| Great way to farm pre-searing |
|
|
|
Good afternoon :)
Ok, so i started again and decided that i liked monk so much that i would makeit my primary. Now, i am wanting to make this into a 55hp Monk, so, i thought Warrior would be the obvious choice to take, because of Bonetti's Defense.
So i did a few quests and checked out this site (which im fast falling in love with), and i got the general feel that Necromancer would be a nice choice for secondary too, so i figured, what the hell, and took necro.
Best decision ever. It is a fantastic secondary for monk. They compliment each other so well.
Anyways, i believe i promise a good way to farm pre-searing. You will all have heard this before and no doubt tried it but ive not seen any guides using this tactic before.
So, what you need is:
- One Monk
- I figure ANY secondary will do, maybe even any primary. (as long as it has monk secondary).
- The quest Bandit Raid started from Baron Egan in Ascalon.
- The quest Protection Prayers started from Grazden the protecter in Lakeside County.
- The insightful soul shrieker you get from the bonus items when you buy GW.
I know using the insightful soul shrieker is a bit of a swizz, but, its gives you +15 energy, which is fairly valuable wherever you are.
When you have these things, make sure you have the following skills equipped.
- Healing Breeze.
- Shielding hands
- Symbol of Wrath
- Bane Signet
If you too my advice and choose necro aswell, have these skills.
- Blood Renewal
- Deathly Swarm
- Vampiric Touch
(if anyone finds better uses of other classes skills, then please feel free to mention it.)
Well, i think thats everything.
So, what we do now is get to Ashford Abbey and north-east until you see bandits, now, there will be alot, but dont panic, you will be safe.
As you are running in cast Shielding Hands on yourself, now while the effect of shielding hands is in motion quickly cast Blood Renewal and Healing Breeze on yourself, now, even on low stats this gives you +5 health regen, which is awesome, keep this up and you wont take much damage.
To kill all the bandits, use Symbol of Wrath and Bane Signet, also, when the enemy is low on helath, use deathly swarm to finish them off (this will work even when they decide to run away from symbol of wrath).
Now once you have killed the main group (with Alain and all the blood sworns), there are 2 groups of about 4 Bandits raiders just in the direction of where Farrah Cappo is. Repeat the process above and you will quickly: level and gain lovely drops.
I came prepared and got a screenie for you all. This is what i accumulated in about an hour of farming.
Anyways guys, thanks for reading, i know it's a bit long, but its worth it. Yes there are probably some repeats of this guide elsewhere but i didnt find any.
Take care, hope this helps someone somewhere.
Pen.
Edit:
By the way, don't complete those two quests until you are finished farming, this may seem obvious, but i figure i should mention it anyways just to be safe.
Thanks again.

Nice way to farm pre
But, i want to add few suggestions - post update Deathly Swarm
is VERY strong, on level 5-6 in death magic it kills all PRE devours with one hit (this means 3 devours in one cast), on higher levels in death magic you'll kill almost any lvl 3 and less creature (exept undead) in two hits
Also i suggest to buy 7 armor (without reqs)purple shield with
-2 damage while enchanted. It drops in northlands quite often,
but people usually sell it to merchant.
But still i think MM is best for anything in PRE
(by the way, im not sure u can get deathly swarm with secondary N)
Soon... Or never.

One question, why do people want to farm Pre-searing of all places? I mean, cmon, theres more than enough places to farm Post- Searing with better drops etc? Anyways, good build though :D Cept, relies too much on the CE edition (which not many people have)
"The worst crimes aren't commited by the body, they're invented in the mind. The urge to kill is the purest evil and supressing it only lasts so long..."

You do get deathly swarm with necro as secondary.
And yes Deathly Swarm is a great move for pre-searing farming.
However, the only enchantment you get pre-searing is retribution which is a waste of time to cast if you are farming bandits as they do not do enough damage to make retribution worth while.
But thanks for the added views and opinions, more would be awesome.

PiousDevil - in my experience on Guild Wars, dyes are dropped far more frequently in pre-Searing than in post searing, especially by the bandits. Take a look at the link i posted on my build to see.
Anyways, about the whole insightful soul shreiker thing. You could definatly do this build without it, i just thought that everyone had access to these free weapons. anwyays, to make this build effective without the soul shreiker you will need to do without vampiric touch. As this is 15 energy per go.
Also, you get some weapons and offhands that give up to +5 energy, like the one Necromancer Munne gives you.
I dont think my build relies too much on the CE edition, just that it would help to have the +15 energy.

Overall,
Kudos on a logical approach to character tatics, however blood renewal can be dangerous skill to use against multiple foes (for you that is). Your character would have to be a level 8 or higher to pull this off without dying. Blood renewal lowers your maxium health despite the regen effect. if you take too much damage while your health drop this could backfire. I would recommend life siphon/or vampric touch to begin with and as you get a higher level than switch to blood renewal.
as for dye drops, switch areas from time to time. Somehow the games puts a cap on an area you frequent too often. I like to run the entire catacombs! Then run the entire fobles fair from the ice cave down to the river where the scale are. Talk about a full inventory.
Make sure when your farming to get a Charr Bag! These are dropped by the Charr Boss North of the Wall. (This has been probably posted somewhere in this forum- but ill keep repeating it.)

an E secondary would be much better.
Skills:
Healing Breeze
Orison of Healing
Retribution
Glyph
Fire Storm
Wait for them to surround you, after you had casted retribution. use the glyph, and cast fire storm. this kills them, and retribtution will kill any survivors.

THE absolute best combo is E/Mo
Shielding hands
Glyph of Lesser Energy
Firestorm
Symbol of Wrath
This is really ownage. Just work it on the bandits as well, aggro all of them at once and make sure they all in the spot where you are, cast SH, GoLE, Firestorm, SoW
