myself I wouldn't take traps... but then again I wouldn't take poison either LOL. FF, or Miasma is to me the best for an MM.

Personally, I build to origin.
I have a Necro/Dark MM and a Merch/Trap MM. I've never liked the Traps set and I have rarely used any of them, I only choice it cause it fit my characters Origin.
The Dark set is a great set to use as it has a great party heal.

Hey Col,
I'll let you know that you did not make a bad choice with Poison. I made a Nec/Poison and a Thug/Poison MM and Poison is a very great Secondary to use. The debuff factor is great on them.
You can drop your targets def and dam and acc all at the same time. There are AoEs and some holds involved as well.
I'd say keep going with Poison and it'll get a lot better in the later levels, especially when you slot them with Acc and debuffs.

Thanks i had a neat idea to send in a Pet Bot with the infectoin into a crowd of good guys which could cause some major pain. Or infect the big guy lol

Go with traps, those are my favortie and you accually can affect the battle field more then you can with FF and dark.

Oh, yes, Dark sucks. AoE heal and res debuffs, Cone fear attack, Toggle AoE Debuff that takes away a quarter of a group of enemies' damage, PBAoE Team Rez and longest disorient power in the game... oh, and that Level 38 thing with twice your hp that has all of those attacks and more.
Yep, definately nothing there that can

For those of you not guessing the obvious, Italics mean sarcasm.
Because Dark is one of the best MM Debuff sets (not to mention sets period), just a bit below or on par with Poison, whose main purpose is debuffs. It has heals and rezzes. It has good mezzes. And thematically, it's one of the coolest. In addition to being the only MM Secondary that gives you another pet, which, when slotted with recharges, can be kept up permanantly.
To state my point again: Don't knock something you haven't tried past 18.

I agree with you in every regard. . .
But,
I think he was being sarcastic.
At least, I hope he was.
In the end though you should definitely go with whatever you feel fits your playstyle best. Even though DM pwns all the other sets when it comes right down to it, it's important to sometimes ignore the numbers and take a chance.

ya the heal that comes with Dark as far as I can see it is in many respects better than that of an actual healer. I have teamed with healers that heal around 275k in HP with my heal I hit upwards of 350 to 375. Granted though I don't have any were near the range there heals do but heck I wont complain. Plus with howling twightlight it can disorient and entire mob for a good deal of time, not to mention rez your entire team so long as they dropped near you but with recall friend you can easily rez your whole team as long as you save a target.
As for the Dark Servant... well I don't think I even need to cover that topic. Now I will give credit were credit is due.. traps does deliver some good damage at high lvls but until you get there your really crippled. The triage becon doesnt actually heal however does increase your regen rate but its not good for in combat. Guess I just never seen enough points on the set to take it.
As for Poison dont really know a lot about it although I have heard many times that it does have really good debuffs.
FF, well lets just say.. if they cant even hit you how can that be bad?

Did i say anything about dark being bad? I personnally like dark and i affects the battle in general, i was speaking about the battle field by placing traps and mines rather then turning on toggles and poison trap i feel is a better hold then fearsome stare "and it has a longer range" But orcis is right, i did sort of struggle in the beggining with traps, but with trip mine, i can kill a bos in 30 seconds.

Well, this statement is not totally true. Necro gives you an additional summoned pet, Soul Extraction.
Now as for DM, yes, I agree that it is one of the better Secondaries for the MM set, however, I still feel that Poison is very underrated.
Poison, overall is battling for the best Debuff set in the entire game. That's where the name 'Poison' comes from. The only reason people shy away from this set is because it goes against the MM principle of sitting back and letting the henchmen do the work. You actually have to be a very active person to use the Poison set. constantly debuffing while your henchmen do their thing. The single target heal can keep you very busy as well. The main reason this set is challenging is because it's a very end heavy set. With constant debuffing and healing, your end will soon dwindle and quickly depending on who or what you're fighting.
I vote for Poison if you think that you're bored with MMs or the game in general and there is not real challenge out there. It'll keep ya very busy.

Emphasis there being on Secondary powersets. Necromancy is a Primary.
