hey,
Wondering how do you get your FoW armour, because i didnt take advantage of things when they were at thier best, and now its hard to get cash, could you say how you get your FoW armour, cause hell i ent savin for 2-4 months of uw runs over over over over again.
And it seems, if some one has FoW, they have 4 chars with it and all perfect wepons, and tormented shields etc...

well, those people either farmed a helluva long time for it, or they ebay'd money and bought everything, which you shouldn't do. all you can do is just keep doing runs with friends or go soloing, it takes a long time....

Well, if they have 4 sets and stuff, they obviously ebayed it.
If you wanna actualy earn it you have to farm the right things or run. You can HA and if your team is good collect the prizes.
Or you can run elona reach with a war, that makes alot of $$$. How i made alot of my money was by solo killing all the desert. i killed everything in a zone and made alot. Also you can just get lucky or Ebay it.

The re is no legit easy way... if it was easy it wouldn't be such an achievement. People spend lots of time and effort saving up for it, either doing UW and FoW over and over, or farming for cash and buying ectos and shards....
Just guessing, but those with 4 sets, perfect weapons, tormented gear and unbelievable amounts of cash all the time - well they either have no life, a dedicated guild, or a PayPal account.
Obviously there's always the exception of getting 'lucky', but that's pretty rare.
I suggest start saving... for those months you don't wanna do over and over.

Or they got a great drop that was worth a ton!
I farmed quite a bit, sold some good stuff, farmed some more and then farmed...again.
Before all the *ahem*nerfs*cough* if you had a good partner you could 2 man the Smite run in 10-15 mins. We might get 10 ecto's between us over a weekend and the one saving for FoW got the lot.
Edit:
A W/Rt UW run takes about 15-20 mins and makes at least 1k gold, items and Ecto if you're lucky. A good run will net you 20k in goods.

Is Boss farming worth doing, because i ust to solo some as Mo/E
i got a ele and sin, maybe should try A/E, E/A
but is it worth farming them alot / is it profitable

All the stuff you can solo farm is farmed to death and the prices go down...IMO you'd do better chest running since if you get something good chances are it's gonna be worth something.
You could also do DoA runs since Titan Gems are still worth a packet plus you get a lot of smaller stuff on the way and a chance of greens.

In addition to the materials and costs. You also need to complete the quests in FoW before you can craft the obesidan armour. Alot of ppl I know still have trouble doing that. If this is a goal of yours, its going take time and its no easy effort. Im jealous of everyone who wears such armour. Even the pinecone warrior armour.
Creditz to you for going after it. Some ppl are just happy with the acended armour set.

I don't think you should say that because some people (like Tribina) work really hard for there armor and I know that they wouldn't appreciate being called an ebayer. I have only gotten half of my necro's FoW armor and let me say... it takes so long to farm all those ectos and shards! Now for someone like... well let's just say I worship Trib :)
And as for the original question... if you don't want to spend months and months farming then you aren't going to get it. FoW armor is basically like a title. It takes hard work and dedication. If you find farming boring go with groups. They are always fun. If you are having a hard time finding a group then maybe join a Farming guild... they go on many farming runs as a guild that sound really fun.

yeah it's not usually a good idea to sterotype or lump everybody in together =)
If you have the time/patience to create a warrior and get past THK there's a build I believe for farming Ghial's Staff and Ghial's Staves are worth a bit less after all of the green drop weekends but they can still go for 15-20k. hope this tip helps and gl on getting FoW armor =)

ya, ebay is worthless. bad part is that if you talk to people with FoW armor and the "good and rare" weapons, you can tell if they ebay or actually play because of how much they know about the game. this one guy at THX had no clue about the mission and how to play it but was decked out in full FoW with a crystalline sword. Either he's really stupid, an ebay'er, or both *gasp*

