The XSI Revolution

I recently wrote an article regarding my guild's project to give out money and items to new players at christmas. I though I was simply going to share my idea with the community and hopefully get some feedback to better our project. Instead, I got something so much bigger; people from the forums and not came and offered support to my guild alliance. So far, we have made more than 30K is donated cash and have been very generously given green items, among them things such as a Green exahlted aegis, which will actually be GIVEN AWAY...to new player at christams. Players have contacted me saying that they are following our example and have started the project with their own guilds. I have been receiving PMs all night ingame from people who wanted to show their support, and to all these people, thank you, thank you so much for providing me with the support I could never provide on my own. I just hope that people keep coming up and helping.

I wish to make a guide of sorts for all these guilds demonstrating how to find such people, because the last thing we want is the people in our project advertising "Free money to low level people" or such things, because I dont believe in giving it to people who dont deserve it. I hate to judge, but I have met a lot of new players who I could just tell would be future scammers and spammers and flamers, just in their attitude, so identifying that is important. I believe that you can simply go in ascalon, Shing Sea, or Kamadan, pick someone out of a crowd strategically, and ask them simple question which will answer what you wish to know. I have done this in the past even though it wasnt christmas ;).

So heres the plan:

During the 7 days of christmas, my guild alliance and anybody who wishes to join us will be going to the following towns; Old Ascalon, The Shing Sea Monastery, and Kamadan. an easy criteria is someone who is low level, and possibly doent have a guild (also give you a chance to recruit friendly people in your guild, something I have done in a past "Adopt a Newb" program). Team up with them, and be very careful to notice their attitude. If they are obviously acting like your some kind of bother, leave, and find a new one. A "good" n00b is one who is happy to see you, offer him help with quests, walk outside with him (just you and him), try to use a lvl 20 char which can totally own most of the stuff outside, give him a demonstration of the total power of cuh a character (its easy in starter town ^-^). Give him all the drops and have casual conversation with him, after a couple minutes, if this guy has been nice and ect.... the criteria I will be using for christams is the following; 1-2K standard, if ranger give him a shadow, eternal, or storm bow (they can be clean or slightly modded), and if they are given a green, tell them to hang on to it and not sell it under any circumstance, and that they will need it when they are able to use it. Tell them to add you to friends so you can help them in the future, excuse yourself because you have to go, formal exit, begin again. So, thats pretty much the basic.

I dont expect everyone to do so, I know some people do not have the means. The people I hope to target are people with hundreds of Ks. When I see people with a 1000K, I feel nauxious cuz thats so much money, I would never buy fissure armor, why? because Id be happier using that money to make somebody's day, and know that I used a game to do a real life good deed. So if your rich and dont know what to do with all that money, add me on your friend list and let me show you more fun than going out and spending that money on a crystaline ^-^. lol

More to come, and with honest regards,

~Xsi

Btw, some people were surprised that my guild is actually not that large. We are Xsis Revolution, and have a Luxon alliance of 300K faction right now. My guild has only 15 people, but thats because we all kinda know each other in a way, so it feels like a family. We would like to start GvGing soon and ect... but we need more members. We are trying to own a town and believe in all aspects of game, PvP and organized farming. Members are funny, willing to help, and all show a unique personality. ...sorry, Imd one with my rant, its just that we are a good guild, and we want to go higher, but need more people.

Again, thank you,

~Xsi

First post FTW!!! Oh, and that was deep. Its a good thing you guys are doin' there. Good luck with more money. But think about it, is it really that kind and charitable if you're just giving virtual stuff away that will actually never provide any bit of benifite to their life? I mean, gosh, its just a freaking game for crying out loud!

I think the goal of this "campaign" is to spread holiday cheer. Sure we could all take $10 and find someone less fortunate and give it to them, heck it's a good idea. But we all play Guild Wars and what better way to spread that cheer than by giving out some of it to folks you don't know. Even though we're spreading this cheer in-game, it doesn't mean we're not going to spread it in real life.

I think this is a wonderful idea and I wish you the best of luck with it. Rest assured, I will be doing the same thing, helping you guys out. Besides it sounds like a great way to clean out my inventory!

Kudos to you, your guildies and your alliance.

Happy Holidays!
