Ok another thought I had while sitting at work trying to decipher the shapes made when paint chips off the wall is what can you get from task force missions. I see you get xp, and usually a certain lvl SO Enhancement, but what else can you get? Are there any unique task forces for special items in the game. I have read the task forces we have linked on the site, but was wondering if that was all there are? I am getting to the point where I want to try one of these.

If you get lucky and get on a good TF team, it is a blast of xp, a nifty gift at the end and a badge of honor in your collection.
If you play your cards right...you can get at least 1, maybe 2 levels out of a good TF.
So far my fave TF is the Sister Pysche TF.

To my understanding, there are only the gifts of enhancements (appropriate to your level) and badges. Not to mention gobs of xp (plus debt, I've only run one TF where I never died) and fun.
They take a long time to complete. And, finding a team that will stay the course is a challenge. You may be better off trying to organize thru an SG or friends. On average, I would say at least 3 hours. Depending on TF and what abilities each member has.
Respec trials, or just trials (i.e. Sewer) give other rewards, like a respec option.
Regardless, the freebie SO is nice; but I think maybe it should be more. Running a TF for an SO is almost silly, when it is cheaper and far less time consuming to buy from your contacts. Not to mention, the higher you are, the more often baddies drop them.
Maybe they'll take that into account.... free weapon? Like the Crey badge?

I agree. I want more after spending so much time often encountering the same villians. I have a short attention span as it is (ADD) so I don't handle monotony so well unless I have a real good motivation. Sure the XP is great, but I can do mish's or hunt to get XP. I'm not much of a badge collector, so there's little motivation there also. Respec trial, tailor mish, cape mish, aura mish...I want to see more things of this nature, where there is a more tangible reward than xp, a badge, and a SO.
How about a task force where you get 1 free enhancement slot? If this task force was for low level heroes, it would be great for adding a little more power. Its only 1 enhancement slot, and you would only be able to get this reward once.
I had an idea for a solo-task force too. It would be a timed mish (or maybe series of mish's) so you would be forced to complete it all at once. The storyline would be unique for your origin, so each origin would have different villians, differnet mish's, etc. And at the end of the solo-task force, you were awarded either 1 free enhancment slot, or 1 free power from the Pool Powers sets.
Just some ideas I had. Anyone else have any ideas for Task Force freebies?

When City of Villains comes out, I'd like to see SG souviniers that could be placed inside the base. Maybe a deactivated Zenith Mech from Bastion's TF, or Babbage's head from Synapse's.

Hummm,
Yes, finding a good team is the most paramount of all for a TF. Given their length of up to 5 hours a firm commitmant by all members is needed. Most pickup teams I've been on crumble rather quickly. {I spent over 5 hours doing Sister Psyche only to have most of the team bail on the final mission. Leaving Whim and another controller alone to face the final boss. It wasn't pretty, but it sure was quick!}
And yes, certain TF will get you an item, like the Crey Pistol, but that is mostly for the upper eschlon folks 40+. {grin}

just wanted to let everyone know the soon to be prize for completeing task forces: access to a new AT... that is one of the ways the plan on having TF as a way to unlock certain ones
also i would like to mention i've only done TF's w/ pick up teams... and have learned that you can duo a TF, you can even solo a TF as long as the people drop b/f you enter the mission... a friend of mine enjoys soloing them, he just gets people to "hold" the spaces while he starts it then he has them quit and he is off on his own... the missions will spawn for size, and if you don't have a lot of time, you can log out while on a TF and when you log back in you will still be on it so you can take you time (of course you cannot do any other missions while on it, but hey you should be doing those missions so it isn't a big deal)

Stupid noobie question: How do you get to do a tf mish and how many should you have on a team? I have found that on regular mish 3-4 people is the perfect number of people.
Glasher - Level 50 Ice/bubbles controller
Flaming Rage - level 50 Fire/Invul tanker
Realm Walker - Level 40 MA/SR scrapper
Greshan - Level 29 Peace Bringer
Greffarr - Level 24 Warshade
Lin-Ki - MA/Invul scrapper Level 28 Gameamp SG
Acrtic Hurricane - Ice/storm controller Level 21 Game SG

I think you need to have 4 people to do a Task Force. You go to the various task force contacts (Positron, for example) and do it. Go to the CoH Task Force section (left navigation bar on this site) and it explains a lot of the info you need.
Good luck! I need to work on getting my enhancement and such for my blasters right now. After that I'll get to doing a task force.
City of Heroes/Villains
Onion - L50 - Katana/Super Reflexes/Body Mastery Scrapper
Scotch Bonnet Girl - L50 - Fire Aura/Fire Melee/Pyre Mastery Tanker
RonJ73 - L50 - Stone/Energy Aura Brute
Aurora Australis - L50 - Willpower/Energy Melee Tanker

Hey we all have to be newbies sometime. Honest questions though. Depending on the TF you are running the sizes can be from 3-4 or higher. We have a nice game info area where you can check out the details of the TF. I have only done one but in two different forms. Synapse back in the day used to be the WL'd of today. Some of us remember it was 3 missions. 1) Check 5 locations (steel canyon) 2) 30 clocks in Perez 3) Finally if I remember you delivered something to Positron. I think that was final mission. You would get about 500 to 1000 xp when done. You could do this for a couple of hours and get alot of levels fast. Well the devs put end to that and made the TF alot tougher and longer. Anyways back on point, Check out this link to the Gameamp Game info on task force. Hope this helps.
