What Do You Like Better Tanks or Sins?

What would you be, a sin or a tank.

the last thing you want is a tanking sin. unless there build is specifically made for taking punishment then the sins will die quickly or they will have to constantly be healed by monks.

I've got both, but the tank doesn't have survivor title and the sin does. o.0

But it depends on the situation, if I want to be fast'n'killy I'll go as a sin, if I want to survive, i'll take either a shadow-former sin or a tank.

Its ok there are a lot that don't accept certain classes playing certain builds. Kind of like I play a Minion Master (not Minion Bomber) with my Rit/N instead of the normal N/Mo. Of course I mainly play with henchies but when I do play with others they may complain at first then notice I'm out doing the N/Mo that is also in the group.

I personally like Warriors but I haven't messed much with my Assassin much.

I'm neither here nor there but everywhere. I am who I am and nothing more but yet I'm nothing less than what I strive to be.

- A sin if I'm in the mood for a challenge and/or feel patient enough to wait for hours to get in a team (although I must say I deleted mine to get space for another char)

- A tank when... well... when I feel like tanking :P (though I admit I do normally use mine only for farming, so I can't really say I have really explore all of her possibilities)

Personally, I find sins more fun to play with but much tougher. Since the very begining of GW, warriors have been such a popular class that I can't help getting bored when playing mine.

Now, when it comes to teammates profession, seems like tanks is a must while assassins haven't reached that point where you feel like having one is needed. The only hope is that, with time, while GW is acquiring more and more classess, older classes such as assassins get reduced to the players that found the most efficient ways to play it. Maybe then these players can show us the efficiency of being an assassin and the crucial advantage of having one in our teams. Just something similar to what happened with mesmers (although it doesn't seem to have happened to assassins yet...).

Warriors are kind of stuck in their tanking role. With low energy, low regen, and high armor. They are doomed to stay in the front lines.

Assassin's on the other hand have attributes that don't have to do with melee attacks! Shadow Arts, Critical Strike, and Deadly Arts provide tons of versatility over Axe/Hammer/Sword Mastery! Assassin's Skills are so underestimated!

With that being said, every class has its own place in its respective group. Warriors 1-2 per group, sins 1-2 per group (depending on sin setup, you don't want 2 shock sins in one group >.<)

It all depends on circumstances. In PvE, you usually want a tank of some sort, but sometimes an Earth-based ele is a better tank than a warrior, or a MM necro's minions more useful than one single tank.

The perfect PvE group mix is basically 1/4 tanks, 1/4 damage dealers, 1/4 support (healers especially), and 1/4 other. Warriors are pretty much THE tankers of GW; this makes them included in most every group. Assassins, though, take a damage dealer roles, but Elementalists, Necromancers, and to a lesser extent Rangers can also fill those roles in somewhat different fasions. So, while a warrior will be included in most groups, Assassins can be replaced.

I'd have to say that I'd rather have a good tank than a good assassin, but I'd rather have a bad assassin than a bad tank. A good tank takes and holds aggro through everything, while a bad tank just sort of sits there and gets ignored. A good assassin is tremendously damaging while also being durable, while a bad assassin is somewhat damaging but fragile. In other words, any assassin can sort of do the assassin's job, while only good tanks can do the tank's job.

So true. I buffed my AL so far up with my geo ele, Summit Giant Herders(the ones in the Southern Shiverpeaks), were doing 4-6 dmg with default attacks. Also works great in PvP, I tied up 1 Seige Turtle, 4 Luxon Guards, and half of the enemy team for 5+ minutes while they tried to kill me. I didn't just absorb damage though, I took half of them with me. Fun times, fun times....

Back on topic, I'll take a Sin, they are more interesting to me, actually, damage dealing in general is more interesting to me than tanking(unless the tanking is with said geo ele).

hmmm personally I like to play on my sin more than my tank b/c my sin can stab and chop stuff up faster and they are kind of part caster/part fighter and the spike damage from the combos are sweet. =)

well I started to make an answer to the topic but it was turning sour so I decided not to post it.

I prefer tank myself, cause all know what a tank can or can't do. Most sin I have seen, seems to be too dependent on shadow form to withstand dmg, thus when shadow form comes out, pouff so does there life,

many a time in AB my on mesmer facing warrior and assassin I had a blast, at begining I had 1 on me and in the end (after I killed them a few time) I had 3-4 on me, oh the fun time.

so question is, what do you prefer, cause in the end you will be the one playing the character and making the build work the way YOU want. Just stick to your guns and you'll see people will get to respect you in whatever profession you choose,

Which do you like better warriors or assasin?
Personally i prefer warriors when it coems to fighting many foes in pve but in pvp and fighting big bosses assasins are the way to go.

With the right build I would take a Sin over a Tank. The only thing is I normally would like a GOOD Sin and a Tank in a group because Sins can finish off a foe pretty quick but they need to go in after the tank has got aggro. As long as the Sin can do his quick attack strike then teleport out I'm fine with Sins.

And if anybody disagrees may Dwayna Smite me!

please do not get me wrong this is not flamming frenzy

but

as in all class one who does not look when an enchentement is about to run out will pay dearly for it, and a sin if shadow form runs out is more likelly to be dead way faster then a tank ( I have seen it with my own eyes ) so if you are looking for a tanking built, and you are not that familiar with assassin, then IMHO I recomend tanking with a warrior prior to trying tanking with a sin, why you ask because you will see what you need to counter and make a built with that in mind

and as to the above quote, you can most defenatly tank better then me because for one I dont have shadow form, I only have my stance, armor, and self heal... then again I play a warrior that likes to get in trouble, so there :)

L ike Sins if the have a monk as a secendary they dish out alot of dmg fast too and can get healed by healing breeeze skill if ur healing prayers are good

sins are great but by most people's mistakes they are mostly a nuisence. Try a war you will excepted into most groups instantly and they have more use's

IMO the question doesnt make sense since a "tank" is not a profession but a build... this build can be use by various professions using specific skills.

ie: DoA
w/e geotank
mo/x invincimonk
e/me another geotank
a/me infinite shadow form tank

a tank is a must for every teambuild here (except trapper build) because they shud be corner blocking and tanking mobs so that backliners can nuke them...

u cant compare tanks with an assassin because u cant compare two different things... but if you want to know if a warrior can tank better than an assassin , this question wud be legitimate because u compare a profession with another...

if thats the case then i wud say that the warrior can tank better than an assassin due to its high base armor + shield

an infinite shadow form assassin sound to be invincible but this type of assassin depends on another player with "shadow form" so the assassin can do an infinite cycle of shadow form... nevertheless, this limits the other player's capability to nuke/heal because 1 slot would be wasted for shadow form... which is an elite skill!!!

whereas a warrior tank doesnt need a second person (except for BiP or bonder but who deosnt need'em?) so the other players can do their full potential...

sry to say but 100% is not really true
no direct attacks hit u ie:
- ss casted on ally near u who ist attacking gives u dmg
- meteor shower on ally near you
- bed of coals
- chiblains
- eoe if ur under 90%
- conditions

with my geo tank i walked into the enemys base during a gvg, all 8 enemys + npcs were attacking, in 5 mins the gl was dead without my health dropping down 50%
