New Professions

In the next episode of Guild Wars, whats the next 2 new professions or changes would you like to see?

First off, I would like to see the ability to pick a race, like Charr or Tengu. It would put more diversity into the game and a step up from everyone being the same. Can you image being a Charr W/Mo with a big sword and shield? Or a Tengu R/Mo runner? I think that would look pretty cool!

Also, I would like to see a profession that uses' Monster Skills. Not sure if you would have to cap all the abilities persay to get them, but like a Monster Hunter Profession that uses Monster skills. Toned down of course, because having all of say Glints skills would make you too L33T to play the game. So maybe toned down versions of pre-existing Monster Skills.

What say you?

RE: New Professions

I have thought about the idea that you can pick your class, but then the game would be more like WOW or other RPGs and i like how Guild Wars is now.

Thought it would b cool.

RE: New Professions

what i would like to see is something like the blue mage in FFXI where u can cap special monster skills from monsters. i would only like to see new races as their own class, so u cant have, say a Char rit that would make no sense. i think you should be able to play tengu and the forgotten, maybe nagas

Hand of Blood Lvl X Spines/Regen Stalker...Triumph
Mystic Entity lvl 24 Katana/Regen Scrapper...Champion
Panzer Faust Lvl 23 SS/Energy Brute (retired)...Protector

I also wouldnt mind if they didnt add any new profs.. im quite happy with the current ones at the moment

But if the do add new prefessions i really want to see some new spellcasters
from all the four new prefessions only the ritualist is a spellcaster, i would really like to see some more damage dealing spells professions

RE: New Professions

maybe there well be a gardner that plants magical trees and stuff.

lol their weapons will be liek shovels to dig and plant seeds

*grows an apple tree for the whole team that gives 100hp when you eat it

*makes walls out of trees that blocks swords and arrows but defenceless to fire damage

*throw a seed that acts like a parasite and suck foes health out or weaken armor or slow them down

*throw a seed to target ally's armor and grants/grows a buff or adventage (more armor..immune to something i donno)

i donno thats my idea :p

RE: New Professions

Being a char is not do-able. If there even will be other playabel races it wont be a race which is evil. Sine then it would be very difficult to combine with the other story lines. (I do hope the next campaign involves the charr)

So you guys its best to forget being mursaat or charr or something, the races that would do-able are probably the tengu and the dwarfs. I personally have absolutely NO clue wtf Anet is gonna bring us with the new campaign.

I can't really think of any new profession ideas, But about the races, i DO hope they r gonna make campaigns who connect all guild wars maps to eachother to form 1 big world which would also save map travel:P

:P

Rebel charr? Heretic mursaat?
Traitors and nuetral characters could be new races. A list of sentient species that could be made into palyable races.

dwarves-obvious

Charr-traitors? there could be neutral charrs that arent involved in the war

Centars-Good and bad centar

forgotten-There are good and bad forgotten

Mursaat-Heretical mursaat,rebels,Holy mursaat race(similar to high elves)

Tengu-obvious

naga-Some of them could be nice you don't know

Dredge-obvious

Margonites-Traitors heretics rebels holy margonites9similar to mursaat)

RE: New Professions

I was thinking thw other day of new professions. What would be really cool is a blowdart type guy. The special attrb could make your conditions last 1 second longer for each 2 ranks.

They wouldnt be a dmg dealing class, but they could have lots of condition inflicting skills (i.e. poison dart, weakening dart..)

Anet could even add some new conditions like every second you take 20 dmg for 1...8 seconds. They could also put points in dart mastery. Rather than increase dmg, it would increase the movement speed of your darts.

Anyway, its just an idea for a new prof... I doubt the next campaign will let us play as a different race.

RE: New Professions

One profession I've been thinking about would be like this. Imagine a profession who's Primary attribute would be to mimic his secondary's primary attribute. Let's say he is an arcanist type of profession. We'll call it "Arcanist".

Attributes:
1. Arcane Mastery (Ability to use other professions' Primaries.
2. Dark Magic (Spells that deal damage or steal life etc.)
3. Light Magic (Speals that protect or heal, etc.)
3. Shadow Magic (attribute boosting abilities for party members etc.)

My main thing is the Arcane Mastery. The other 3 magic attributes I had to make up just now, just to make the profession seem more in place. Say our Arcanist uses monk secondary.

Ar/Mo

So his primary attribute will be Divine Favor
Any level it's at (1-16 using runes and head piece along with putting points into that mastery) will be just like having Divine favor at (1-16). With me so far?

Ar/N
Now his primary will be Soul Reaping. and so on.

