A christmas gift for n00bs

I want to first say that there was no degrating tone to my mention of "n00b", I was simply refering to the common term used to someone new to the or a game.

Allright, me and my guild have decided to do a bit of charity work for christmas. We are gathering a central fund where members of our guild and alliance are contributing whatever money they can. The money is recorded and will be distributed to the officers of my guild (who have earned their place there due to maturity and trustworthyness), and they on chrtistmas day will go in ascalon and will look for people with low levels or other such indications, invite them to team with them, and will begin casual conversation. They will discretely ask how long the player has been playing, and if the person has only had GW for 2 weeks or less, we will give them 1K free along with free weapons (Im saving up max damage low req weapons and purple for that purpose), they will be wished a Happy Christmas, and the officer will move on to another district or so. Hopefully, the act of uncommon kindness will have them remember that christmas where some random person invited them, gave them free stuff and disapeared into the night ^-^.

If you wish to adopt the program for your guild or for yourself please feel free to do so. you can either give out the money yourself or if you wish you can contribute to our central funds. You can Pm me; Psychosis Incarnate if you wish help getting your own program together or if you would like to contribute to this project.

That's a real nice thing to do, you and your guild should be examples to all other guilds out there how to show some care for those who just recently began learning the game.

I mean, the way I figure it out is; I never got any help. Most of the people I met were greedy hypocrites, and it really would have helped to have someone there for me, to tell me a bit of what I should and should not do. Which is also why I created a "Adopt a newb" program in my guild some time ago where we find such a player, and "adopt them", by helping them with missions, giving advise, buying some armor and weapons, ect...so Im just doing for others what was never done for me, and it feels good inside. People forget that this is a game, and that this money isnt really there, its imaginary, but with it, you can do "real life" good deeds.

To the best of my understanding, "n00b and noob" are derogatory terms meant for those that have been playing for along time but are clearly poor at the game. And "newb and newbie" and terms for ppl that have been playing the game for a short time and dont know any better.

Hmmm, hmmm, hmmm...MR. WANDERING/TRAVELING SCRIBE, LOOK NO FURTHER...I think that should suffice.
That sure is nice of you, unfortunately I have neither the things to give nor the ability due to my busted graphics card, so go get in the christmas spirit for me, I'll try to get on and start raising funds but more or less I can't play for ten minutes straight. I am liking this idea Psychosis. Although I don't play GW, this is a concept that can be adopted on all sites/games. I remember first starting off playing CoX and the lack of help that I received during certain parts of the game.

This is the type of spirit that MMO's need across the board just to remember that at one point and time, we were all new and needed some type of assistance.

I applaud you and your guild for taking the time to think of others.

If you don't mind, I'd like to take this thought back to the CoV side of the house and see if we can get some type of generous feelings sparked (kinda hard seeing we're a bunch of Villains, but we do what we can).

I've been using this sort of idea when talking with other Guild Members. May not be on such a grand scale like you are doing (Money, Items, etc), but I do ask that the Members at least be civil and kind to everyone, until they do something otherwise first. It's the least we can do since we don't have much to throw out. Great idea in all.

I hate to disagree with you, but yes, there is a difference between noob and newb.

a noob is someone who has grasped no concept of the game and makes themselves look like a complete idiot.

a newb is a person who is new to the game, but is knowledgable and grasps concepts more easily.

noob: "HAY GUYZ WHERES STORAGE? *spams 6 more times* GUYZ SUM1 TELL ME PLZX!!111SHIFTYLEVENTY"

newb: "hey, where's the storage? *someone tells the person where it is* ok, thanks"

Really nice concept. I started something like this before call the "NPA" Newb Protection Agency Which me and about 10 other poeple will do almost the exact thing but we found there are many liers in this game =P Good Luck with your idea

ToD and AMP I think this would be a good idea to adopt. I really like the thought that you dont advertise it but rather talk to people first and make sure they are deemed "worthy" I guess you would say or deserving of it. I hope that this works really well, and I think if we can get a bunch of guilds and people doing this, then this would be a holiday for a lot of people to remember :P

Glad to see admins checking out our sites from across the board, and I hope that this idea spreads on to all the other mmo's as well :)

to be safe though I would reccomend "nice holidays, or wintersday"

i random invited 3 lvl 5 and unders to my party in ascalon dist 1 and dropped an invantory of golds, greens, and some squishy, pink gold (u kno wat it is). the 3 ppl then pm'd me and said that they had over 100k each alrdy. 2 of them gave em back but the other one just walked SoaB...
