I'm sure that you get plenty of these requests but does anyone possibly have a trial key to spare?
I've recently started looking into the game and from what I can tell, it looks great. The problem is that I don't have a massive inflow of money. Therefore, I would like to sample the game before actually dropping $50 + monthly fees. So, If anyone would be willing to give me a key, it would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Vyx and welcome to the Vanguard section of GameAmp and nice job on picking a rare and pleasing avatar. Unfortunately you are correct that the buddy keys are hard to come by. I am not sure and perhaps someone can speak to this but does the regular retail box version of the game come with a buddy key? I think a few of us do have some buddy keys but most of mine are reserved for my guildmates at this time. But lets shake the trees around here and see if some fruit drops to the ground. :)

Thanks for the bump anyway. I'm starting to see that the buddy keys are quite the commodity. I've been searching around endlessly trying to get one so that I can sample the game but to no avail. Hopefully some kind soul will come along that has an extra one. I really want to try the game out.
If at some time your ratio of trial keys to guild mates slants over to the trial keys side, I'll probably still be looking for one lol.

Can anyone tell me how I am supposed to know if I have keys to hand out?
What are the criteria, or if those are fuzzy, how do I know if I have a buddy key to pass out?
Give me that information and I'll gladly pass out such a key :-)

Digital Download doesn't come with any buddy trial keys. Regular box gets 1, the special edition gets 10. And as far as I know there are no "free trial" deals yet.

I have the Guild/Limited edition and have the 10 keys but was saving them for Skara members that are playing other games and thinking of coming to Vanguard. I might make a case for also sharing with folks on my friends list or at least a history on GameAmp. My heart goes out to folks wanting to try the game but if I gave my trial keys out to all that asked they would be gone very quickly. :( I do hope the Vanguard developers are just holding back on the trial program until the game is free of a few rough bumps that still exist. Then perhaps a 7 day free trial will become available which will still make the 10 day keys a bit of a valued commoditty to those that shelled out the big bucks for the limited edition.

What MMOG's (if any) have you played previously and what do you and don't you like? I'm sure we can help you out with any questions as well.

Except a vanguard trial key unfortunatly. :(

Previously I've played WoW and FF:XI. What I didn't like about WoW was that once you hit 60 (I quit before the expansion) basically the only thing there was to do was endgame instance. I don't have that kind of time anymore. I would just like to play causally in a good community.
I didn't like in FF:XI that after level ~10, you had to be in a party to do any leveling.
Overall, I really like how this game is setup from what I've read and it seems pretty fun.

A common complaint about WOW and one that Sigil specifically has tried to avoid with Vanguard. There's Raiding to be sure for those who want it, but it's not the only thing to do at the top. Nor does VG run the risk that you end up being forced into specific classes / builds for raiding as happens a lot with WOW.
From what I've seen so far (and I'm level 11 now) Vanguard is suited to both solo and team-play. Of course, soloing will mean you won't be able to do some team-play stuff but that's the choice you make when single-playing a massive-multiplayer game :-)
All in all, the world is large enough at launch to keep anyone interested for some time after hitting level cap. Longer even if you're not in a rush to be at the end of the game. I.e. not grinding by but sampling the mid-level content will keep you occupied for some time.
I've seen a few people complain there isn't enough to do in this game. Those people invariably chose to participate in but one of the four spheres and saw about 25% of one of the three continents flash by on their rush to 50. It all depends on how you intend to have fun with the game.

might not be a trial i wouldn't blame Vanguard. It stops most Plat/gold sellers that way. i just would like to try vanguard befor i go out and buy it hehe