I know. Or even Everdream. There are some players who are able to farm these areas in groups on a fairly regular basis. Those are the players I envy, Tribina, included. ^.^ I think Trib can even play his ranger with his eyes closed in the Under World, hehe.
All I could get was 1 set on my monk back in Feb. '06, but I started playing in June of '05. As True Edge had "persuaded" me at the time, since people know that character the most. I went along with his monk and got it. :p I've hardly been back to UW/FoW since. :-(
Save, sell, farm, rinse, lather, and repeat.
Anet has given us keyless chests in Night Fall that could help you on your way. I documented my trips per character. With 12 chests, I averaged about 24k-26k in gold alone. Tribina also made an excellent guide for those chests, found here. I have also sold some - soo lazy - of those weapons, too.
I think the key is "Patience".
With the weapons, well..I'm not one of em. I still use collectors items or chest drops. So far, the only staff I covet is the tormented one, and I soooo want to do anguish groups so bad....:O

there are no easy ways to get it, farming alot, and try to get the new stuff and sell it b4 it gets cheap.. sometimes its easyer to farm for money or items that you can sell for money than farming the ectos and shards
there are several mutants with multiple sets and i can assure that no1 has bought gw gold from ebay or its likeness :) just alot of hard work

i hate when people see that someone has 4 sets of FoW and immediately the word "eBay" pops into their head.
of course, someone could pay $200 ($50/1mil GW gold) for 4 sets of FoW, but others have legit ways of it. farming? it's possible, but more than likely, no. scamming? definitely not.
a lot of people with multiple sets of FoW do one thing: power trade. buy low, sell high. once you rack up a bunch of money that way, you can start buying with 100k+XXe and sell for more ecto than you bought for. there are plenty of players that can fill up their storage with stacks of ecto. i've never done this, but it is amazing how some people can make a stack of ecto just like that.

If you realy want it you will get it and by legitimate means, FoW was never meant to be easy to get. I did countless duo runs to UW with a friend who didnt want FoW so I got not only my ecto drops but his too (thnx Edem!). I was lucky enough to recieve a few donations too.
I actually think now is the best time to make money in the game than ever before, the drops seem more valuable and the amounts of gold dropping are higher in Nightfall I'm sure.
If your lucky enough to be in a good guild and make good friends ( I was lucky in being leader of AMP and now being a member of MU) it makes it easier thats for sure. When people see you working hard to achieve something and they count themselves as friends and allies they naturally want to see you achieve it and you do the same for them.
Research - find out whats valuable and what isnt, find out where it drops, look for a build to farm it then spend hours farming! Once you manage to farm then the really boring process of shouting WTS in trade chat begins... when you get items that sell for 100k + it is worth it.
It's an unfortunate part of the process but you really need to invest the time and effort to get it, when you do get it it is so worth it (got myself jacket and gloves, its all I want and I'm extremely happy with the way it looks)

I am so with you on that, those torment staves look hot! I even traded in a set of gems in the hope that the coffer of whispers would yield an ambrace of truth, sadly lady luck was not on my side that night (elixir of valor anyone ?)

That much huh? I solo'd him the other day just to see if I could but I decided that the staff wasn't worth the time/effort. However, if they're going for 20k I might go back!
Edit:
Afterthought...The W/Mo build for soloing Ghial makes a damn good 5 man FoW tank, swap the +enchant sword for a furious tho. 2 birds 1 stone ;)

Statements like this should NEVER be made. I have many friends just like myself that earned our sets of FoW armor (which I am currently up to four). Yes I'm sure many people do EBay their money, but there are plenty of us that don't so please don't generalize.
As for how I got mine, it was actually rather simple/quick. The first set (my monk's) I got from selling two Urgoz Longbows (when they first came out) and a few other weapons from chests in Urgoz. The other 3 I got all in one-two weeks from "farming" Domain of Anguish. I used to do a lot of 4 area runs which brought in enough gold to get myself 3 sets of Fow (incoluding a few mallyx weapons).

Dude i feel your pain, although probably a lot less, im farming vermin *1k in 15 minutes* and i need to farm 78k more. That might sound a little to big time farmers by im PvE Obessed (literally, only made a PvP character to get Faction for my PvE's) and NEVER FARM....Ever!
We wonder, "Why?" when we lose friends, and there are never any good answers.

