: Paragon/Ranger

hmmm don't think so, maybe apply poison.

warriors have mellee attack skills ( can be used be A and D )

but rangers don't have 'ranged' attacks, only bow.
so IMO, P/R isnt what it should be.

RE: Paragon/Ranger

what i was thinking was it would be cool if anet would make ignite arrows and kindle arrows for ranged physical damage, then that would make an intrresting spear attack for the paragon, but thanks anyway. Do you have a suggestion for a good 2nd prof for paragon?

I run P/Mo for the reusable res, P/R for the Apply Poison & P/W for Watch yourself and Sheilds up. I tried P/E in hopes of scoring a Fire spear head, but that never materialized. Otherwise, I'd run it as a P/E with Conjure Flame.

RE: Paragon/Ranger

watch yourself was in fact nerfed and buffed at the same time.

the armor and time in effect have been set to be tied with the attribute level of tactics.

RE: Paragon/Ranger

2 things

1. watch yourself is still great as a P/W for ensuring your refrain echos stay up (mending, aggresive, bladed) I use it in a 4 man farming build and can keep +4 mendingon everyone which mean with some other defensive/heal skills I dont need a monk. In addition it is a great energy management tool as with a leadership of 10 and 5 party members in range you get +5 energy each time you use it.
2. I use a fiery spear and it works very nice in conjuction with mark of rodgort. I can't remember the name exactly but I think it luhlah's spear (you get it right outside Kondor's crossing on the estate side.) took me forever to get but it finally dropped.

RE: Paragon/Ranger

I run a pure-Para build, but I've seriously considered running a P/R BeastMaster build using a skill combination I thought of, namely:

"Find Their Weakness" (Target ally causes Deep Wound on next critical)
"Go For the Eyes!" (Allies within earshot gain massive boost to critical%)
And of course, a pet named Boo.

Other skills in this combo would probably include:

Charm Animal (of course)
Comfort/Revive Animal (also of course)
Predatory Bond (for healing)
Call of Haste (for damage and boosting predatory bond)
Anthem of Flame (for setting foes alight; this also makes Bears the pet of choice since they use an attack skill on their own)
Signet of Return/Sunspear Rebirth Signet/Ressurection Signet (obligatory ressurect)

I've not tested it out, but it just looks and sounds like a fun build to me.

RE: Paragon/Ranger

I have quoted a post that I made in another thread below. I personally like Ranger as a second for Paragon just for all the degen.

QUOTE
I'm using Ranger as my secondary for my Paragon for 2 skills basically.....Apply Poison and Troll Ungent. I added TU after finding out that I was spreading my attributes too thin across too many attribute lines. Since AP and TU are both Wilderness Survival, TU became the obvious choice for my self heal.

As for attributes, I haven't added any runes or insignias to my armor yet, so they're pretty basic:

Wilderness Survival = 8
Spear Mastery = 12
Command = I think 9, not sure though
Leadership = left over points

I use only adrenaline skills from the Paragon line and have no real issues with energy management. As for the skills I use....here they are:

Apply Poison
"Go for the Eyes" or Lightbringer skill
Signet of Return (mission) or Signet of Capture (exploring)
Troll Ungent
Barbed Spear
Wild Throw
Blazing Spear
Cruel Spear

I really like this build because all of the conditions that you're putting on your enemies. You've got Poison, Bleeding, Burning and Deep Wound. With coordinated attacks, most enemies go down pretty fast. You'll see a lot of the enemies remove the conditions, but the great thing is that you'll just put them right back on again :D

The only problem that I've found is that some enemies are basically immune to conditions like Poison and Bleeding. The good thing is that Burning and Deep Wound still work.

I hope this helps.
