Spines

So I'm thinking of trying Spines again. I've teamed with Spines of every flavor and they all seemed pretty effective. My first jaunt into this set was Spines/SR. I'm not opposed to trying that again, but I wanted opinions/pros & cons of the other options.

Spines tends to use a lot of Endurance, so a Spines/Regen might be a better bet.

I have a GAA character (RonJ) that's a Spines/Regen at level 18, he's pretty cool.

Spines/Regen is definately one of the most used skills sets by spines. The reason for this is because of the toggles, and the AoE powers cause for quite an end drain. With the regen set, you have the endurance regeneration to offset the massive energy cost, plus you have many non-toggle powers from the regen set, so you don't have to worry about being toggle heavy.

I knew Starwolf was gonna say Regen cause he's a hater of all other scrapper sets. J/K

And Mr./Mrs. Peace, I always get Stamina. Even with Regen. So no worries there.

Is Hasten needed/strongly encouraged?

I don't have it on mine, but then I'm not a big fan of hasten. Kinda like drugs, you get hooked on it and then can't get it when you need it the most. My attack chain on my level 23 spines/regen is fine. I am never without an attack power on him.

And really, I don't hate the other secondary power sets for scrappers. I just made a real swing at them last year and found regen is the best. I spent like 8 months trying DA, Invuln and SR, played them all up to at least level 16, and when on a whim I went back to one of my regen scrappers it was immediate to me that I'd been fighting with a handicap that wasn't necessary for 8 months. Invuln especially was a hard go.

i'd go for spines/invul if your a risk taker and like to be a badass, imo there funner and you can do more things with them. if you wanna play it safe so with regan.

my illusion kinetics, well he's on 25 atm but i dont have end problems, stamana isn't even 3 slotted, he might be drainin it then later in the higher lvls...but then i get transference so i don't care :)

Base looks not too bad, but you can skip out on Barb Swipe, its does pitiful dmg and takes too long to animate. And since Spines is all about cones and AoE's, I'd say use Energy Torrent for its cone instead of LBE.

Neither Energy Torrent or Laser Beam Eyes fits my concept that well to be honest. And I'd rather not have the KB of Energy Torrent. It does KB right?

Also, I'm not sure about Air Superiority.......

In my experience with Energy torrent on my tanker, it will mainly do knock DOWN, only KB on lower lvl targets. and I only reccomend Air Sup. cause it has better dmg and activation timing than Barb swipe.

I too have a spines/regen/body that absolutely dominates in PVP.

shoot me a tell if you need build advice, I suggest picking up assault and tactics since with spines/regen you'll have 2 toggles (the mez protection toggle and the quills toggle).. more perception and an extra 10% of damage never hurt anyone :P

In all honesty, I wasn't really looking to do another Regen just yet since I'm still working on my Dark/Regen, but if Spines/Regen is the way to go......so be it.
