Here is what (In MY opinion) would be a good update for Jan 20th.
New Skins have been added to more closely reflect the rarity of the item. Older skins have been rearranged to fit this format.
Old Skin changes include:
-Crystallines now drop everywhere, at a MUCH more frequent rate.
-Depth has been added to the Exalted Aegis. Instead of being paper-thin, it now has a thicker hide.
-A weapon's skin reflects the color it has. Example: A blue Long Sword will be rusty and missing part of it's hilt. A gold Long Sword will be clean and fully assembled. Collector items also reflect this, as no sane person would give you a perfect weapon for a few scale drops.
-Greens have been changed to this same format, as it's a used weapon. Greens from the first 50% of the game are considered to have blue skins. Greens from the last 50% of the game are considered purple.
The number of available slots for heroes have been reduced to 1. A full party needs to have at least 4 real players or henchies.
GvG has been changed to 12v12.
Domain of Anguish party size has been increased to 12.
Additional mobs are added to Domain of Anguish to prevent chest running.
An Auction House has been added. Players can head to their Guild Halls and talk to an NPC (Xunlai Auction Agent) who will take their items and put it on the market. This Auction House is viewable worldwide, making it much easier and faster to buy/sell items. You can only put in a max of 5 items, and each item costs 100g per day, with an initial 1000g cost.
Chests now can drop Rare Materials and Common Materials, but will do so rarely. Chests can now be empty upon opening, but you gain back your key.
Items dropped will go into your inventory immediately, provided you have enough space. If you do not have enough space in your inventory, it will drop as it used to be, reserved for the player. Item drop notification will still occur, so other players can see what dropped.
Storage at the Xunlai Agent has been increased to 50 slots. Materials storage stays the same. Also added is an NPC in your Guild Hall who will store up to 10 sets of armor.
Added an NPC at your Guild Hall who will change your hairstyle for a fee of 5k or 3000 Balthazar Points.
Changed the reward system of quests back to the way it was in Prophecies. Now you can gain skills through completion of quests. Monetary rewards are not available through questing anymore.

I think the opened chests idea would be dumb.

Holy Wow!
If only is all I have to say. I don't see it happening though. I'd like to see almost every item on that list. I'm not so sure about the weapons reflecting their color, I happen to really like my collectors weapons, it's how I can afford 15k armor. I also really like my heroes, though I'm willing to admit they have changed a lot and make people play alone a lot more. Everything else though, as far as I remember, looks awesome. But isn't the next update supposed to be changes to Hero's Ascent? I didn't see a thing in there about that.

love the ideas. but a fee for the auction house? cmon.
what if im selling crafting matls worth 5k. 1k+100(days)= at least 20% of my profit gone. i dont think that Anet would add a fee anyhow, as it would unbalance the auction house against newbies who dont have the extra 1k to spend, not even knowing if their item will sell. if they do put a cost, it would probably be like 25 g start, 5 g a day from then on.
and by the chests, do u mean that u will keep one key all the time, and not lose it, but sometimes the chests will be empty? that sounds cool.
or like in the old days, when chests didnt use keys lol.

wow a lot of these ideas sound very original
i like how blues weapons wouldn't be in great shape
i don't know about chests having materials inside, unless it was a rare material worth the price of the key
and the henchmen/hero thing i definitely agree
too many people henching things
lets hope ANet takes some hints from you :D

I would like to see alot of the things there except the whole color reflecting quality thing. I like collector items since u can get good cheap 15^50 stuff for anyone. also 12v12 GvG would be chaos. To do that the halls would have to be huge since 8v8 is perfect. with 12v12 that's like adding another team(4 extra ppl to each side).

I'd like to see:
Bring back 8v8.
Nerf Searing Flames.
Make 'Golden Skull Strike' better.
I'm also tiring of euroway- me thinks SP[e], or SP is gonna get nerfed.
Kill Sacred Temple's!
Create a 3-way brawl instead!^^
Get rid of greens.

Actually, if you get an item from the chest, you lose a key. If the chest is empty, you get the key back.

I guess I've been out of the loop. Is there a planned update coming out on the 20th? I'm sure we don't know what would be in it, hence this thread, but I hadn't heard of any upcoming updates (haven't been paying attention much lately though).

