hey all,

yesterday some dude (*name removed*) scammed me in doa. he took my titan gem when it became unnassigned. (i was still behind the gate was ele, he was tank).

i took enuf screens to kill some1 :S, and send em to ANet, well the mail server send me an automated email pretty soon, a day later i got this:

"Thank you very much for contacting the Guild Wars Customer Support Team.

I'm afraid that as detailed by my colleague, occasionally a player will go back on an agreement or act in a less-than-honest manner. Unfortunately, such acts are outside of our control and we are unable to take corrective measures. If a player does not live up to his or her end of an agreement, we are unable to force that player to do so - we apologise for any frustration or inconvenience that this may cause.

However, if we find that a player has violated the Terms of Service or Rules of Conduct (http://eu.guildwars.com/support/category/listing/legal/), we will take the necessary and appropriate actions against that player. Unfortunately, we cannot divulge any actions that may have been taken against other players' accounts, due to our privacy policy. Again, we apologise for any frustration that this may cause.

If you have additional questions please let us know.

what is this??? omg, this dosnt help me whatsoever.

if the only thing thay do about scammers is send an automated mail to the victim then i might aswell go scam evry1 -_-.

Without some evidence we don't allow the naming of scammers on the site, we don't want to run the risk of someone being falsely accused.

It wasn't a scam.

The item legitimately became available for all players to pick up.

He didn't trick you or coerce you, he just picked up an item that wasn't yours anymore.

Sorry about your loss, but it wasn't a scam.

True but still is very dishonest.

There has been plenty of times items drop for other players who can't pick it up cause their dead and I will pick it up for them and when they are alive will give it to them.

He could not get to the item to pick it up so did not have a chance to even get the item or discard it. But even with that e-mail back from support. They did say he did violate the TOS.

Most likely hindering the game play experience for other players, account will be most likely get flagged to be watched.

I had something like that happen to me before.A gold item droped for me and i died while finishing the group off.Then everyone quit except one person,who then ran back through the whole area we cleared picking up items.I begged him to rez,die or quit so i could get my stuff.But it didnt happen.Oh well,it may not be a scam but its just another reason this MMORPG has been getting to be more like a single player game in PVE since PUG's become more and more of a problem.Atleast my heros are more trust worthy.

not that a scammers word means anything ( didnt know him at that time) but i i have te screens and he said:

ryth aglina: yay
ryth aglina: pls pick up my gem dantai when i get unnassigned to me and hand it to me ltr
******: sure i give it to u after gate opens, u have my word
ryth aglina: ty vm

ryth = me
couple of mins ltr

****** picks up a titan gemstone
****** has left the game!

well thats a scam if u ask me. firt promissing it to me then pick up and leave.

not only did i loose 90k in 1 second but our team was ****** also

this is the lateds mail from ANet

Its messed up and plain usless yes, but not much you can do now and to bad for you, its not a scam and he can't get banned for it. If you want good support go play WoW, if you get hacked sometimes blizzard acualy give your items back lol, atleast what i've heard...

When I was in ToPK once, we killed all the Darknesses, and the whole team cept me died ... I could have gone and taken all the greens, but instead I ressed everybody and they all got their greens (and I didnt get anything) ... yea I know, its a dream for others to do that, but there is more to life than greed ... (also all of victos stuff dropped, and it was back when Bulwark was like 120k etc) ... so yea ... you get the idea

Well i do hope in the case someone ever hacks a Guild Wars account and deletes all players we can expect the same treatment, they can easily see the IP of the other user, i had a friend who's account was hacked (he just had, the dumbest Pass ever) all his characters were gone, sadly he was so pissed that he didn't listen to me to report it, but i still wonder, incase this ever happens, can we get our account back like it was just BEFORE everything went to hell?

I'm not saying that it wasn't unethical at all, I personally wish that whoever that was would get the pulp beaten out of him.

But Anet's hands can be somewhat tied. They were the ones that set the time limit on an item's availability.

Here's how Anet can solve all these types of issues:

Items automatically go to your inventory.

If your inventory is full, it will appear in that "unclaimed items" window that usually pops up after a mission. Then you can drop an unimportant item and pick up what you want.

If your inventory is full and your unclaimed items window is full, then it will drop as it does now.

[[[[OR]]]]

All your items drop as normal, but there is a new window that lists all your items in that zone that have dropped. You can click on an item and accept it, or go to the bottom and 'Accept All'.

If you accept all, the items will be deposited into your inventory starting with the first item.

From what I've heard of other people, you get the account, but as it is.

The reasoning I've also heard is that if Anet wants to restore an account back to the way it was, they'd have to roll everyone in GW back to that point.

Pretty good thought cswella, I think something like that could work, especailly the second one. As long as it would be the actual (U) map and not the compass, because that could be overwhelming if everyone didnt pick up items.

Proof must be provided in the form of legitimate screenshots of the event if you are going to name a scammer, without proof there is always the possibility an innocent party could suffer.


Please refrain from naming scammers without adequate proof.

Hmm, i can't see a real scam here, yes the item was reserved for someone else, and he was just waiting to take it, quite unfair, but i doubt its considered ''scamming'' (il check into the finer things later on soz)

Lol, good that most won't understand what that person in all chat is saying, its dutch and... quite a vocabulary at that moment :P
