All round 'hybrid' Stalker

Heys, im getting kinda bored of brute, and im thinking of making a Stalker. Im very much used to versatile fighting, as in, both ranged and melee, stealth and herding etc.
So im asking, a decent defensive powerset (i loathe dieing. I really do.), and a ''easy'' offensive set. Mind you, im not very fond of MA's huge end cost >.<

Any suggestions and help appreciated :D

Well, all I know is that Claws has a few ranged attacks later in the game.

Claws will give you range with nice damage mitigation (you hate dieing, that'll help) but it's damage output beyond AS is kinda low. Spine's will also give you Range, with much better damage, at the cost of less mitigation and longer animations.

As far as Defensive sets, SR has the best outright defense, while Ninjutsu has good defense, a self heal which is handy, and a couple nice tricks to lessen incoming damage or speed up your getaway.

Claws/Nin would be my suggestion if you want to stand and scrap a bit. Spine/SR if you want to hit and run.

W.P.

RE: All round 'hybrid' Stalker

The stalker is really more of a 'hit-&-run' type character, especially in the early levels. If you do plan on doing some scrapping after your Assassin's Strike, you'll want Stamina, and you'll want to shore up your defenses because your hp's are a bit on the low side. If you play 'hit-&-run' endurance will likely not be a problem.

Stealthing is a natural for a stalker, since 'Hide' is a signature power. I found myself stealthing through a lot of missions and it's a pretty fast way to level up. You mentioned 'herding' which you won't be doing much of as a stalker! Multiple aggroed mobs usually means dead stalker!

In terms of powersets, my first stalker (now level 50) is a MA/Regen. I like the sets quite a bit. My playstyle is somewhat scrapper-like because I don't have the patience for 'hit-&-run', and I don't really have many problems. I'm sure there are others with experience in the other powersets that can throw their 2-cents in...

Ninja Blade, though it does Lethal damage, it has a decent 'parry' power, which gives you great resistance to meleee for a few seconds and deflects melee attacks. Ninjitsu, Regen, Super Reflexes, Energy Aura and Dark Armor are all good, though I haven't been able to find a use for Energy Aura. But anyways, I'm kinda mildly obsessed with Ninja Blade, so pay me no attention ;D

I've a minor obsession with Stalkers. Maybe not minor.

I have a lvl 34 claw/ninja stalker, and i love him. I'm no brute, but I can stand toe to toe with a mob pretty well for a stalker. With claws you even have a couple of knock back attacks. You get hit a lot less when the other guy spends all his time getting back up.

Well, even though I'm new here, I've tried almost every stalker, just for fun. So, in my expirence, pardon misspellings, Ninja blades, well, rock. And, dying, does not. So, my personal favorite, is thus: Ninja Blade/Regeneration. It offers no Defense, but, healing almost instantly makes up for that. Plus, you get a self-rez, and that's not even tier-nine. So, pick what you will, i just had to throw in my two infamy.

Best of luck.

Lol, it's fine, I use too many commas too ^_^. But yes, Ninja Blade/anything is cool. As soon as the %#*$%@ Hard drive on my good computer is back up, I'm starting a Blade/Dark Stalker to Replace my Dark/Dark.

P.S. Well, only five commas. Or, six, *seven, *EIGHT now.

This is kinda getting off topic...

RE: All round 'hybrid' Stalker

no one mentioned EM/Regen? Im ashamed of you all..

Energy Melee is one of the best primarys....highest damage output, and every single attack has a chance to disorient.

Total Focus can critical when hidden and 95% of the time disorients, even elite boss's.

Energy Transfer is one of the fastest and heaviest attacks you get (in exchange for some hp but if your a regen that doesn't make any difference)

my only warning to you if you pick this build....do not take MOG!

you will find yourself killing yourself after using energy transfer 2 times....which just so happens to be one of your primary attacks...

RE: All round 'hybrid' Stalker

My last Stalker was a lvl 22 claws/regen. Regen is nice for missions because your not taking huge hits. In PVP regen is bad. Two or three big hits and your dead. Regen does not heal you fast enough to keep you live. I even had heath and stamina from the fitness pool. I deleted him! My new Stalker is a lvl 20 claws/reflexes. I have gotten health and stamina again and don’t die often. I have gone to Bloody Bay and beat every hero but one, a lvl 24 Tanker, we called it a draw. I’m still using Training Origin Enhancements till lvl 22. I think my rating is 3.1. I like claws, they recharge fast, little end is used and they do fair damage and seem very accurate for me. Super Reflexes is nice, I dodge a lot of hits and can stand in front of a minion till my hide kicks in and AS him.

Ninja Blade/Regeneration or Energy Melee/Ninjitsu are best, imo.
