I'm satisfied with the Fire Melee, since my Tanks are Invul/Fire. I may not one shot, I haven't seen any other Tanks one shot, but Build Up + Greater Fire Sword + Incenerate = Dead Baddy.

Yea i have thought about energy, and fire. Ice is out of the picture for me become of the 'low damage output'or so ive been told. one that has caught my interest is Super Strength, any comments on that build? Thanks for the imput so far, i stillhave not made up m mind.

Lenway, he's talking about a tank. This is the Tanker boards, after all.

With that in mind, Energy has great DPS, while SS has great damage mitigation, something Fiery Aura lacks. /Fire has good synergy in the late game, but is a lil lacking till the late 20s. My advice? Go Fire/SS. SS will keep you alive a lil better, while not hurting your damage output.

I may not have any personal experience playing a Fire/ tank, my SG leader has an aweosme fire/ fire tank. Yes, he doesn't one shot, bu it doesn't take long for anything near him to be kissing the floor.
I myself have a Stone Armor/Super Strength tanker. I'm always an admirer of the elemental armors. But since you have an interest in SS, i'll say my 2 cents on it. Damage is goodfor a while, but once you get rage, you'll be able to crush about anything with ease. Rage has a crash, but once you get in the groove of it, you'll be fine. A little endurance loss, and Only Affecting Self for about 10 seconds won't be the end of the world. I skipped over punch, and hand clap. Punch did ok damage, but i opted for another armor instead. I only used hand clap to get stuff out of my way if i needed to be somewhere (like that stupid ritki hunt in the sewers with all the hydra men in the way. RAWR!).
All in all, if you do make a Fire/SS tank, enojy the build, anything other than Invul is always welcome. =)

I'd go for Fire/Fire. I have a Fire/Fire Tank, and I love him.

If you have Build Up and Fiery Embrace... +180%DMG for 10 seconds and +100% for another 10 seconds!

there are actually a few good secondaries for fire/

ask brimstone titan about stone. i tried it for a few levels and it was pretty good.

energy melee looks good and hits kinda hard. i've had a few fire tankers with themes involving throwing a can of fresca into a fire and it exploding thus embedding the power of fire/energy into my toon. my latest is called Frescana, but previous encarnations were called captain fresca, commander fresca.

ice actually goes well with fire since it's considered gimped. ice is the most troller-like tank secondaries and has great damage mitigation via ice patch, freezing touch and frozen aura.

SS is really cool too for fire/.

I have a Fire/Ice Tank that I like. He is only level 16 but I am definitely looking forward to trying out the Ice Patch + Burn Patch combo.

The only thing I don't like about a Fire tank is the lack of knockback protection.

Yeah, the Jumping pool for movement is pretty much required for the Fire primary unless you want a lot of aggrivation. This set requires Acrobatics.

For all the whacking they did to this set you'd think they could throw the Fire Tanks a bone and integrate KB protection into one of the primary shields.

I agree with Thundar, I think they owe the fire tank an apology, in the form of built in KB protection. However, acrobatics works just fine for it.

As for secondary, mine is EM and he CAN one shot LT's. I do it all the time. I geared him kind of towards a scranker build, but he's still as tough as he use to be and kills faster than any of my scrappers. He is a bit light on AOE's but his one on one damage is unrivaled. There's just too few baddies that have defense against energy. If you have anything on guardian I can give you a demo.

They just threw Fire/ a MAJOR bone. They boosted the base heal values and lowered the recharge on Healing Flames, making it the best non-HP boosting self heal power in the game. This is a very significant change, especially for PvP purposes, where self heals are godly.

While they still can't lessen incoming damage as well as other tanks can, Fire tanks can now play like tougher regen scraps. They can take less damage from their toggles, dish out some fair damage on their own, and pop their heal multiple times per encounter, as opposed to once or twice per mob. Add Hasten to the mix and they get pretty darn tough.

Only thing they could really use a fix on now would be Consume. Compared to Energy Absorbtion (Ice/), Power Sink (/Elec), and Energy Drain (/Energy), it's extremely lacking. All of the other powers are on a 60 second base timer and Auto-Hit, and do no damage (Energy Absorbtion has a nice defense buff per foe hit). Consume has a 180 second (3 minutes) base timer, is not auto hit, recovers less end per foe, all in exchange for a pitance of damage. Granted, is has a larger Area of Effect than the others, but other than an occasional boost, it isn't very reliable, nor is it as handy later in a fight, when more of the enemies have been beaten, as that leaves less targets to hit, and even then, it has to hit them for its lessened effect.

Anywho, we all know Fire/ needs some more lovin. However, _Castle_ has stated that more datamining needs to be done before any other changes can be considered or made. Oh well!

HA! the defense+ to this is laughable!

you get +2% def for the first villain you drain, then +.5% def for every villain up to 10, which comes to +6.5% defense boost. this is having it 3 slotted with SOs too.

the best way to use that is 3 rechg/3 end mods. if they don't have endurance, they cant attack! which is better than +def IMO.

but i digress...

Two things:
1st I just tried my Fire/SS tanker (only a 3 atm) but i got healing flames at 2. Wow i can already have two on and it does the same amout of heal as a respite!

2nd When Rage crashes does it drop toggles? Or are u just unable to attack?

When rage crshes, it takes a little bit of endurance with it, you are unable to attack, and have lowered defenses. The only way it would drop toggles is if it took your last bit of endurance. And since you have fire/ , consume should help keep your endurance up enough to not have to worry about that.

@Big: I was just mentioning the defense boost as a comparison factor. Both Energy Absorbtion and Consume do more than modify endurance (not alot more, but meh), and yet Consume still performs so much worse than EA and the other end drain powers.

@Bold: I wouldn't count on Consume keeping endurance up enough to cover a crash. It's possible, but if you have previously used it to keep the fight going, then it won't be available again till after the crash has come and gone. Best means to dodge toggle drops from the crash would be to always carry 2-3 blues and pop one when the Rage icon starts blinking or fades. Gives you a good enough boost to counter the crash, and if the situation is right, you can just use Rest (since you ain't doing much anyway) and completely recover. Makes alot more sense to do that, at least to me.

Editted to add: Also, I have a macro set up to tell my team that Rage is about to crash, so that they know that I'll be useless for about 10 seconds, and can prepare for it. I'll click it as soon as the icon starts to blink. I'm debating setting up a macro to activate Rage and tell my team that I'm activating it and will have 2 minutes before it crashes. I'll probably do that soon.

One thing I noticed that might be of use to everyone is if I fire build-up, from the EM melee, it drastically increases the number of baddies I hit with consume and the amount of end I take. It makes sense, of course, but I never thought of it before. It is very useful though, and with build-up recharging much faster than consume odds are fair that it's up when consume is.
