Wow, so disappointed in Snowball Fighting. It's SO ANNOYING. Skills are unbalanced, you barely crawl when you carry a present; and when you do, the other team gangs up on you, and there's nothing that your teammates can really do, that is if they do happen to be nearby and attmepting to help. The dazed and interrupts are irritating, Ice Fort is practically useless. It's a game of pure luck when you're only chance is to be standing near where a present spawns and there's no enemies nearby.
Bring back Dragon Arena, at least that has action...

I don't think it is that bad, alot of it is getting a good team. I had a great team this morning, 20 wins in a row but I had to leave so who knows how far we would have gotten.
Bad groups consist of people:
A. Standing there leeching
B. Running around in circles wearing a witches hat
C. Ignoring presents even though it drops next to them
D. Ignoring an opponent with a present crawling past them
E. Being too pre-occupied with throwing snowballs then running presents.

Sounds like someone has had bad luck. That or you have no clue what your doing in the snowball fight........I go with my warrior, and I have a shout called "Lets Get Em!", it only lasts for 5 seconds, but makes my teammates within range move 10% faster.....I also have a skill called avalanche, which cripples who it hits....I do that on the enemy and use my shout and I can usually move fast enough where they cant get close to me.
Also, theres been many times i've killed people taking a present back, and returned that present to my own side. All it takes is a little understanding of the game, and understanding the skills.
Skills are NOT unbalanced, you just need to know when and how to use them. For instance.....if I use Avalanche, theres another skill, yellow snow, that can remove the cripple effect. Many people do not notice this and they run the full 10 seconds crippled.

I have to dissagree. Snowball fights are challenging because they require teamwork. The team I was with would stay close by each other when one had the present so if that one gets knocked down, another picks up the present and keeps going. Also, in the confusion, they still attack the other one until they notice that he doesnt hav the present anymore! Btw, if you are having trouble I suggest using a monk because its healing skill is really useful for whoever has the present.
Good Luck,
Dags
ill get around to making a new sig later

Rt's are good too. Just place Mr. Frosty near a present and the other team will rarely get it. Or place it near the other teams "base" and you can usually intercept the present and run it to your "base"
Warriors speed skill is great even if it is not you with the present. Run by a teammate and watch them take off.
Monk skill is great allows alot of space between you and your opponents. Also people tend to break off of you when you have that skill on you.
Avoid Ranger, their skill isn't the greatest and isn't very helpful.
Hope some of this helps!

I love the snowball arena. The thing is you cant walk around the arena just throwing snowballs expecting to win off killing ppl when they get the scores. The only way to score is get a present. Like everyone else said co-ordinating with your team is a huge thing in this arena which makes it different from RA or the dragon arenas where you go rampaging around killing things. This takes skill and some effort to win.
quit gw for good. end of story.

It's all about understanding the game ;)
I don't think it's unbalanced at all, it's all about how you use the skills. I think that the snow arena is really great ^^

I did it last night, and since I've never done anything remotely PVP, I had NO idea what I was doing. It took 3 times before I realized what I was supposed to be doing.
Just be patient, you'll find a decent group. Since it was new yesterday, it was attracting alot of people (like me) who didnt really understand the rules. They will. It will be awesome.

The skills are a bit unbalanced between Dwayna and Grenth IMO. Dwayna gets a slowing skill, whereas grenth just gets a skill to remove the slowness (it adds disease but that doesnt really help that much)

DON'T YOU DARE flaming on Snowball fights!!! ;)
I was very happy to hear they were opening snowball arenas again. As it's been mentioned before, it can be a fun little game once you get the grip on it. As it has also been mentioned, you need to understand that the game is not about killing and all those things you are complaining about are preciselly what makes it tricky. You can't expect a fort that makes you invincible and the interrupting is a must if you have to avoid the other team to take the presents back to their base, otherwise it would be just a "be the fastest to pick up the present" game. It's just a different kind of game. The present-carrier is vulnerable, yes, but it works both ways (for both teams) you you may have to defend him. You can't get any more ballanced than this, considering that everyone has the same health bar, armor, skill bar (with a couple of changes).
I have both win and lost with both sides, won 20 in a row and lost on the first battle. And it all depends on luck, know what you're doing, find complementary teammates... meh, it doesn't matter: Just think -if that is your case- that YOU WON'T HAVE TO GO TO WORK TOMORROW!!! ...yay... :S

I got sick of the snowball game the first day it came out. Lost 13 times in a row and then finally one then lost again. Very dissapointed with it. I think you should get gamer points for losing though. That would bring me back to it.

My gf feels the same way she would like to see 2-5 points for losing, I mean at least you are trying.
This could increase the number of leechers though!

i don't have a problem with the game itself as much as the grouping. out of the ten matches i have played there was one that had no people in my party that never entered or left before it started. this was also the only match i won.

if you could enter as a team instead of random, it would solve the leecher problem. Plus, you could get together groups of guildees/friends who would also enjoy it more when they knew they had a better chance at winning.
Regardless, it is a great game, and if you keep trying you'll get good at it.
Mesmer skill : interrupt / blind for 10 seconds -when running presents, watch the enemies. When they use Hidden Rock, hit them with this and you wont get knocked down =)
