So one thing I have yet to do in all the time I have played CoX is doing most of the TF. I have done the Croatoa one.(My god was that long and annoying. If she would just die already LOL). and I usually never find people doing them. Are they popular on other servers? Am I living in a cave and not seeing the people asking for players to do them? Will we ever find out why you can park in a driveway but drive in a parkway? These questions have vexed me for some time now. Thoughts please my peeps...=)

Those kinda come and go in phases. They are great leveling events if you are in their range. Because the standard ones take between 2-3hrs, it's hard to find groups commited to sticking through them.
You cannot add team members once you start it. So you really need most or all of the team to hang through the whole thing.
The ones in Firebase Zulu are incredibly long.
The main problem with running a TF and not finishing it is getting everyone on again together. With PUG's this is almost impossible.
I like them. Especially the Hess TF. If you get a chance to run that one it's got a great concept and mission maps. Check out the Task Force links on the left side of this page in the section marked Game Info. You'll see that they generally run along a theme.

I know that there are some here who have run them all solo... but I was wondering about which ones would be the best to start trying to run solo with a scrapper? I would assume you would need someone with high damage output to pull this off.

They can be solo'd. You will still need the minimum number of participants to start them though.
Scrappers have the best chance of this effort. A wiley Blaster might be able to do it with enough inspirations in tow, but not all of them. An advanced Troller with pets at the level of the TF might also be able to do this. A setting of heroic is pretty much a requirement if you wanted to try.
There is a "feature" to Task Forces that we have used for a long time. If only one person is online, the mission spawns are tailored for one person. We used to exploit this before a few patches that made the missions re-check team size when you changed floors in the elevator. Now not so much. But if you genuinely kept it to one person some of them are do-able. Just not easy...... But that's what makes it fun, right!?

exactly, that and I play at different times then most and I don't always have enough time to finish in one sitting. I figured that would be the best way, so I could work at my pace and time.

Solo-able TF's include:
Positron
Quarterfield
the Respec trials (24, 34, 44)
Everything else would be harder to solo. The ones mentioned above do not contain an AV at the end. I don't think Q has any sort of ending (it just goes on.. and on...and on.. and on..), while Posi has an EB. With the dawning of Shivys (hurray Bloody Bay), more are possible of being soloed. I know there's a tank that posts on the main boards of his adventures in soloing supposedly un-solo-able things, with the help of a shivy. Not sure what kind of tank he is, but i know he's solo'd Adamastor with a shivy.
Also, one of the more famous scrappers, Catwoorg (probably sp) is a spines/regen i think, and he's supposedly nearly soloed everything in the game (pre and post ED).

Yeah but you still have to get so many people to join you first to start the TF correct?

correct. got to get the minimum number of people on the team before you can start. Once you start, then people can start dropping (quitting the team)
However, there has been a wrinkle in that, i understand: if many people quit the team, it may disband the TF before there's only 1 person left on the team.
The work-around is that you have 2 people left on the team, then have 1 of them just log off. The TF will still believe they're on the team (just logged off), so the TF should continue on, and you're solo, allowing you to continue.

If you play on Champion, the Hamidon Channel is a good channel to solicit interest in taskforces. The channel is used by a good number of people that have participated in a hami raid--many of which also have a main and plenty of alts that seek out taskforces to game and badge hunt.
I've tried other channels here and there, but this particular on seems to work the best.
Infernal Storm fire/energy/fire blaster
Cosmo Crush energy/energy/force blaster
and many more...
