Ok, this thought just came to me. some of you will think it's rather stupid, but hopefully you will think it's hilarious and embrace it.
How about PlayDoh Pets?
Your MM shapes the animals out of huges wads of Doh and controls them with its mind. and upgrades can allow the pets to me made out of harder material or possibly the MM to make better PlayDoh weapons.
Now this could also work for balloon animals, legos, lincoln logs, or erector sets.

Oh great! This is something that'll get Sapir up in a fuss about, the Lego/DM MM set or even the Lego/Trap set. I can see it now, people walking around trying to trade lego pieces to build better henchmen. Oh the horrors! LOL

HA! here ya go guys this solves it all
Playdoh pets powerset
Summon blob-we all made them just a blob of playdoh with eyes..
Summon snake-second easiest playdoh monster to make just roll it between your hands and there ya go
Summon Head-yeah it's one of those heads that you make the hairs come out of.. not very powerful but who would want to attack a giant head with playdoh heair coming out
also would suggest the animal powerset like you get to summon animals that would be kinda cool

yer, but normal Freedom Phalanxes would be impossible, I mean, you are controlling Statesman while some pesky heroes are doing his task force!!
Zombie versions sound cool though :)

Although I know it would never happen, i love the way the Wailers look, a power set based around that would be amazing in my opinion. I dont know, ive been getting bored lately and drawing sketches of what i think would be good sets for MMs

Smurfs Haha someone said smurfs now that would be awesome. another good one could be food pets. Like the doe boy and the glove from Hamburger Helper and the other glove from Arby's lol.
On a serious note I agree with the animals buy with some myth to them. Almost like a wizard like first summon could be dwarfs, second could be trolls, and the last could be a dragon. That would be so cool.

Ya overpowered, but non responsive and full of bugs. Plus, they would be more likely to help the heroes they are supposed to be fighting than the MM's.

I have a question. I have a Dark/Zombie MM and i wanted to know....Is it necessary to cast ENCHANT UNDEAD if you are casting DARK EMPOWERMENT?? Any feedback would heath greatly..

Yes because they both increase your henchman's abilities in different ways. If you don't use both then your henchmen will not be as affective.
