| Old School GW Before Release - A MUST SEE |

I was looking through guildwiki and found this video of a guild wars trailer from way back in 2003. Man it looks so different, but you can still tell thats it guild wars from the weapon skins. You can see a crenellated sword, colossal scimitar, and fiery gladius to name a few...so these skins werent really new, anet just recycled them (tisk tisk anet /shakefinger)

Man the graphics were so bad, but they had some pretty cool looking monsters.

Lol its def old school guild wars, pretty fun to watch it, but i have to say, glad to see Anet made some "minor improvements" afterwards. :P

O.O" dang....thats wierd, it looks like WoW and all i saw was warriors and rangers, now im rly glad that they put better graphics in it

Yeah, hard to believe that's Guild Wars. Really glad they changed it to the way it is now.

haha , theve changed the models and textures so much.
Im surprised though why they didn't develop the graphics before they made all the monsters and areas , because there would be no point releasing the completed game with those graphics.
The guild theme is less pronounced I would say now.
In that video it almost looked like they were fighting the monsters and each other in the same area.

There was a necro in there too. and I saw an ele running about. It's a lot more Cartoonie that way xD but you can tell which enemies are which I think at least. Evolution is a strange thing :|

i saw a icy elemental golem walking on 4 legs....a FDS and Kryta and shaiverpeaks, man is that old i wonder if that still exists as a closed offline game now, on an old server..

I think it was supposed to look cartoonie like that because anet i think were old Blizzard people and they might've wanted it to be like WoW.

Did anyone else notice that one of the monster sounds is the same as ones in gw now? In the trailer, its the sound when you see that big round snowy looking thing.

My thoughts are it just looks like placeholder graphics to me - you dont spend much time on alpha graphics (notice move animations are very basic too).
Its rough to look at but great to allow the alpha testers something to test the game concept with and make improvements on.
Then again maybe that is the original style, thankgod they didnt run with it.

Damn that looked like a bad clone of wow, they really improved it. btw we can see a kanaxai edge and a colossal scimitar in the vid. Seems like A net has been hiding some stuff from the begining.

Yes, I already eluded to this in my first post. You can also see the two versions of the Nightfall gladius, both plain and fiery.
