Ok it seems that for some reason that i have alienated like 20 of whom i condsidered friends becuase i was in a pvp zone.. pvping... having fun and they got pissed irate and well stupid about there reactions complaining that during the doulbe xp weeked i shouldnt be pvping i should be lvling or whatever.. my question is this.. when did this GAME (and yes it is a game) become so DULL that there is no more fun in the game.. i was having fun running around killing gettign killed saying good shot and all that.. yet they were pissed cause i "interupted there lvling" so to re ask my question when did this GAMe become only about grinding xp and not having FUN?

lol, I know how you feel UD. I've had the hardest time trying to find teams for SF, Respect, and Missions because everyone is busy grinding the XP and mostly Power Leveling.
Not to offend anyone that Power Levels, but IMO this is a game and its ment to be PLAYED. You're not playing when you are sitting in a zone letting someone else do all the work just so you can leech off the XP. I'm strongly against PLing and have been with every MMORPG I've played.
I was discussing my disguest with all the PLing that was going on in my Super Group and apparently I offended ALOT of people because of it.

Well, I’m in the middle on this Power Leveling. I have a Stalker, Hero Hater, that I don’t care about. I just want to level him up, so I ghost paper missions. With the help of a friend I learned how to power level others, and have been. I would not power level someone new to CoV, they should be exploring different contacts and playing the game out. I have power leveled my friends who have been in CoV for a while and they just want to level up. All my other toons I take my time leveling them. I did not do any missions on the Double XP weekend with my main toon Godless. I didn’t want to out level my contacts and miss badges and temp powers. I think a lot of CoV players have become obsessed with XP and don’t care about the game itself. A lot of players get mad when they die because of debit. I am fine with it, there are debit badges and it’s part of the game. Farming missions is another way to get a lot of XP. I don’t mind farming missions for badges, and I have farmed missions for XP. When I farm a mission for XP I might do it 2 or 3 times and get bored and leave. I have heard of players spending many many hours farming a mission for XP.
Now when UD beat someone in a PvP zone and they got mad. Well it is a PvP zone, your going to die. If you don’t want to die in a PvP zone, leave. I will broadcast that I am not there to PvP if I don’t want to fight someone. It don’t work well but I do it anyway. I might be there for Shivas or badges but I tell everyone what I am doing. And if they get mad at you for killing them oh well, it’s just a game.

Well, we all must understand first and foremost, this is a game.
So, UD, you are correct in your assumption of the game concept.
Now, I can't speak to PvP zones, because I don't frequent them, however, you also have to remember that while this is a game, people choose to play the game in different ways.
So, while you are wanting to play the game in one way, others are wanting to play in a way that differs from how you play. This is something that, when dealing with others, you'll have to accept as 'part of the game'.
People have different attitudes, tolerance levels, etc., and you'll have to have some thick skin to be able to get past all the griping to how you choose to play. When playing a MMO, do understand that you're not the only one playing and your play style is not like everyone else's. Try to respect everyone's reason for playing as you would want them to respect you for yours. Because, at the end of the day, when we hit the logoff button and shut down the PC, we were just playing a game that's intended to bring us some type of pleasure...so don't take things that happen in game too personal : )

I understand that the play styles are diffrent.. completely.. in fact case in point the reason i posted my comment was becuase i was in a pvp zone and i killed a guy.. i didnt trash talk or anything and later that same guy and his group were fighting two bosses i nthe pvp zone.. so i ran over there and helped them kill the boss.. they immediatyl turned on me and they all attacked me killing me.. then they spoke trash about how i "missed that time" and "not going to happen this time"
So they were somewhat intrested in attacking me.. else... they wouldnt have.. i killed the boss and started backing away.. i never even throe a attack at them

Well, if that was their reaction I don't think you lost any friends. You only lost an illusion. It is very sad they treated you like that. COV and COH is about fun, and nothing else. Most people probably had fun grinding xp this weekend. I had fun playing my level 50 character. You had fun playing pvp. If they think they can dictate you how to spend your time you are better off without them.

Wow a manager and a admin responding to my post.. thx.. i understand that.. just angered me and make me rethink even playing Cov anymore.. just stupid.. and since there sg is number one i pissed off one of them they all hate me now oh well though... my SG isnt number one... i dont even think it makes the top 100 but it is mine we are close and friends.. i donot have the 400 rep but i am close i dont have 5 lvl 50's i got one.. but you know what.. i have fun playing this game and if anyone blames me for that that can KISS MY (edited for content) <---- ohhh yeah no cussing

There you go...don't let anyone dictate how you play. If they don't wanna play nice with their toys, then play with your own toys : )
Don't ever quit this game or any other game that you enjoy over stupid people...cause if you did, i'd have to hunt you down and turn you inside out...with a rusted butterknife!

Thanks Bishop i just wish you guys were on pinnacle (hint) cause that would be fun (hint) you guys know how to play a game and enjoy it but alas your not on pinnacle (hint) and BTw.. rusted butterknives are my favorite thing besides of course chinchillas and pig ears... so think of a better threat *lol*

Yes, that threat was a bit odd Bishop. I think you'll need to revise it if you want to keep your evil meter up. And it really is quite a shame that such wonderful people who know how to have fun aren't on freed-erm-I mean pinnacle. [/hint]

Well, As much as I play my Villains compared to my Heroes lately, I really should be posting over here more now!
The fact that they got mad would have been hilarious.
First, the double exp weekend didn't all of the sudden make it NOT a hazard zone. You were actually performing part of the grand design for the game..... being a hazzard. And unless you drug them into PvE mobs so that they can get real debt, all they lost is a few precious minutes by going to the hospital.
They were running in the hazzard zones because the mission bonusses are higher there. With all good things comes a risk. I applaud you for doing something other than PL'ing your toons and maintaining the Hazzard Zone "intent".
The thought of all of those players out there seemingly blinded by double XP, totally forgetting they are in a "Kill or be killed" zone is floor rolling funny!
If they did get mad over that, then it wouldn't be long before something else set them off. Like Phe said, it was just an illusion.

Now here's the million dollar question: when they got upset at you, were you on a team at the time (specifically on a team with the guys getting upset)?
Because if you were teaming with them and you were off PvPing while they tried to level, I can see eye-to-eye with them and I'd agree; everyone should be in the same place. But if you were just off by yourself, then they had no right to get upset with you.
I'm sure that they value you skills so much that they feel doing missions without you is an excercise in futility. Apparantly they need you in order to level effectively.
I also agree with many other here in that this game is here to have fun; that's the purpose of any & every game. Sure, you want your bragging rights, want to win and be effective, etc., but if you're not having fun, there's really no reason to play the game (unless you're being paid to play it, in which case please tell me because I want that job).
All in all, don't let it get to you. If they're gonna react that way without a good reason, then you don't need them. The good thing about CoH/CoV is that you can find a good group of steady gamers all over the place. Its also one the reasons Gameamp is here: anytime you want a person to run with, just let it be known and you'll get one 9 times out of 10.
