All right, i was on my WoW private server and well, i was talking with this guy named Chickenbutt and he was talking about how arena net exposed somthing in data that led to ppl currently working on private servers?!?!?!? idk how but he says there are ppl making them rite now at this moment and well wierd eh?
Idk if its true but culd u imagine private servers with 10x drops or like 50x exp and like 9000 billion def. armor.
W/e it is, i will find out how they will since most of em that try atm are on my xfire friends lis etc. but either ways HAPPY NEW YRS EVE

Even if it is Private servers, it wouldn't work with any of the ANet servers, I would think.

I don't think it's possible ;-)
and by all means.. I would lock or remove any posts with links to them..
And possibly ban the author of the post ;-)
Because such a server would be against almost every topic in the EULA =)
So beware ;-)
This is a fansite for the original game..
Not for privat servers ;-)

They can try and make a prvate server but considering your account is housed on the ANet servers and the only real data on your computer is base data (Not Account related) would it really matter if someone made a private server. Nothing you earned would ever be on your account after a restart. The people building the server would have to correlate your user account with an encrypted data base of millions of users and pull that data out and then somehow after logging out of the private server have to inject said players ill-gotten gains into the ANet server. I am pretty sure they monitor all activity into their system. I think someone was blowing smoke. Not saying it is impossible, just unlikely.

Well I know of private servers being made for P2P games to get out of having to pay but they are very limited to the amount of content they have. But I see no reason to do such a thing to GW for its free to play and if you wish to be on your own in the game you just fill up with henchies and heroes and all is well. I just don't see any real advantage to it. Plus GW is great like it is why change it.

No im not saying I HAVE ONE im saying ppl i know are trying to make one, see they said if u register on there site it goes directly to there server wich lets u log in but apparently yah, they said they all rdy have the characters and maps done apparently, and i know 3 ppl r on Gameamp forums here and trust me i play the original gw cause tribina hasnt gaven me my lillipop yet cause hes mean *stomps tribs foot*

Last night i finnally got to meet "gaile gray" and i seem to remember her saying something about this and that there would never be privet servers and that anet or ncsoft would not allow them to be. GW belongs to anet and they will likely never open it up for privet servers. think about it now ppl GW is their bread and butter.

Yeah the private servers are illegal and GW can not be created into a or have a private server due to the daily updates which Jeff Strain says on a podcast with Gaming Steve a long time back.

uhhh they don't need the Anet server to beable to make a private server.... and why would they want all the characters from the GW using Anet that you have??? They'll make it so you make new characters.... all they need is the code for the game and they can set up servers and do their own updates its not that hard.... only time it gets hard is when your server at home can't handle alot of peeps..... I help in the building of the Ultima Online freeshard Hybrid.... which runs off a free server base called Run UO all you need is the Run UO software and your home free and can make any freeshard you want....

There are private servers, most rural areas of europe are on them, if you go there you will see guildwars being sold for 5 bucks, and they are all private servers. You can't interact with people on official servers from them though, so they are pretty pointless.