I don't care about you farmers who'll complain "fomg now I can't solo shiz SoA was nerfed" When you have a 4 man team in PvP that can't get a monk past half health because of SoA you have a problem. It is WAY too powerful. This is comming from someone who monks often.
Either just completely get rid of EoE and make a new skill or un-nerf it. It's taking up space in my Rangers skill menu. There are better ways to solve problems than making a skill completely useless.
Make the element system worth using. At the moment there really isn't a reason to choose a different element over another other than considering how you want to deal damage to the enemy or inflicting conditions. I'd like to see how it works; seeing as fire works well against ice monsters.. and water works well against fire monsters.... it makes 0 sense.
Don't believe me? Use fire magic against Ice golems who use water magic and water magic against Burning titans.
I'd like elemental resistances and weaknesses valuable in PvP; If you read the manuel for prophecies it tells you which god goes with which element. I'd like to see an elemental risistance/weakness wheel when it comes to PvP and PvE. Making elemental damage more useful.
I'd like to see on this wheel where shadow damage and holy damage fall into play.
More PvP gametypes in RA; Capture the flag, King of the hill, an item game where who ever holds the item for the largest amount of time wins.
Right now the standard "FOMG LETS KILL EVERYTHING" gets boring a little bit. Obolisks are 90% of the time useless.
It may be trivial but I'd like to select a pet skin for PvP characters; giving a smaller selection between PvP than PvE but still a selection.
Make an arena with unevan number of players; right now we have 4-6-8 or in AB 12
AB sucks.... make it suck less.... It's too unorganized and takes too long to get into without a decent enough pay off. Or incentive really. I think if you made less of the PvE world availble to different allined players when Kurz or luxon own 80-90% of the map it would make it more interesting.
I've won 5 games in a row on the Kurz side and then been pushed back further into Kurs territory. I'd like to see a menu where it says how many wins Luxons and Kurz have and how many it will take to regain ground or to push forward.

I'm going to play pokemon xD (Blue.... because <3 blue even though I know red is better... on second thought I may play Red.... but I like being able to geta butterfree easily.. I don;t have a problem working for my beedrill... oh yeah and Beedrill owns later on trust me I know <3 twin needle)

I don't know if I like that. I mean you should lose the key if it is empty, just makes sense.
I would be interested in a eg. "Magumma Skeleton Key" for like 10K that opens every Magumma Jungle chest and never gets used up. Maybe customized to the player or maybe not, i dont't know. Also pro-rate the price based on where the key is for. Like "Ascalon Skeleton Key" would be 3K where a "Shiverpeak Skeleton Key" would be 25K.
Anyways, Just an idea!

The item system is cool i think people who spent millions on their crystalines would be upset but the blue and collectors looking crappy and gold looking good is a sweet idea.
12v12 gvg would be too chaotic. In alliance battles on those huge maps u almost always run into some one think of how crazy it will be in a smaller guild hall where most of the team will be in the flag stand area. I just dont think it would work well and most gvg players i know dont really seem tohave a problem with 8v8 neway.

i honestly want to see this, i have been thinking about this for along time and if HA goes back to 8v8 it would be a perfect turnover for more people.
I really like this idea, although i haven't played gvg since rspike was big. So i dont know the ups or downs.
I would like a larger discussion of this, but im too lazy to make my own thread so ill just try an hijack yours ;)

I personally don't like the weapon ideas. I kind of see the blue weapons being in bad shape a bit... redundant. It would make more sense to have a weapon with the pre-fix "Rusty" or "Ancient" or "Old" and represent that. But, thats just me. As for Crystallines go, to be honest, some people do enjoy it them, just becuase they're somewhat over priced for you, doesn't mean you should ruin it for others. If they made them so frequent, it would be a slap in the face of many people who did actually work to get theirs, and I'm sure if you worked x years at a company to buy a car, nd all of a sudden the company went out and gave that same car to everyone who didn't have one the next day, you wouldn't be that happy either.
Also, 1 hero and having a requirement of at least 4 members of a party a hench/human doesn't accomplish anything. Heroes are just modifiable versions of henchmen, and for the most part, most people I've met have relatively similar built heroes to henchmen. I personally do not have a problem with the heroes, because, unfortunately due to the butter spread of players on three campaigns, they help a lot. In fact, all heroes have done is made it simpler for people like myself who can and have henched every mission, to do it quicker and more efficiently. I for one appreciate heroes because I only have time to get on late at night, when no one is on, regardless. I go to school during the day, I work part time, and when I can, I log onto Guild Wars and do some farming and a mission or two. And now, with the addition of my soon-to-be born baby boy, I'll have less time and be even more reliant on heroes/henchmen. ^^

Personally I like the weapon rustiness etc. idea, it would give a point to having a gold weapon, as now in NF a blue weapon can be as good as a gold...however, I think the 1k fee for putting up an item in the Auction house is a big overpriced, perhaps 500g?

