Last night I was finally able to get 2 teams going to take on Lusca in IP. Now since the new issue, forget which one, you pretty much have to have more then one team to defeat this thing. Well, on the team I was on there was a rad controller, a emapth defender, one stone tanker then the rest where damage dealers being either scrapper, blaster, or Peace Bringer. I am not sure what was on the other team but we did have one level 50 scrapper and the rest of us were in the high 30's.
Anyway, after defeating Lusca I waited patiently but NO FREAKING BADGE! I was like WTF? So I sent in a petition and got a e-mail answer back this morning and to my disbelief the answer was basically tough cookie.
After explaining the how's, and the rules, and etc's the basic jest of it is that the team that does the most damage get's the badge and the rest are SOL.
So my question is, "Are they serious?" Has anyone else experienced this? If so this is the end of my General Monster fighting days.

Well, i don't know if they changed it recently, but that is not the way Lusca should award her badge.
If i remember correctly, the rule for Giant Monsters is that your team has to deal 10% of the TOTAL damage dealt to the GM over the course of it's lifespan. If, for example, the Ghost of Scrapyard (CoV GM in Sharkhead Island) is dealt 10000 points of damage over it's lifespan before it is killed, your team had to have dealt 1000 to get the badge. Lusca and Paladin are the exception to this rule.
I'm pretty sure that both Lusca and Paladin are one-hit badgers. Get a few hits on them, and when they go down, everybody in a certain range gets the badge. I know for a fact that i took my WS in when lusca was down to only its head some time back, dealt a little damage, wasn't on any team, and still got the badge.
I believe you need to respond to this and see if Lusca is working properly; they may have changed something, but if they did, they would have told us. You should have the Devilfish badge now.

This is the petition I sent them.
\"Was just on one of two teams that fought Lusca. We did at least half the damage if not more and none on the team got the badge for it.\"
Below is the e-mail that they sent me.
Thank you for contacting PlayNC Support Team.
We appreciate your reporting this issue for our review. When fighting villains that grant special rewards (i.e. Death Surge, Adamastor, Kraken, etc) there are certain requirements which must be met. If these are not met you will not receive the reward.
- When fighting these villains you must be within a close proximity receive your reward. This pertains to both teamed and solo players.
- You or your team must do the majority of damage to these monsters, and be present for the entire fight in order to earn the reward.
- When defeating this monster you would have to have done at least 10% of the damage to it to receive an award. This would mean 10% of total damage done to the monster, not its total hit points. This includes any damage done by opposing NPC mobs that the Giant Monster may have been attacked by before you defeated it.
- If a giant monster has self healing powers, or it travels with other mobs that heal it, that can keep increasing the total damage to kill it, and requiring more and more damage for you to hit 10%.
For example, let’s consider if a giant monster had 100 hit points. A team attacks it, does 40 points of damage, then the team is defeated and goes to the hospital. They decide to give up, and the giant monster heals. At that point, the next team would need to do at least 10% of 140 to get the badge. As the monster would be healing during the time between each group attacking it, groups will need to do more damage to hit the 10%.
Another possibility is that a team had enough support classes to keep themselves alive indefinitely, but did not have enough damage-per-second to defeat the giant monster. They could do damage to it for a long time, doing a large amount of damage over time, but not enough to defeat it before it heals. If they give up, another group could come by, defeat it quickly, and not get the badge, since their quick defeat was not 10% of the total damage, due to the large amount previously done by the first group.
The special reward delivery system is currently working correctly and as designed. The Support Team will not be able to interfere with the design and functionality of the game and grant the reward to the character.
If you have any other questions please feel free to contact us.
Regards,
GM
And I know that I hit Lusca. I am a spines/regen scrapper and saw my spines sticking in more then once.

Looks like the generic response.. the second rule and third are in conflict, they definitely need to change that. "deal the majority of damage" "deal 10% of total damage"...

well, this is the only way that you may not have gotten the badge. And with Lusca, this is unfortunately probably the easiest one to get screwed over thanks to this little bit. Couple of teams went at him, got knocked out without taking down one leg.
when you guys started attacking lusca, did he have all 8 of his legs? if he did, then i guess i'd bring it up with the GMs again... if he didn't, then that is what must have happened. the earlier teams took down a few legs, but got killed and gave up, you came along and took him down the rest of the way, but for some reason, all the damage you dealt to him to kill him (your team) didn't ammount to 10%.

Happened to me. Seems like this issue goes back to I6 or I7. Simple solution (as much a hassle as it seems): Redo Lusca, go back and kick squiddy rear. It was during the second time I teamed and fought Lusca that I got the Devilfish badge.

Yeah, this does happen from time to time. Whatever you do, don't let one bad experience sour your taste for monster killing. Remember that first and foremost, you are supposed to have fun in this game... and it IS fun to kick Lusca's behind!

I've had that happen more than a few times fighting various GMs. Often, I was there for the full fight and kicking it's butt along with everyone else and no badge. Don't let it get you down. Fighting the GMs is a great break from running missions all the time. It's kind of fun to take them down even when you get loads of debt in the process.
Luska has seemed rather buggy of late or at least since I7, but it's still fun seeing mobs of heroes pounding it into sushi.

Lusca is one of the oddest Giant Monsters in CoX. It's 9 monsters, but counted as one right? SO you have to be there from the very beginning to even be counted for the badge. But if one team does a majority of the damg to one of the tentcles and defeats it, that's about 10% right there.
But that's not the case here. I teamed with a group on this GM beatdown with my WS Nova Knight Dusk, and we did about half the damg to all the tentcles.( there was one other team there and they had pretty much the same set up) I even got the last hit on one, pretty much securing the badge for our group. We did everything by the book, and after Luscas defeat, we all celebrated and we're sticking to gether to maybe hunt. Our leader though complained that she didn't get the badge. We all looked at her info and sure enough there was no badge. The rest of us got the badge, but for some reason she didn't.
If you were the team leader on this one, I think we may have a pattern spotted, and should send something.
