Maybe some day there will be a cartoon show of guild wars or something.
I don't think a movie would be very good since you travel a lot so the scenes would be huge. So a cartoon or show would work better having a mission or quest being each episode.
Just my opinion but heck, I'm only 1 person.
Made for another forum I go on, Just felt the need to do something with this sig.

You would have thought they would have done a book deal by now, considering there is a solid storyline with extras in Tyria.....plus WoW have done well with a book series, and they aren't even that well written.

i agree with the book idea, GW is the perfect game for a book due to the incredible story lines they alrdy present, if they were making money off the story alone i'd guess there storys wud get better and better as the first one prophicies amazed us. movie on the other hand wud be bad in my opinion and ruin the concept of GW as many other games making the transfer to movie such as doom, was a great game but the movie was terrible. as for a cartoon/comic of GW id hope not, a novel is the only way i can see the story to GW really working.

You are right in that they have done graphic novels, but I was referring to text novels. I've flicked through a couple and they were about Orcs.

I only know that the manuals contain some small stories, plus the article section here hosts a few good ones, even im writing fictional stuff still related with Guild Wars, but i doubt you'd like to read it since its mostly focused about fictional stuff with the guild, not as much as the ''big'' picture with Mhenlo, and all the other associated heroes.

As far as I know, no guild wars books/movies are in the making/have been released. However, the manuscripts of guild wars prophecies Include a really cool story about Mhenlo, Devona, Cynn and Aiden doing the Nolani Academy mission.
And If you want more to read/see, The collector's Editions of each chapter contain artwork books, which I've heard are pretty cool.
I also agree with Health_kill that a cartoon of guild wars would be awesome, only I'm afraid it will be made for kids, and therefor would be very childish:/ A digitally animated Movie would be superb, but these days the special effects are soo good, might as well make a real movie with a lot of bluescreening ;)
The only movie I'm looking forward 2 atm is Hitman (Codename 47) Too bad though Vin Diesel will be playing Hitman.. hes cool as Riddick and I think he owns, but Jason statham would have been a much better choice, he even resembles codename 47! (only need to stamp a big Pin code on the back of his head)
-EDIT- Vin diesel won't be playing the role of codename 47, Timothy Olyphant will be playing codename 47. Vin diesel didn't want the role any more so they gave it to some1 else. Also good news: At the end of this year the movie will be in cinema's, and the movie will be directed by LUC BESSON, which is a VERY good director. -EDIT-

The game is already childish, you don't really see anything really mature other than minions rising from dead bodies but then there should be guts and blood all over the place because its like a freaken minion bursting out of a body!
So this game is already for children having lack of blood and guts, other then the walking guts we call as minions.
Made for another forum I go on, Just felt the need to do something with this sig.

Yep, sometimes i'd wish they had an option to turn blood & Gore on, it makes no sense in slashing my scythe through people and no blood appears :P (am i fighting illusions?)

The reason they do this is to make guild wars available to a wide audience, including yes, children.
I just don't see how you call this game childish:S
I know people (with lives:P) who are above 30 and still playing guild wars.
I can see if you think it's missing blood and gore, which I would like to see aswell, But it's not that childish.
Then you couldn't kill enemies, had a lot of missions like consulate docks without cinematics where peoples eyes are eaten out, then you wouldn't hear the kournans talking about killing civilians, etc etc.
The game is indd not as hard as reality, but this is just to increase the audience of people wanting to play it so guild wars gets more players and Anet gets more $ ^^

Peoples eyes eaten out? were did you see that in Guild Wars? Consulate Docks??? Eyes out? wow, i think either one of us had to smoke some serious stuff to see that, since i only see Kormir fall down and the back of her head being stroked by some random demon, no eyes being torn out... (atleast they lack some serious effects with it)
And no, i never said its childish, i just mean to imply just like some other games (like unreal) to have some sort of option to turn blood & gore on, yeah, ain't going to happen, im used to it in the first place, but i was just saying while people were on the subject :P
Killing enemies...oh cmon, even 3 year olds that learn how to play on a gameboy have to kill some turtles or get evul monsters out of their way, might not contain blood or explecit violence, but its still killing something.
And if even the youngest generation already knows games were you have to defeat opponents with some sort of violence, then Guild Wars isn't that high with violence after all...
UNLESS, you live in Germany, since within a year or so, games with violence are for 18 and older, and explicit violence might even be banned.

Jeez thats nothing compared to me, i usually threaten my PC (and not ze screen) with: Lé bucké o' watur. Da big concrete slab o doom. Or any other kinds of weaponry which electronics don't like, it really starts to hate all organic life on earth, so if machines take over the world, im to blaim *bows head in shame* BUT I WONT STOP *lets water drip slowly on the motherboard as PC loads to extremes*

If anything, they should make a GW that is similar to RvB {Red vs Blue}, that is about two guilds - one is a more organized group, and the other is... not. And they do random things (similarly to RvB) but has an actual story line to follow.
But thats just me.

To be honest, that would just be another ripoff of a great idea of a series allready in existance, only this time with Guild wars chars, why not use stickfigures, they can resemble any character? :P
