Two things to start off with:
1) this is not confirmed by NCSoft nor Arenanet yet
2) Plz don't start crying/complaining/ranting before you know more ^^
Source: http://the-inquirer.net/
So... There will not be a chapter four, but a big addon released later on this year. You will have to own one of the 3 excisting campaigns to be able to play the addon
They are working on a GW2.. Which looks very promissing in my eyes.. This will be more of a real mmorpg with open area's and lots of new races, beta will start next year..
read the article of the link to find out more
Once again, this is not confirmed by arenanet nor ncsoft yet =) So don't shoot me if it isn't true ^^

Ha, that's an funny place to find anything. At the very least, they based their speculation on a real statement that Nightfall was the end of a sort of trilogy. I would not be surprised to see the next release more of an expansion than a chapter, and beginning a whole new premise apart from the one which has permeated the first three.
The whole playable races thing, however, I would say is just a huge pile of *kittens*.
EDIT: reread; They were talking about two different products? Now that's just silly. Game engine updates have come with each chapter. Unless they're going to OpenGL and developing across platforms, there wouldn't be any reason to make a second game, (and thus put added time and money into servers and such), just for prettier graphics.

| QUOTE | NCSOFT HAS ANNOUNCED the development and release dates for regular annual expansion of Guild Wars universe, and not too surprisingly, that this expansion will be the last throw of the dice before its successor appears on the market.
The add-on will be known as Eye of the North, and stands to be released in Q3 of 2007. The price of the add-on is not known at the time of annoucement, but it will be less than already present campaigns. In order to play the game, gamers must own at least one of the already released GW campaigns, like Nightfall, Factions or Prophecies.
Eye of the North brings a conclusion what happened in Tyria after Guild Wars: Prophecies ended, and as such - is 100% oriented towards games with characters of maximum level. We know GW gamers want the numbers, so here they are: 18 new multi-level dungeons, 40 new armour sets, 10 new Heroes and massive 150 new skills, out of which 50 belong only to PvE (Player versus Enviroment).
On the other hand, there are Guild Wars 2. This is a full sequel and will be released in 2009-10 timeframe, with a public beta being released sometime next year. This game will be set several hundred years after GW: Prophecies and Eye of the North, but the main drool factor will be zone-wide events (read, open war in DaoC and Alterac Valley style), combined with refined control system, oriented for action and ease of use. Playable races include Humans, Charr, Norns, Asurians and Sylvarians. Level cap is set, but it is not known at the time, while characters will now progress through the game in a more sensitive way.
The graphics engine will be brought up to date with latest graphics developments in 2009-10, so you can expect a game engine which will offer unrivalled graphics features in world of MMOs.
NCSoft's roadmap now should be pretty clear, as far as GW world is concerned: GW1 add-on, GW2 public beta, GW2 final. Next 18 months will be very busy for these guys. µ |

Basicly if you own 1 chapter then you get an in game update called "Eye Of The North" so you don't buy. And in 2009-10 their will be Guild Wars 2 that will play 100 years after GW1 and you can play with chars and other class.
I hope you will play with your other characthers to

Skills only available to PvE? Sounds interesting.
Wondering if they're gonna start making more divergent paths for pve and pvp?

There is suppose to be something major coming, rather it is a new campaign "expansion" or whatever, time will tell. There should be something in next months PCGamer, which I will gladly share with the community when I get it. :) But as for this article, I'll have to beleive it when it is made official.

its seems kind of unbelieveable that a-net should go out with information for 2 years forward?
and that you can be able to pick a race ...
i always thought guild wars was a little different because u couldnt choose a race but i thought it was better.
maby someone could check if its true by talking to gaile

i think i'd actually prefer an add-on as such rather than a new chapter, as adding new stuff to existing parts of the game will be a whole lot less complicated user side as well as dev side, which should make it a better experience.
it does sound like a WoW player has just read a press release from a-net and converted it to WoW speak, multi level dungeons and alterac thing for instance. not exactly gw style, yet.
and reading it, the way i see it is, if you have chapter 1, you dont get it free, but you need at least 1 of any of the 3 to play it, like expansion packs for other games (burning crusade?)
anyway i'm not convinced, it not being an official statement on the gw website, and the grammer being slightly off. good idea tho. not convinced about gw2 if it means moving away from gw

yer, theres no sign of it in the official site or other game websites (like gamespot, etc) also the only article in wiki is here, but personally i wont trust anything which ends in | QUOTE | | "and puiblished by NCsoft." |
edit, also the extract seems to be just copy and paste from the link above, with a little bit added....incidentally misspelled.....

Ithink that with the Technology this time their will be an function to transfer characthers with the other. I mean its not that you need to buy a new account. i think that it only is an activation code.
I hope their are more armors.
18 new multi-level dungeons, 40 new armour sets, 10 new Heroes and massive 150 new skills, out of which 50 belong only to PvE (Player versus Enviroment).
If you read this then you read the posts on forums

ugh why can't you people drop the stupid gwen thing. xD
She's a quest aid to teach you how to do useless junk in pre searing and was made into a joke by the programmers. Drop it for crap sakes xD.
Guild wars 2 would be a welcommed change. The system and mechanics of guild wars are lackluster and the campaign is getting really really dry.
With a new game set in future tense it opens up a whole new world of gadgets and possible classes.
It gives them a chance to get away form all of the mistakes they made in Guild Wars that they can't really fix because it's a part of the core game. (can't fix without a complete overhaul)
Out with the old in with the new!

I'm gone have to oppose this!!!
I like GW as it is a Fantasy Online RPG, not an MMO, I like the idea off an Add-On as much as a Expansion. But to get GW into an entire different direction *tears*
Never the less, I'm hooked to it and will still probably buy it =]
Just read: If GW2 is gonna keep Gameplay as this one now,lvl20 limit/teamplay/skills, with the open plains off normal MMO's I'm happy.

Hum that sounds kinda good but as for the new stuff coming with this "expansion" it's not that big of a change, 150 new skills means 15 per professions, 40 armors is 4 per profs, 18 dungeons which are multi-level ones (for me that means there'll be some for mutliple level range like the arenas of cities for level 10 and lower, etc). If it's the end of the first GW and if they're not goign to do more stuff for it when the sequel gets out, they need to make at least something that will occupy the players for a year or so. Would you imagine the sequel releasing in 2010 and having only a mere expansion until then? That sounds like bs, but still nice find +cred from me.
peace

Well I s'pose that if it's an addon like SF it'll be free? No?
I don't like rumors, they make me think that bad things are going to happen to my beloved game, I think I'll wait for the official press release :/
IF they scrap GW and make a GW2 I'll just go play something like Aion rather than have to start from scratch all over again. If they meld them and let you keep your chars then sign me up! I just hate to think that the time and effort I've put in will all be for nothing...

If this is true, i'll be crying tears of joy... PURE KITTEN JOY! And just because grammer is a little bit off doesn't mean its not real, I mean they'd have to be pretty damn good to fake a picture like that.
