When I asked Gaile about the new proffessions in chapeter 4 she said:



What if there aren't any new proffessions in Ch4?
Will you still buy it?

I would defenitely buy it, I think that there doesn' need to be 2 new professions with the release of every campaign because soon there will be too many professions. In a PvP sense this means that success will often mean meeting a team which has professions not suited to fighting the ones you have picked if there are too many. Also, I would rather that the development team concentrated on making good skills for existing professions rather than focussing on alot of new skills.

Thats a point, its stil has a reason to buy except for the new story... But new professions are cool, new ways to play...

So if they make a new prof, i hope its a good one and not a wierd version of the ones we already have.

As I already told somewhere else, I don't care if there's no new professions. What I do care is a new and involving storyline, and an entertanining and enjoyable gameplay. I finished factions with a monk and finish nightfall with an elementalist.
If there wasn't new professions in NF I would still be as satisfied with it. Also, no professions could make me think Factions was an awesome expansion - I didn't like the gameplay and the mission system. But that's me.

I would love to see C4 have no new professions. That way they can better conentrate on the game and story. I'm sure doing those professions takes alot of time.

I dont think it would bother me too much if there wasnt any new profs, its a bonus if there is, as long as theres plenty of new skills and elites(and armor =p) and great gameplay im as happy as a bunny hyped up on carrots!

i would like to see a bit more work on PvP tho

Yeah i agree to not having new professions in Chap 4 and instead they focus more on the story line, add more skills thenever and improve other aspects of the game, such as PvP in general.

i wud definitely buy c4 because of the linked storyline, new skills, new armor and new weapon skins... it doesnt really matter to me if anet will not release new characters since i already hav my favorite character (guess what... a warrior ^^) but i can imagine having more fun with new professions because that means new kinds of enemies for me!!!!!!!! muahahahaha!!!

I feel the same way, I much rather Anet concentrate on the other three chapters, instead of adding new professions, and such. The skills we have now are fine, too much tweaking and you know someone is going to get upset. I would much rather see C4 go as an update on the first 3 chapters. There is so much map still left to uncover. Do a huge update that we have to pay for, similiar to SF, but for all 3 chapters, I would definately be buying something like that. Still with the storyline, but more to do in the chapters we already have.
I have 8 out of the 10 prof. I am having a hard time always deciding what I want to do..there is already so much to try to accomplish and damnit there are only so many hours of the day lol.

It will be intertesting to see what Anet is doing with C4..is it going to be another land for us to save, or will it be a huge update to C1-3? Time will tell.

New professions are not a requirement for me either, I would buy CH 4 nevertheless.
I want lot more new skills for existing professions, especially lot more elites.
It is nice to introduce new professions and their 150 skills or so, but I would rather have 10 more elites for each attribute for each existing profession than those.
Elites are lot of fun, they are like a key skill in each build so more elites mean more build variety.

For me the storyline is also important, if it takes 5 weeks to completely develop a new profession BUT it leaves only 10 weeks for a storyline than I would rather input those 5 weeks and make it a total of 15 weeks devoted to the storyline and a lengthy/huge map.

People love PvE, people loved NF.

I wish they could simply merge PvP part of Factions with PvE part of NF and bring out the ultimate GW chapter.

I loved the Fort Aspenwood and AB battles in Factions and I hope the next chapter will include much more of such mission based PvP.

ok, i still gonna buy, even if there anret new profs. And even if I DONT play gw xD like im doing now ( not playing it ) i dont know why, but i still love gw and i didnt played for 1-2week s =S, but wath does C4 means?

I'd be happy with one profession, that way it will be only half the work for Anet (designing, that is), yet giving people something new to try (except for the skills etc).
The only problem you'd get that way is that C4 will be crowded by a large part of only those characters..

