| On-the-Spot 1v1 Tournament mirc bot |
|
|
|
Recently, I've been doing 1v1 and an idea popped into my head. How about making a bot, similar to pugbot, that would organize 8 players into a 1v1 eleimination tourney?
I've started to learn Mirc scripting for this (already have exp. w/C++, shoudln't take long). Is it possible for me to see open source for the existing pugbots so I could have ground from which to start?
And is there anyone with experience in writing such bots that can lend a helping hand when I need?
Also, what would you like to see in such a bot?
I'm thinking having four 1v1 servers with IRC reporters used for the bot, preferabley spread out over NA so we have east, central, west servers.
The whole system will work by the loser reporting the loss, which will have to be done at most after 25 minutes after the bot has designated the servers and games to be played. That said, there will be 25 minute rounds(10 mins to setup/warmup/rest/piss, 15 mins to play)
After that, other participants, if they want the tourney to go on, have to confirm the win for the winning side (by looking at the score from the irc reporter). If this doesn't happen in 5 mins, tourney is reset.
What do you think?

I think I remember using a few of those back in UT99 a couple times.
The problem with a fully automated system is, it gets easily confused, and it's much harder to do on-the-spot tweaks and rearrangements than if it's just a guy with a pen and paper.

From the #|WM| channel:
Scrimbot Status: Offline due to server issue
so that's about all I know.