I think this would be a good profession with some improvements on the other attributes. This would actually make the Dervishes' Elite Forms actually usable for more than 15 seconds unless your a Primary Dervish. Every other profession, a 15 second elite that will have a 120 second cooldown is plain moot.

Lol this at first sounded kinda wacky to me dude, but after giving some thought, this could be a viable profession. Let him be a spellcaster type, using wands and staffs, instead of shovels lol. instead of perhaps planting an apple tree "of life", he could say be a minion master type guy. He could "plant" a seed and raise a tree being from the ground. No perhaps this, When someone dies, he uses their spirit to create a tree being, but this tree being won't have as fast a degen as the necro's minions. Something along those lines.

RE: New Professions

from what i have heard and read in other areas in my travels, the next Guild Wars game maybe be annouced or heard from sometime in April (Anet likes to go on 6 months Cycles) From what I have heard in leaks, it will take place on another continent much like Antiartica. So if you like Shiver Peaks and Winter's Day, this will be up your ally.

Going back to professions, I like those ideas too!

The Blue Mage is exactly what I was thinking about for the Monster Skills deal

Someone else also thought of Druid... the only deal is that they would have to make sure to make it different then a R/E with earth magic.

Arcanist is another nice one. There as been 3 Warrior add-ons but only 1 Spell User (Rit). But as for skills go, I would like to see that light area expanded on.... Smitie Monkeys are fun and all, but the recharge times are horriable.... if it has a good AOE and "Flare" kinda spells i would make it more worth while.

As for wanting "changes" to the game... no, I love GW and its the only game I play now. Its bad enough dealing with Anets "upgrades" to the skills this past week... and not happy about it too... i miss my Rez Chant..... but I digress... and say that additions made to build more charactors is what i like to see. And no, I dont want it feeling like WoW... but I would like to see more then just Humans, Humans, and more humans.

Races, ya, there have been evil and good Tengu, Centars and Dwarves... so why cant there be a good Charr?

Also, to stir the pot up some more... what about a Gun Mage or a weapons tech? Like an auto crossbow or single shot pistol/rifle that shoots slow?

RE: New Professions

What happened to our beloved rez chant?

As far as a weapons tech, that would sound like more of an upgrade for our current weapons than a profession. I doubt that They will be introducing any new era weapons anytime soon. As far as other weapons, I could see some kind of ball and chain wielding barbarian type meleer or something along that line. I dunno, even creative minds will run out ideas without repeating professions under a different name with a few different attributes and skills.

RE: New Professions

I wouldn't wnna play as another class. If they were to do it, I don't think the game would be as appealing to me anymore. I can't name exactly why, but I just don't want Guild Wars to go that way. I like it playing as a human. It makes me feel more a part of my character and as though I'm...I dunno, I like it better tho. I wouldn't play as a Forgotten, or Charr (tho they are cool).
If Guild Wars keeps coming out with new professions, then there will be too many! So they should find a new way to add something. Maybe about 2 more professions would satisfy me, but any more is ludicrous.
If I were to play as a Charr, that would totally contradict with storylines, and it would make me feel ONE with an enemy I've grown to hate. I don't think it would help my gaming experience. Now, if you could be a HUMAN and get a kind of charr OUTFIT to mock them, that'd be sweet. Ora Forgotten suit...like for a holiday. that'd be hecka tight: You could pick a kind of suit. I might get a charr suit. Or Mursaat. But No, I don't wanna paly as another race.
(Hey Anet, make a festival where you can get suits of the enemies in the game!)

Sorry, but I don't really like the ideas listed here. I just like being a human. Does anyone else feel this way?

WE SHOULD NOT SHED TEARS,
THAT IS A SURRENDER oF THE BODy TO THE HEART,
IT IS ONLY PROOF,
THAT WE ARE BEINGS THAT DO NOT KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH OUR HEARTS...

personally I would not like to see any more professions for now. maybe new races and new skills, but no new professions.
Nightfall screwed up PVP as it is and I think that Anet needs to spend some time to balance that expantion before they release new professions.

Went from 15/8 with no recharge to 15/6/15... i kinda liked the no recharge... now it takes longer to rez multiple people. (was 8, now 21)

But come on... you wouldn't want to have this as a Warrior charactor?

Being a Wolf kinda guy at heart (note name and Avitar... hint hint) I would kill to have that as a charactor and forget all my other 8 peeps I have.

ooo i like the whip idea... espcially for that monster skill user. 2 weapons mods, Tail and Grip. So a Sundering Tail and a Fortitude Grip on a whip... Minty! But whats the damage? Slashing? Piercing?