On second thought, no new proffs wouldn't be a bad idea either :)

I would like to see no new proffesions, but something like skills that you can only use with a certain profession combination, that are related to an attribute of the first and an attribute of the second profession. This would make build-making a lot more interesting

i think, perhaps, that we will get different combinations of the current proffessions, for example, we can have all the original 6, and a dervish and an assassin perhaps? i dont think they should keep on making new ones though...else...

it would make the storyline amazing if you could play as a certain race

(avicara, stone summit, deldrimore dwarf, charr, Human, imps, elves, glob of ectoplasm)

with skills that are only available for each race and having a completely different storyline for each yet intertwining them all. Including missions that if you are successful you unlock one path and unsuccessful you unlock another. (Kind of like Star fox 64)

This would have amazing potential and be a valid substitute for not having new professions... actually I think it would be a little better than having new professions.

With the different races you could add so much new depth to PvP with skills and advantages against certain skills and disadvantages against others elemental resistances etc.

All of this would make the story not linear like it is now; jump from one mission to the next if you lose oh well try again. Much more entertaining and add a lot of competitiveness to the game in itself.

We already have people going nuts over Kurzick and Luxon imagine different armies of different races (in PvE of course PvP you should be able to combine your forces xD).

But I know none of this will ever happen because it would take too much time and effort. The only thing that might (99% chance it wont) happen is different character race skins which will be nothing more than asthetic in value. We have an avicara henchmen in Factions so they might clue in but I doubt it.

The Campaign will be sorely linear with terrible voice acting and cheesey cutscenes with no pre rendered cinematic or a decent payoff at the end other than armor I wont be bothered to afford or attain.

The connection between characters in Guild Wars is little if none. When Rurik died (twice) people cheered; when Thunderhead keep fell and dwarves were slaughtered not a tear was shed. Saidra was slaine (if you didn't prot spirit her) and people shrugged it off. Kormir dies and I couldn't have cared less.

Part of the storyline is the chaarcters and being able to feel something for them. It should be like a good book or a movie when someone dies you should feel something above

"OMG SKIP THE CINEMATIC"

When Cpt. Keyes died I almost cried; when Zelda was Captured I was enraged and determained; when Zelda was over I was satisfied and almost cried; (when I played these games I was young but still)

When Dash rendars fate was undetermained I was distraught (Star wars 64)

When Andross was defeated I was relieved; When I escaped the Nazis prison with duel machine guns I felt invincible (Castle Wolfenstein)

By far the best game I have played for action storyline and overall "omg this is awesomeness" is "Dead to Rights"

There are so many twists turns and plot line developments and it's all strung together so well inbetween the action. (Plus the game is next to impossible)

The graphics are horrid but you don't need graphics to make a game awesome.

Guild wars needs more depth but not in the department of skills or professions it needs depth in feeling.

But we wont get it so don't get your hopes up; expect a linear campaign with more trivial allies that get killed off and you fail to notice.

they should scrap Guild Wars and make Guild Wars 2 to quit while they're ahead.

Not trying to go against the grain here but id love to see 2 new proffesions. Yeah improved story line, more effort in exsisting profs skills and a better campaign would be nice, but i love playing new classes and seeing what they offer to the exsisting classes and how they work together. Maybe its just me but id be really disapointed to see c4 come out and there were no new professions

I think I would enjoy the game better if they didnt add 2 more professions for every chapter. Who has a lvl 20 char of every profession?
Even though its fun to discover new classes, I think that they should take the time they would have used to make new professions to rethink some of the game's aspect. Make the gvg more interesting, improve the pet system, add a third high level place like FOW or UW at the temple of ages. Maybe add some more place to the already existing continents (cantha's map is huge, but a big part is useless).

Nope not paying for new weapons that I can just buy or a story I never pay attention too. New gameplay would be nice but I havent seen it in the last two chapters. So basically it would jsut be a money portal for anet which would be a waste of my money for me personally.

I think for Chapter 4, I'd rather see no new continent. Already places are becoming thin with people. Lion's Arch used to have a dozen districts or more, now there may be 3 or 4 at best (aside from holidays of course). I would rather see new explorable areas in existing continents.

Like what lurks in the Shiverpeaks Frost Gate and Granite Citadel, east of Snake Dance? Is the peninsula west of the Crystal Desert the remnants of Orr? What's north of Beetletun and The Wilds? Is it Charr territory? I want to counter atttack them, make them pay for what they did to Ascalon! What lies on the coastlines west of Camp Rankor or those south of Maguuma Stade? What lies east of Moddok Crevice? Or any of those other areas throughout Elona and Cantha that aren't accessible?

I would love to see more zones like Sorrow's Furnace and Domain of Anguish. Realms for the other gods of Dwana, Lyssa, Melandru, etc.

Even add new red (or whatever color) weapons even more rare than greens.

Of course new armor...

...and new skills.

Add new abilities for characters such as weapon smithing, material workers, weapon modding, alchemy, etc.

Raise the level cap (though this would take a lot more time and work.)

I would rather do new things in the same continents rather than do the same thing in new continents.

and what i would like to see is that humans take over all tyria.

we go back to ascalon to kill the charr, slaughter the stone summit dwarfs, and even kill the 5 gods :D

no new content plz but making the 3 'lands' bigger

there are only3 things that i care about guildwars, and want the dev teams to work on...
1) content. there needs to be a nice solid, stable amount of content in the game. if you dont have that, it doesnt matter what else there is because the content overrules everything else.

2)skills. same skills get old. if we dont get new ones, old builds will never get altered and the fun factor will die

3)armor. who doesnt like a nice set of armor here and there?

I think they need to step up the game in this area and make Armour drop from bosses etc, it would allow players to show off their playing achievements, and also add to the variety of armours (which isn't really varied at the moment).

as said before...

new proffessions dont matter.. i would love just seeing tons of new original skills, a great storyline, new types of armor, and maybe some cool new types of arenas


(maybe change HA back to 8 people, then make a new arena for 6.)


and if there is new professsions, i think it should something that focuses on 1 element, but has different ways to use the element.

ele's use water, air, fire, earth. where as a new proffession could be focused on taking one of those elements, and making things like
ex) primary attribute- every 5 ranks, fire spells u cast cause foe to burn 1 more second. water spells cause them to move 33% slower. earth causes them to be knocked down, and air causes 8%more armor penetration. idk just a thought

This won't happen, the whole point of guildwars is that you don't have to pay to play, and you don't have to spend hours grinding away. Raising the level cap will totally unbalance everything, PvP and PvE. (Not pointed at you, but sheesh what is everyone's obsession with raising the level cap?)

I would be perfectly happy to see no new professions. 10 professions is quite a lot, there is a lot of scope there and I don't want Anet to produce a crap new profession just because they feel they have to. I'd much rather see a good storyline, good skills and pretty new armour.

You need to raise the Artibute points to, so you can't.

I love to see new proffesions, they are needed for the story.

Factions had Assasins and Ritualists because they had an Asian theme.

Nightfall had Dervish and Paragons because they had an Afric theme.

Chapter 4 wil have ...... and ....... because they have an Norse, Roman theme.

NO ONE CARES

This annoys me to no end. She's dead and if she's not I'll kill her. She's a trivial character who has no effect on the storyline what so ever. She's in Pre searing to teach you how to do quests that involve chains of items like Mystereous message and other bull. If anything it's an inside joke for the programmers.

I'm just going to reiterate what many others have already said here...

I really can't handle more professions myself. I have one character of every profession right now, and though I love having the variety and choice as to what I want to play when, I'm already stretched a bit thin, hehe.

I am all for a great new storyline that covers more of the lore and its correlation between the campaigns.

I am all for shiny new armor styles.

I am all for fancy new skills and weapons skins.

Though I'm not a big PvPer, I am all for improvements to the PvP arenas and systems.

I'm not interested in anything that would make GW a true hardcore MMO...no level cap raising (this would start grinding)...no time consuming tasks such as tradeskills...no raid-style instanced play. I've already played a game that was a 'time-played' based game and I prefer the laid back gaming I do now :-)
