help this poor ol' blaster in PvP

I've get a lvl 35 energy/energy blaster that is heavily slotted for damage (as any blaster should be). This toon can deal some real punishment outside of melee range. I can't get enough of playing with this guy EXCEPT in PvP.

Now in the PvP zones I do pretty well in group battles. If you're a villain, I'm the one blasting you long range for some heavy damage followed up by some mid-range damage.

Now as a blaster, I can't expect to take much damage but once I get "held" in PvP, that seems to pretty much seal my fate. The "break frees" don't seem to work very well even when I pop 3 or 4 at the same time.

I've got a free respect to use and I was wondering if there is ANYTHING in the secondary pool set that would help me with these "holds"? It would be nice not to be confused/disoriented/daze/rooted, etc...all the time.

RE: help this poor ol' blaster in PvP

Hey man i PVp myself from time to time with my blasters. and with energy secondary i really can't think of anything that can help u "breakfree" i'm basically a tag team i have a healer buddy that tags with me but in BB i mainly one on one people. Its tuff being a blaster trying to PvP its better in groups. One word advice unless we pop yellows we can't see stalkers so it can get rough BUT a plus you have one of the strongest sets for Blasters. Mine is elec/elec i pick on brute mainly. Reduce there end by hit and run and steal it all to my self ((((insert evil laugh)))). But hang in there its fun to pick on MMs and Doms from long distances.

RE: help this poor ol' blaster in PvP

I have a level 37 energy/energy blaster. What I use as my defneses are:
Combat Jumping
Acrobatics
Hover
Stealth

This comination seems to work very well in PVE as well as PVP. You will still get held in PVP, but with these defenses I seem to dodge A LOT of attacks as well as holds. I have even dodged a few AS strikes as well. But being a blaster is hard in PVP without some kind of mez and hold protection. That is where acrobatics comes in. It is not going to make you un-holdable, but it will help you dodge a lot of holds and attacks. I use SJ to travel around in PVP zones and hover when I am ready to attack. While being stealthed you can hover right above them and blast them from a little closer range. I usually try to make my builds a good PVP build up to level 30. (For Sirens Call) That is my favorite PVP zone. That build should suit you well in PVE as well.

Flaming Rage - level 50 Fire/Invul tanker
Realm Walker - Level 40 MA/SR scrapper
Greshan - Level 29 Peace Bringer
Greffarr - Level 24 Warshade

Lin-Ki - MA/Invul scrapper Level 28 Gameamp SG
Acrtic Hurricane - Ice/storm controller Level 21 Game SG

RE: help this poor ol' blaster in PvP

I have a fire/fire lvl 50 blaster I built souly for PVP.

It don't have the nrg secondary but I own one and I have fought a million of them.

I understand what its like to get held. Fore a squishy it most likely = death. But theres ways around it.

Enrg/Enrg does have great damage. I don't like them because of the slow dps fire/fire has super high dps. But the Nrg secondary is awsome. The melee power of a stalker.

the trick is being able to play with out the fitness pool. I have seen very very few blaster builds that can servive with out it. But once you learn how to. You make room for a different pool power of your choice. I recomend fight, for weave. Weave matched with acro = high resistents to KB,hold, mezz, and the dreded AS attack. I tested this out in 1 on 1 arena with a scrapper, my blaster build had stelth+acro+weave and just about 80% of the time the stalker missed on his first atempt on AS attack. That is huge!! It took an aferage of 3 aplications of a hold depending on mag lvl mostly mag 3 or lower to actualy hit. If you want to have great sicsess in PVP take invis, fight, and SJ and you will have alot of protection from holds Invis will also give you the edge of a scrapper and give you the first hit on every one as long as they don't have + perseption.

But like I said if you don't watch your stamina will drain quick with all the toggles so you have to learn to play safe. Safe meaning have a set attack plan and a set evade plan for ever situation. Phase shift gives you a good intangable evade but THERE IS ABOUT A 2.5 SECOND DELAY on it from moment of click to moment of effect. So you have to watch your HP bar before you hit it. From the moment you hit it, it leaves your foe still time for about 1 more hit on you before it kicks in!.

Other then this, the name of the PVP game is tactics tactics tactics.
