Just wondering----
Why do people seem to start a thread whenever they decide to quit the game? A good portion of these threads seem to be apologies for leaving.
Maybe we should just have an open "Time to leave thread" and be done with it?
I don't mean to seem mean, but I find it curious. And I would kind of like to know why. Afterall, most of us play multiple games. I play DOAC (no groans please) & CoH. Occasionally I play Puzzle Pirates. And I play at least 3 RL games (right now ShadowRun, World of Darkness-Mage & DnD). So , like I said, just curious.

I think its because, at least here on GameAmp, a lot of people become recognizable by their avatar, or name, or post style (I recognized Sapir on the official boards just by his use of colors ;D) and, as a result, there get to be certain people that you expect to see semi-regularily.
So, when someone leaves, im betting its to tell everyone why they wont be seen around for a while. just my 2 cents.
Clicky.

I know ive been thinking as of late that its a trend to make a "o my god im leaving the game!" thread. Although, as I'm a UK player i do really see the unnecessary side of these posts on a wider scale, i do see the need of saying ciao to the people you've spent a large part of your last year/life with.
Keep it up guys, its better to go out with salutations than to fade away!
Oh, Hello Mr. Jurassik! Sorry about that arrow, it wasnt aimed at you. I'll just be on my way now... *flees*

There are times when I haven't seen any posts from someone for a while or haven't seen them in game and wonder where they are.
Mine was just a heads up to say that I would be out of the game until something could be worked out. I enjoy teaming with many of the people on this site, and I just wanted to let them know that it might be a little while before I can team with them again.
I didn't want them to wonder where I was or think I don't enjoy playing anymore. On the contrary, this game is very enjoyable and one of the few extra things I do right now. I really enjoy the interaction within the game with everyone.
I see it as more of a heads up rather then a "Oh no" thread. Although it is sad to see someone you have played with quite a bit stop playing, it is nice to be aware that it happened.

I think this forum is like a group of friends. And we are all sitting around a big table. If we could actually see each other you wouldn't sneak off. You would say goodbye. To me it feels like the people that are posting a farewell note do this because they feel they are leaving a group of friends. I think it is great. Apparently we do mean something to them.
