| Polish language in Guild Wars |
|
|
|
From the Guild Wars website
| QUOTE | Guild Wars Language Support Grows 11 December 2006
Players who speak Polish will be happy to note that language support for Polish has been added to Guild Wars. Use the drop-down menu to select Polish from the 10 languages now offered for players! For all those who will be joining us for the first time, and for those for whom Polish is your language of choice: Witam w Guild Wars! |
Now I am wondering, why are they adding the Polish language to Guild Wars and why not (just as an example :P) the Dutch Language. I believe there are much more Dutch people playing Guild Wars than Polish people. Not that I care that there is no Dutch language, English is fine for me, but I'm just wondering, why Polish...

Lol, no more than german, french, spanish, and a lot of the other languages which already feature. Certainly nothing compared to Korean, Chinese scripts etc :)

Well, I am dutch and I have never had any problem with not having a dutch language in the game. also, dutch people are commonly known to speak proper English (all be that far from reality sometimes).

Maybe they did it because Polish people don't understand other languages very well, where Dutch people can understand many languages (school ftw?) quite well.
I say it again, I am Dutch and I don't mind playing an English game at all. It's even good for my English vocabulary ^^

I personally hate games with Dutch interfaces etc.
They always transelate it into some silly dutch words,
too litterally.
An example I found: NFS Underground1:P

Actually they are all supported. The only european language that isn't fully supported is the hungarian: instead of our ő and ű the system only shows a space.

I'm not really one to point out idiotisms...but theres no such language as american. People in the USA speak English, they just have their own slang, which isn't even consistent across the country.

Actually, american english and british english has a LOT of differences. Like, small differences (i.e. gray-grey, color-colour, diarrhea - diarrhoea, etc), or thesaurus differences (noone vs no-one), and even some differences in meaning too (like, first floor: in GB it's the second level of a building, in US it's the first...). British english is more strict, thus easier to learn - american is less strict, thus easier to speak.

Quit true there is not an official language called american. The english in the US differs from the english in england just as the other places that have english as their language also differ. In the US you have to take into account the various types of people that made up the country. We adopted several words into our mainstream language from their nationality. We have words that derived from French, German, Spanish, Cherokee, Sioux and so on. This mixture of the different types of people is also how most of the accents were founded.
I'm neither here nor there but everywhere. I am who I am and nothing more but yet I'm nothing less than what I strive to be.
