I am trying to cap SS during the water pump mission. I got spiked to hell when i hero/henched it. Then i found another person trying to cap it and we killed the drought and tried to cap SS and it went to cut scene.
Is it possible to cap it during the mission? the other guy said that it is possible, but i don't know how. it shows on wiki.

I'm guessing this is Sand Storm not Spiteful Spirit?
I think you need to kill the Boss asap and leave the rest thus giving you time to cap the skill.

Yea, just kill the boss first. :) Then Cap while the team/henchies are taking out the small guys. :)

thats wierd because when i tried that there were still alot of droughtlings left when it went to cut scene. we used the pumps to make it easier.

I tried as well... I don't think you can cap it, because as soon as The Drought is dead, the Cut Scene comes in and the mission is over... I changed my secondary for no reason at all :D!

2 things, you gotta not touch any of the pumps, and you must kill the boss and leave the underlings completely intact...
AND... i seem to remember one of the updates a month ago, something about nerfing this trick... you may want to read the past update lists to see if its still possible

There is an easier boss to kill, for capping Sandstorm, later on in the game.

Im not sure if its still possible (took me 2 tries, not sure what I did different the 2nd time around) but I capped SS off the drought in that mission, just start spamming your cap sig skill as he is about to die and try to be fast to select Sandstorm from the list (it also helps to have GW running at max resolution so you dont have to scroll down to find the skill).

I capped it there a couple weeks ago. What triggers the cutscene is the Drought's group, not the Drought itself. It has 2 Droughtlings that are in the same mob as it is, so as long as those 2 are alive the cutscene won't begin.
Basically, what you want to do is just focus all of your fire on the Drought right off the bat and kill it, then cap it before the 2 Droughtlings perish. This can be tricky if you're with heroes and henchmen since they tend to not follow called targets, but should be possible.

Well, I happen to be the person who wrote on Gwiki that it's possible to cap Sandstorm, because that's what I did. However, it was in early December and I haven't checked whether it's still possible. In any case, I think that only the two droughtlings in the same mob as the Drought itself count. Never touched the pumps either, the mission is trivially easy. Take some henches and heroes. Equip one of them with Winter and activate it manually. Make heroes secondary mesmers with Mantra of Frost if you want. Make Master of Whispers a N/Me and load him with 7 interrupts and a rez (e.g., Power Block, Cry of Frustration, Power Leak, Leech Signet, Power Drain, Web of Disruption, Signet of Disruption, Rez Signet). Poor casters never get a single spell off ...

It's still possible to cap Sandstorm from the Drought as I did this week. Just make sure to not kill the 2 droughtlings next to him.

yes that is right. i just capped it on my ele yesterday. Just kill him and not the two guys around him. There are also three groups around him that it doesn't matter if they are dead or not. Just dont think you can keep them alive to stop the cuts scene. it has to be the 2 guys RIGHT beside him.
Also you can get all the water pumps if you want. i did to make it easier.

thanks for all the help + cred...
i targeted the drought first and called but had 3 sf eles so aoe might have killed them at the same time as i killed the drought.
did yall not use aoe spells?
