favorite super hero and why

who is your superhero and why mine is a toss up beetwen iron man and spider man i like iron man becuse he looks so cool with his armor and he isnt such a goodies to shoes like supes he has a dark side to him i like that becuse its more real and i like spider man becuse he has problems not like super man or bat man there lives are perfect spider man has problems like we all do

Well, as far as favorite powers, I have to go Spiderman. Speed, agility, too much fun. As far as heroness? (its hero plus ness) I'd have to say superman. He could easy rule the world with no opposition, but instead he is the most noble hero around. Gotta respect that.

Iron Man he's iron mantastic. That and War Machine. He can blast smack and take some damage only monkeys with sledgehammeres and poop throwing abilities could rival that.

Lets clarify something. Do you mean always been a publicly reconized hero?
There are quite a few comic book characters that have been seen as both heros and villains.
Prime example Magneto he has been a hero as well as villian. There is Sabretooth who worked with heros for the government for a time but is card carrying killer. Wolverine also has been a hero and wanted by the law. Even the lovable Dead Pool.
The best would be Forge with the ability to create and fix almost anything.

Superman for what he stands for.

Batman for the dark mysterious hero, and the troubles he has seen in life. In alot of ways it is similar to my life.

I have many others that I like but those are my favorite.

I've always liked Nightcrawler and Colossus, in that order. X-Men seems to have a lot of good characters in it's ranks.
Ghost Rider I don't know much about at all, but he intruiges me. Same case with Silver Surfer.

Even though Martian Manhunter isn't in my top 3, I'll give him an honorable mention. He has a nice assortment of powers and has a personality that appeals to my tastes.

Lots of others come close, but for me to list them all would take more effort then I'm willing to offer, not to mention tons of space.

I like Green Lantern. Currently I'm into the Green Lantern Corp. series. Its always facinated me why a superhero would continue to choose to do what they do when so many people/beings hate them for who they are and what they represent. There are so many reasons to stop helping others, to think about your own needs for a minute, to worry about what's happening on your home world, yet for the GL's its whats important for the Corp above all else.

Plus...who wouldn't want a ring to be able to do whatever your imagination could come up with, translate any language, and give you access to information gathered from all corners of the universe. And a GL is chosen because they are worthy, not some random genetic flaw or act of violence.

Thor, God of Thunder and last Ruler of Asgard! Has to be my favorite of all time.

Then there is Gambit and Wolverine that also strike my fancy...heroes by choice, however, they have not always walked on the golden brick road...

Alright well, since you've mentioned villains...
I'll agree that Magneto's an awesome villain. My favorite's probably a tie between him and Green Goblin from the Ultimate universe...normal green goblin's irritating though.

My honorable mentions for the villains side would have to be Doc Ock and Venom.

Well I gotta go with Wolverine.

Growing up reading comic books I was a big fan of the Fantastic Four, Avengers, and Iron Man. But when Wolverine came along, he was the first anti-hero that I really liked. I guess what I like about him is that he is at the core a noble character BUT he has no problem doing what needs to be done.

And if we aren't limiting it to "heroes", give me the meglomaniacs Dr. Doom and Magneto and toss in Deadpool for some fun!

I've always been "that guy". You know...the one who, when asked if they could wish for one thing, they would wish for more wishes...

Keeping that in mind, my favorite Superhero would have to be...Rogue. But not like pansy-Rogue from the movie or recent comics, more like the Uncanny X-Men Late 100s/early 200s Rogue who kicked @$$ and took names. :)

ok i have to admit, I HATE WOLVERINE!!! hes on the cover of every comic book, even if he makes a cameo in like the lunchroom scene. hes so annoying. "oh man, im so cool and shady, waaah i cant remember what happenned to me....hey look, i can heal my body but not my emooootions! jeannie, i love you!" ugh i just get sick of it. ok, cool. he can cut anything. but he would die if storm, or psylocke, or polaris (another favorite i forgot to mention) decided he was annoying. so many other characters go unappreciated and dont get a lot of comic limelight cuz the dont just say "bub" every other word and hack people. UGH!

PS- if you DO like wolverine, i like you still, just not him :)

I definately agree about the fact that he's over-hyped. I don't really hate him though...I used to but he's growing on me. Still, I don't think he warrants being a multi-purpose cameo for everything Marvel. He's cool and all, but when you think about it, he's not really all *that* special. Personally, I'd also like to see other lesser-used but (imo) cooler characters get more page-time.

*EDIT* As a little aside to Celtic Lightning, funnily enough my brother informed me today that his favorite X-man's Angel.

My favorite would be X-Man, Nate Grey. He had more raw power then Prof. X; even pulling of things that Prof. X did not realize could be done. When he "fell" to earth not only did Prof. X and Cable feel it, Jean Grey passed out from the immense power and the likes of Spiderman with his spider sense and even Doctor Strange felt it. The man had amazing power; bar none.
