| Unlocking Skills in Nightfall |
|
|
|
I was told that if I unlock a skill on one character, it unlocks it in all my characters. Well I built a Paragon and unlocked some skills. However, those skills only showed up on my hero skills (as in Koss' skill list) and not in my main's secondary. Do I have to level before it unlocks? How does that work?

It unlocks them so you can buy them from a Skill Trader. It doesn't actually give all your characters the skills. :)

when you unlock a skill on one character, all of you other characters dont get that skill, it becomes available to buy at the skill vendor. so if you have 10k balth faction, you can unlock 10 normal skills for a profession and then buy them from a skills vendor
hope that helped

Ok you lost me on that one. What is Balth (Balthazar) faction? Where do I see it. And how do I "buy" skills? Is there a skill vendor in every city?

in a few outposts and in all capitals (like droknars forge, Lion Arch and Ascalon City) there are skill vendors indeed.
If you play PvP, you get Balthazar faction. With this faction, you can go to a Priest of Balthazar to unlock skills. If you unlock those skills u can buy them at those vendors. This does NOT count for elite skills.

Balth faction is basically points that you get in PvP matches that represents your favor with the God of War. You can see it in your hero menu on the first page (Hit H by default and it should show up; top bar there).
You "buy" skills with faction at a Priest of Balthazar, which are found at most PvP outposts, in the Great Temple of Balthazar, and (if your guild bought one) in your Guild Hall. It costs 1000 faction to unlock a normal skill, which will then be available at every skill trainer from the associated campaign, will be usable by Heroes, and will be usable by PvP characters. It costs 3000 faction to unlock an elite skill, which then becomes available to heroes and PvP characters though your PvE characters still have to capture them.
You can also unlock various Heroes for 6000 faction each; these will be available to PvP characters at level 20. Finally, you can unlock any and all runes, inscriptions, insignias, and weapon mods for various amounts of faction, between 1000 and 2000. These will become available to PvP characters.
There aren't skill vendors in every city, but in Nightfall they are in a lot of them. For the most part, the skill vendors in the same region have the same skill selection.

When you purchase a skill from a skills vendor, that particular character learns that skill, and the skill is unlocked on your account. What that means is that the PvE character who bought the skill can use it whenever. What having a skill unlocked on your account means is that any of your characters heroes can use it, and any time you make a PvP character, he can use it. However, other PvE characters will not be able to use the skill without first purchasing it themselves. You can purchase skills both from skill vendors and from hero skill vendors. Skill vendors require gold and a skill point, which you earn for leveling and completing missions, and hero skill trainers require only hero skill points, which you earn for increasing levels in the sunspear and lightbringer titles. Both accomplish exactly the same thing, you still learn skills from hero skill vendors, they aren't just unlocked on your account. So it's a free way to get a few skills.
Here are the locations of all Skill vendors in Nightfall and what skills they have:
