Adios Amigoses

Wow, Anet did do a great job changing skills, HoH needed to be changed, the same builds were over used. As for the farming builds, im sure the skills that have been buffed will do great build to replace old stuff...But for me, this is crap. I never managed to be able to farm more than 100k out of a build before it got nerfed, I want 15k, I want greens, I want money damn it. I know its meant to be a cooperative game but hell, why do they make drops go less frequent with a bigger party? I like pvp but its not enough and I lke playing alone sometimes, and anyway most people are dicks in PUGs...especially monks (no offense monks in here, you judge if your a dick by yourself). And for the ones that want to say go play WoW, it's so not the same thing.

So far now, i've been a addicted fan of GW but Anet, now, as taken every hope in me to ever be good in this game. Whatever you might say theres no balance, someone who played for 1 hour will never be able to beat a 10 hour player, there's too much things to know, to understand, to be able to be good...That's why people are so selective in certain area: you got to know everything.

Back when I played Diablo 2, I thought it sucked that the player was good cause of its armor or weapon, i couldnt find anything god so I stopped to play. Back then when i discovered GW, I thought it was good that only appearance changed for armors that needed alot of gold, now I find it discriminatory, since, now, only people that played for like a hundred hours were able to make enough money, farming trolls or something. I myself farmed trolls with my warrior to buy 15k, took me so many time...Now it's impossible for me to spend that much time to farm em...as they don't drop anything good anymore.

I won't go play anything else, I payed for this damn game, that I loved! But they did so much changes that now I'm not even appreciating an hour of play. WTF ANet, let the game go for a while, LET IT BREATH FOR A DAMN SECOND. You can't change the whole game every six months with the new chapters coming! You will make more client by releasing a new game, but hell, think about us too, the players that been out here for a while now. The ones that saw normal skill going elite, the one that saw ectos go from 3k to 10k, THE ONES THAT LOVED THE GAME THE WAY IT WAS, even if some things were unbalanced, overpowered or whatever other bullshit they can think of.

Now you got some choices:
1. To let the Nerf Stick IN IS DAMN CLOSET.
2. Continue what your doing and make the game worst and worst.

There is sure more choices than that, but for now they haven't listened to the 1/100000 of us. Like Gaile Grey said: Sure we can hear you all but we can't all answer you...AND THEY'VE BEEN TALKING ABOUT A HAIR STYLIST FOR 3 MONTHS!!! WTH, we don't need that for the game to be better.
As for another thing like the Auction House, it's been more than a year that it has been talked of, and the only thing they got to answer us was the Search box, which isn't even near an Auction House. We wanted one to stop the spamming, Kamadan is flooded, LA too and so does Kaineng.

So after telling you all this, for those who read all along, for those who might care a little after all, I say: Good Bye, no more GW for me, I've been stacking the frustration of nerfs for too long now. Adios ANet, you lost a customer.

RE: Adios Amigoses

I have to agree there, if you can't adapt, why did you bother to play? You should also be aware that the game WILL change every six months, regardless. Unfortunately, thats how Guild Wars is, and if I remember correctly, D2 and LoD were practically the same way, nerfs nerfs nerfs. Oh, right, I forgot, it's what happens in every MMORPG :/ I think you need to focus that hour of game play that you're disliking, unlock some skills, modify your build and get on with things. The recent changes, as they were didn't really affect things and, I've actually found the stance changes good, overall. The only thing they disrupted is the certain ones that protected against specific things and were vital to a few farming builds.

RE: Adios Amigoses

I can't say I agree with you, nor am I happy to see you go at this point... But if that's your choice, that's your choice. Good luck in whatever you move on to.

For myself, my builds have consistently been unaffected by or improved by updates... A big part of that is the fact that I intentionally and actively avoid using builds that are very common unless I absolutely cannot make a different one to perform the same task. It is possible for others to do the same, but in most cases it's easier to use premade builds that you know are effective rather than spending the time to actively test and refine a build.

The problem with using common builds is that those builds are common for a reason, namely that they are extremely powerful. The fact that they are powerful means that ANet can and will depower them when it becomes necessary, so while they're useful before the inevitable nerf, they become significantly less so after said nerf. The only way to truly and absolutely avoid the nerfstick is to use consistently UNDERpowered skills, since they'll inevitably be improved (though in some cases, like with Incendiary Arrows, that improvement can be a long time coming).

In any case... Goodbye and stuff. Have fun with life, and if ever you wish to return, someone will still be here.

RE: Adios Amigoses

Why do people complain so much about nerfs?

I have played for exactly 1 year this month and I have several characters, several sets of armor "including 15k", high end golds, greens and with a pretty penny in the bank.. all without farming.

In my opinion, I believe that nerfs should happen to make people grow beyond one build and become stronger in what they like to do. If you love to farm but you only use one build for years what point is there if you know it well but can't change if something happens to that build.

Some of these nerfs are to make people think and come up with new builds. Some are used to stop botters and yes will hurt normal farmers who just farm to get that little extra gold to buy that new weapon they want. Yeah so what, overcome the nerf and make a new build that will work effectively.

People complain that their ideas like the auction house, hair dresser or certain other aspects they wanted are being ignored. It takes time to code these features and they have to weigh they options if it fits Guild Wars. I would personally like to see a auction house and a hair dresser but I am not going to go on a super long rant and quit the game because I did not get this or that feature. I will just keep playing and developing my character. When they finally come out with those features then yay.

*sighs* anyways, good luck in the game you want to play. :)

RE: Adios Amigoses

I dunno, im kinda with you on Anet beating the game to death with the nerf stick, but then again Im not.

Sure alot of us are upset about this new update and the skill balance changes but one thing that ive always noticed about the Guild Wars community (which is slowing falling apart to the point of being level with the quality of Runescape community) is that we persevere.

When the AI was updated, people were sad, angry, and frustrated and they probably quit.

During the off season Skill Balances people became upset and probably left.

This is true in almost every case, but the ones of us that have been around since beta will stick here till the end, we change and conform to the maze Anet created for us. Those of us who have those fond memories of pioneering back when it was just prophecies, adventuring across Kryta with a PuG just to discover, not for quests/farming/money. It was about having fun. We have been here, and we will stay here, because I myself have seen that the ones who truly care about the game will adapt.

When farming took a big hit, it left a sour taste in my mouth, but it got better as new ways to farm began to surface. I got interested again. I found new ways/places to farm and even a few old places were still farm able. It took more patience and you had to think about it now though, and people didnt like 'thinking'. Now that 55 was pretty much dead, a large portion of the farming community just gave up and called it quits.

The invincimonk wasnt so invincible after all.

We dedicated kept going, kept changing.

I still yearn for those days when Eviscerate was still the beast it was, I dont want the battle isles, Hell - I even miss the old camp-style login screen.
PvP was at its best when it was just prophecies.
I miss when Sorrows Furnace was still a viable place for money and Drago/Rago werent the only reason to farm there.

Yeah I want it back the way it was when it was just prophecies, but it wont ever be like that again. So suck it up and walk it off, and open your eyes - do something instead of just complaining and maybe your spirit to play the game will come back.

These updates are almost like a comb Anet uses to separate those dedicated enough to continue ,and those who just give up.

The fact of it all is that we will go on, we wont be silenced, we will survive.

RE: Adios Amigoses

I hate the changes to the way the AI works not just because of farming but becasue a warrior can't even hold arrgo anymore.

I realyl could give less about farming sicne as long as smites drop ecto i'll be able to farm but I have to say I do miss the old days when you could make 60-100k a day just killing minos.

If ch.4 doesn't change anything to make money easyer to get, or add things to make game funner (aka, dungeons like SF and ToPK or large hard to kill bosses that drop items worth money like Rot Wing) theres not much point left in the game but PvP and helping newbs. There now i'm done.

eh I read about halfway thru and I agreed with most of it (which is why I'm logged onto WoW right now). I was also a veteran of GW since around the 3rd month of its existence and now its gone through too many changes to count. I know everyone still likes it so I'm not saying their bad updates, just not ones I'd have chosen lol.

Good luck in your travels :D

Well, if this causes people who overreact, like you, to go, it is; in a mean way a good thing. When there is all the "w44444, my f4v 8u1|d h45 833n n3rf3d! 4|| 7h15 5u(k5!" (Translator rocks) topics on the forum, I think that those people would be better off playing bingo at the old folks home (No offense to the old folks). It really is annoying seeing how unadaptive people are!

And for a side note, many farming builds got a boost or didnt get affected at all, yet; this is a skill based game, not a grinding game but yet what is farming if not grinding. You want a grinding game, go play runescape.

/endrant.

I have no idea what you're talking about, but Nightfall made getting cash pretty easy to get, especially if you cashed in on boss farming. To be honest, if you're finding it difficult to "make money fast" with a 100k a day comparison, I have NO idea what you're doing currently or what you were doing in the past. I have guild mates making 150k+ a day still, I still make roughly 75k a day when I can manage to get on for a full day. Current trick? Get more familiar with locations, map out certain ones, pay attention to the market and get lucky.

Now, this is just an assumption, but since you've made the comparison to minotars, I'm guessing you dont do UW or FoW or any of the other higher areas. If that is the case, no one said getting high ammounts of money should be easy, if that were the case, everyone would be rich and 1 million dollars would be the equivalent of 100k.

why do you want to get more money? To what end? How much do you need for the finest armor and coolest skins? Unless you want the rarest crystalline sword or something that ppl pay millions for, i just dont get it....

RE: Adios Amigoses

well im actually laughin at u (no offence)
in that i havnt played for about 6 months then came back at start of the year and found nightfall the most easiest thing i have ever played to make money and i cant stand farming yet ive had 4 characters with 15k (before i deleted them last year) all due to not farming and just playin the game.

i hate people moaning about stuff like this as every 1 that plays guildwars should know if somethin starts to get overused anet get rid of it to balance the system out.

i mean i started a paragon in nightfall and before i got to lvl 15 i had made over 15k just doing the quests and missions

I farm the UW plenty when am acualy has favor. In fact i'm probaly the only one in Gameamp Guides who commonly wants to farm the high end areas so I really would keep my mouth shut and not make assumsions unless you know me. And to UC: for people trying to play two games, looking at another one in beta and trying to live their lives, it is hard to make the amount of money you need for FoW armor now.

I already said it was simple assumption, I'd appreciate it if you didn't resort to flaming.

Regardless, if that is the case, how are you NOT making money? I too use similar areas and 75k is fairly easy, and I'm a casual player. Different methods plus but same areas, shouldn't equate to a hugely different yield. My time line is about 6 hours for a 75k yield (with decent, but not great, drops) in terms of average pricing. So, in the end I'll make around 55k-65k because I'm an impatient seller.

RE: Adios Amigoses

I've been around since the beginning of GW, was fun, now I only hop on once in awhile (couple times a week) to do a little PvP. I didn't buy NF and won't buy anymore. I'm not really a big fan of drawing out sequels, usually goes down the hole. They just milk it for what it's worth. I'd much rather see a new game created by the same people, not really an expansion...because they need to rebuild, not update. Now, here is my suggestion to those that have basically stopped playing GW as religiously as you once did...

I have picked up Vanguard: Saga of Heroes...as of 3 days of playing it (got preorder), I'd have to say I'm very impressed. I played some of the original EQ1...played a bit of EQ2...have not played WOW...but I think this has the greatest potential for an awesome game. It is very much like the original EQ1, even has some of the same team members working on Vanguard. I would highly recommend picking it up. I know it's not free, but I don't have a whole lot of time to play myself, I just pay for the months that I know I'll have a decent amount of time. But it's been very fun so far.

Well first it wasn't a flame and if you saw it as one i'm sorry. And second I do make money but I also spend it on skills, runes, dyes and of course weapons.

Kinda off topic...but I'd very much like to see your definition of a 'casual player'...I consider myself a casual player. I've played since beta, never beat prof. until 1.5 years after it was released, never have had over 250k, and I never buy anything. 75k a day for a casual player...I think not.

RE: Adios Amigoses

By casual player I mean, on average I'll play a maximum of 1 hour and a half every second day. I did, however play much more often, unfortunately for me, a small blip, in the form of a future baby boy appeared and as such, work, school and everything else became that much bigger in my picture. As compared to my 2 hours every day kinda jazz. Currently, this week, I have yet to log in to Guild Wars for more than an hour and 45 minutes. I do, however, manage to make 6 hours on a random day, depending on the situation and my plans. That 75k is my form of a "day" in Guild Wars (6 hours, 7 hours tops) ^^

Anyways, no harm no foul, my point was simply that money isn't very hard to come by (if you know how to), and unfortunately, as you've proven, the more ambitious the player, the thinner money gets. Anyways, the silver lining for you may be the fact that there are only so many skills to purchase, eventually you'll manage them all :O

The only problem I have now is the deletion of "evade." What is the point of that, ya know? Skills like Sun and Moon Slash can now strike anything twice...it's pretty "meh."

Other than that, the changes they've made to some skills are great.

oh, well I cant quite see it they made some of the less used skills better some of the over used skills worse one thing made me wonder they changed the traps to reflect how much damage they actually do. I noticed people complaining about how they nerfed them... They still actually do the same ammount of damage. if you read the update top to bottom. they dont just take away allot of skill are being made easyer to use and they sped some of the skills up. well I wish you the best my advise give it a few months and come back have another go. try some other games perhaps. most important have fun what ever you do.

I didn't need a translator, and I read it at normal speed.... I think I have a problem.

i only got "my favorite build has been nerfed!" from that >.<

anyway...back to topic. i think its stupid to quit just because of a few updates. you going to see that in EVERY mmorpg you go to anyway.

RE: Adios Amigoses

Cool, as i thought all this thread flames me for my opinion on this game THAT I LOVED, it's just that farming hours to get stuff like a job in RL, it's kinda the suck...At least some of you understands me. Ok maybe, nightfall bringed an easier of making money, well good for you, I finished it 3 times and now I regret buying it. My love of this game was so huge that i played even if it was boring, now I just cant stand it. Go play WoW you money freaks, I want a game that I'll be able to have fun without doing the same damn thing that I do in rl: work and buy clothes.

Edit: Erased part about how i hate you all who talked me down

I think you can compare it to football.. its awesome tho being tackled hard isnt nice.. or spit in the face or whatever nasty stuff happens.. yet you love the game. :)

Wow, Anet did do a great job changing skills, HoH needed to be changed, the same builds were over used

imo halls idnt need to be fixed, it was perfect the way it was. i know 15 people who went to go play wow because anet fucked up ha and gvg.. and i might also, anet justloves to piss people off and like to change everything people like, imo anet is the worst company we could have but w/e 100s of people i know have sent rage emails to anet about it, so hopefully all of the things will be changed back