Yeah powertrade.
Get about 100k+10 ectos and buy something that people are really begging for right about now.
A lot of people want Bone Dragons/Kuunavangs so try to buy them for a cheaper price than in-game or the highest current bid on guru.
THEN sell them on guru, prices there are so inflated - it's great!

It saddens me to see posts like this...
Guildwars almost hits it 2nd birthday, if you don't play PvP at all, and don't use GW as another chatservice like MSN..
And you have quite a bit of free time to spare..
Why accuse people of ebaying/cheating
I for example do have a life... I'm good at my job and working my way up there.. Got lots of friends and live happily together with my GF..
My guess is that comments like these have to come from people who are jealous.. I'm very proud of my achievements ingame, but I get sick of comments like this..
Sure lots of people bought gold for IRL currency, but it ain't fair to generalize it to ALL the people who got lots of fow sets or perfect weapons.

i would say,keep patience.
i know a third party program looks very comfi and easy, but it isn't worth it. you account can be banned!
just try to have fun. i made yesterday 5k in 30 mins because of normal fighting with my 3 heros and 1 hench in a area where you can have a party of 8. i know it sounds wierd but i only discoffered 30% os elona and 5/20 missions, but i allready have 3500 sunspear pionts. so you get loads of money and nice rank in sunspear(and GMC title :P).

That's a good point. Just playing through NF made me all the materials and most of the gold I needed to craft my Dervish's end game armour.
Tyria: 20 * 2k per Bonus = 40k
Cantha: 13 *3k per Masters = 39k
Elona: 20 * 3k per Masters = 60k
Total just for playing the game = 139k of non-farmed gold.

If you have all 3 chapters you have at least 8 characters so 139 * 8 = 1112k!
Wow! I've never worked it out like that! ANet actually give you enough to buy a set of FoW just for getting the Protector titles!

Now I didn't get Masters on all of them first time but I did pick up a lot of loot on the way and I easily had 40k+ when I fought Abaddon. I topped this up with 35ish k from storage.
So if you just play through and don't fritter your gold away, don't buy 15k sets & stick to collectors weapons you'll make a packet in no time!

Just as an addition for people who are feeling sad that they might never be able to farm that much:
A guildie and I decided last Tuesday 27th February that we would start farming for FoW armour. We took it in turns to 55/SS duo in UW, swapping around every few runs, and farming cash in other areas when one of us wasn't online. Pretty much the whole time we were online we were in UW. We were so determined to get the armour we just farmed and farmed and farmed. Bought a few ecto's here and there from the money we got from drops, and bought all the shards. Then, on Tuesday 6th March we went into FoW with our guildies in the evening and got our armour.
So in all it took exactly 1 week. We did already start with some money and were able to buy the shards. But the main thing was we were very persistent and just did it, unquestioning of when it was going to end. And I don't even play much PvE, so if I can do this, anyone can! It really helped that both of us wanted the armour, so we farmed together, and you can push each other on and encourage when drops are slow etc. It really helped.

IMO 55/SS duo is still a really good way of farming UW, it's just a bit harder now, pressumably why you see less duo groups forming in ToA. The job of the tank got quite a lot harder, as he now needs to pull any groups which are larger than 3 into what we refer to as a choke-point to prevent the enemies running after the SS when low on health. This is particularly important on the smites, as they will often come in groups of up to 5, and if you choke them well, you can tank 2 groups of 5 and kill them without any scatter. The 55 needs to be positioned in between the smites and where they where standing before, and in between himself and the SS, leaving no room around him for the smites to move.
Until the smites the SS's job is very simple, kil kill, fast, BR when called for (usually after squids). The smites need to have their energy drained properly before using SS, casting order should be:
echo --> SV --> SV Copy --> SS + Reckless --> AV --> SV (until dead)
Well I could go into more detail, but I won't unless asked. Gl farmers ^^