Changes that I'd like to see (That would probably make things better for the economy):
1) Make Gold items actually have a perfect something or other instead of the near perfect merchant food. That's what Purple drops are for.
2) Make Gold items actually rare drops to increase the value. And restrict them to higher level zones.
3) Don't make a common item (ie-Flatbow/Suntouched Scythe) with a cool attachment into a Gold item. Restrict them to somewhat Unique skins only. (ie-Adamantine Falchions/Ivory Bows/Crystallines...etc.) Common Skins ruin the purpose and meaning of a Gold item.
4) Restrict Green Items to End of Game and/or Elite Missions. Keep the number of Green Items the same as it is now, and keep the limit of Drops to less than the maximum number of the group that is farming.
5) Make sure that no one person can get multiple Green drops (in a single run).
6) Restrict Weapons and Coin drops to Humanoid Enemies. (I've never once seen a Sand Drake wield a sword, nor ask for change for a Platinum. Nor do I believe that he would find sharp pointy things nearly as tasty as the chewy center in the armoured thing.)
7) Make Rare Crafting Items Rare...do you know how many Bolts of Silk and other things I've gotten since the beginning of Nightfall?
8) Replace Boss Green Items with Gold Unique Skin items. With the rarity that the current Greens drop.
9) Make all Green items impossible to solo farm. I know that all the farmers currently love it right now, but that's the reason why they get so cheap so fast. So they can just deal with it and make a few friends.
I know...I posted some pics of my derv soloing...truthfully though, I got bored with it after day two. :-p I'd rather take my Derv to find the Elite zones in NF and have fun with a group...

No. The main reason people like crystalline swords is because they are rare. I personally hate the skin, but when I get one I am excited because it is a rare skin that is worth money to some people. Taking away the rarity is just a terrible idea.

I would be fine with all of these happening IF they did NOT do this:

Harrow and I often do everything together with just us 2 and hero's. If there was a mission we couldnt do together because we were only allowed 1 hero each, we would both probably quit GW.
I am not willing to waste hours on a mission trying it with PuG's when can just get together(me and harrow) and do it with us and hero's.
Example: Ruins of Morah(Varesh) - It took us about 3 tries before we finally beat it. Each time changing the build of the hero's, and changing our approach. If we were limited to 1 hero each then we would need 4 hench and it would literally have been impossible for us to do it(we were both ele's).
The hero/hench AI is perfectly fine as is.(as well as 3 hero's per person) Things are still challenging, as the above example. I would rather be able to customize my party's builds and be able to figure out how to do something, and also KNOW how I did it, than rely on getting lucky in a PuG.

What would happen is that a MUCH better looking item will take it's place. So that if it drops, not only is it rare, it's beautiful.

What would happen is that a MUCH better looking item will take it's place. So that if it drops, not only is it rare, it's beautiful. |
But what about all those who have worked so hard to get themselves a crystalline now? WOuldn't it be unfair to take away their little trophy? Even if you say that theirs would change into the new item their are people out there who adore the skin it has and it would be wrong to change that. Leave the crystallines as they are so there is at least one thing still rare in this game.
I also agree 100% with mwpeck above me. I think heros are a blessing since me and my gf can do anything in the game now without having to rely on pugs which often end up just frustrating us and wasting a lot of time when the objective doesn't take near that. I still help other groups with parts when I'm bored so I don't see why heros should be restricted anymore than they are now. Besides, they aren't that bright, they still refuse to move out of AoE a lot when enemies do about 75% of the time.

Remember when Anet de-valued the HoD Swords? It would be like that.
I'm not saying that the skin would be replaced, I'm saying that as the value of the Crystallines went down, the value of a much better and worthier item would go up. Nothing about changing the actual skin of the Crystallines.
There would still be rare things, matter of fact it might be worth more than the crystalline. Most of the people I know who have a crystalline don't like the skin, but they buy it because it's so rare. What if there was an item as rare as the crystalline but that everyone liked the skin?

I am aware but my point is that it will have shown that those people whoe spent thousands if not millions for their crystallines would have wasted that and it wouldn't be fair. Go ahead and add in another rare weapon but don't make those already rare more abundant. That way crystallines still hold their own on the market and as trophies but people will be able to get another item that looks better and rarer. Sort of like having two options instead of completely killing the past one.
